Morgan Family Reunion

This is where it all began!!

This is a photo of MY grandparents back in 1936 with their 12 children (my mother is next to the youngest).  Starting in the early 1940's, the Morgan family began having FAMILY REUNIONS and they have continued on till today.  In fact, for the past 24 years, we have turned it into a full weekend event.  With the 42 FIRST COUSINS getting together Friday night & Saturday ... then the ENTIRE family unite on Sunday.  Here are just a few photos from this past weekends Sunday reunion.

Talk about some GOOD EATS!!  YUMMO!!  Unfortunately, we have lost several of the original 12 over the past few years and it was really noticed at this years reunion when it came time for dessert!  NONE of Aunt Sis's pies ... or Aunt Glory's apple cobbler!   Not only do we miss their smiling faces but really didn't realize just how much we would miss their baking!  Looks like some of the younger ones need to STEP UP TO THE BAT and do more baking for next year's reunion!

But there's always plenty of food for all ... and beverages too!  What a wonderful time to catch up with everyone and talk over 'the good old days' while you munch on Corn on the Cob, meatballs, chicken, various salads, etc., etc.

Here is a group photo taken at last years reunion.
Mind you, that's not ALL of us ... just the ones that were available to come!

Cousin Cobbie (Jim's his real name) always provides entertainment for the little ones and this year he went all out!!  The waterslide is their favorite but there were several other blown up ... bounce inside type things to keep them busy too!  Heck, even some of the 'older' kids got inside to cool off & play!

I am so blessed to have such a large, loving family and couldn't wait to share my happy day with you all!  Here's a couple folks that I'm extremely PROUD of ...

Daughter Carolyn in the middle and Grand-daughter Morgan on the right.

And of course, my Mom with gentleman friend Ken.  Mom is 81 and going strong!!  She sings, dances and still holds down a couple part time jobs!  YOU GO GIRL!!!  She says keeping busy helps keep her young!  I hope to have her energy when I'm 81 ... LOL!!

Thanks for letting me share with you today.  I'm busy getting ready for my trip out to Indiana on Wednesday for another fun workshop being held at Joan's Gardens.  I'll be gone from Wed - Sun ... so I have lots to do!  Catch you later!!

Hugs,
Darlene

P.S.  Thought you might enjoy a few other 'FAMILY NAMES' ...
Uncle BOOB (Wilbur)... his wife PERKY (Norma) ... their son NUBBY (Lee)
Uncle HEN (Clyde)
Cousin CORKY (Rose Ann)
Uncle LUCKY (Paul)

I'm sure there are others ... these are just the ones that quickly came to mind!  WHAT FUN!!  Oh, FYI ... my nickname was DOLLY ... but those who called me that are gone now so I don't hear it anymore ... how sad!

  2. The price of good family...the sorrow in saying good-bye. Grandpa used to call you Dolly...I'd love to hear his voice as much as you would. Miss him every day! The reunion was surreal this year. Enjoyable for sure...but surreal. So many loved ones absent from our table...but never our hearts. Love you Mom!!!

  4. Darlene, how fantastic to have such a huge and loving family. Are you going to be one to step up to the baking side of things....do we hear pies in the near future?? If so, don't forget to show us some photos so we can all drool over them!
Thanks for sharing these fabulous family moments with us!
