Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge

We are happy to announce that we are finally releasing
the Pin Ups as Digital Stamps today!

WOW has two weeks passed already!
That means it's time once again for a Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge and today it's all about

MAKING SOMETHING HOMEMADE
(i.e. paper, embellishments, sentiment)

I chose to make my own background paper and flower.

For the green background paper, I simply used a sponge applicator, Momento 'Bamboo Leaves' Ink and white glossy paper.  For the red/green panel, I've used the 'stipple brush' technique onto another white glossy paper panel using the same 'Bamboo Leaves' ink and SU Ruby Red.

The red flower was first embossed using the 'Swirl' Cuttlebug EF, Gold Brillance ink was swiped over the raised portion then the flower was cut using the Tim Holtz floral die.  The smaller flower was punched from the same red/green  background paper using a PunchBunch punch then a Prima 'Say It In Studs' was placed in the center.  The leaves were punch using the MS frond punch and gold Stickles added the sparkle.  The vine swirl is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

How about this 'darling' PIN UP GAL!  Her name is MARILYN and we have a NEW RELEASE for you beginning today!  You'll want to be sure to check out this new line of PIN UP GIRLS ... they are fabulous and the guys are going to LOVE THEM!!!

After coloring my image using Prismacolor Markers, I added red Stickles to her top, waistband & shoes for that added sparkle that every holiday outfit needs!!  LOL!!

Please be sure to pop over to the Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge Blog to see the other new PIN UP images available and inspirational creations from my teammates!  THEN ... come join in the fun and make something homemade!
I could use some inspiration ... I'll be looking for your creation!!

Hugs,
Darlene

The Sisterhood of Crafters

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today at The Sisterhood, Micki is our hostess and she's asked us to use SILHOUETTE images.  I just LOVE these images but never think to create with them ... well, today I have gone over board.  I just couldn't help myself!  LOL!  The images were all free on the internet so I'm sorry but have no one person to thank.

The background paper on the first two creations are from GinaK ... her black & white series.  The butterfly is a Cheery Lynn Designs die, pearls are Want2Scrap and the lace is by Wright and purchased at JoAnn's.

This third image has actually been in my picture file for quite some time and it was a freebie offered out in blogland and unfortunately I didn't think to put the artist's name on the file.  If you know who it is, please let me know and I will certainly give credit to the artist.  I this little lovely skater is just awesome and finally got around to using it.  The background paper has been embossed with a Cuttlebug 5x7 snowflakes EF and the matted circle is Spellbinder Beaded Circles.  I used Spellbinder  Classic Circle dies to cut out the circle on the orange as well as cut out the focus image to insert.

On this last card, I was trying to create an Alaskan Sky as the backdrop for these howling wolves, but hubby says it looks more like a rainbow!!  LOL!!  WHAT EVER!!  Either way, I created the background paper just using ink to paper and the sentiment was computer generated!

Okay ... now it's your turn!  I can't wait to see what you create with a silhouette digi or rubber stamp image!  See you at The Sisterhood!  Have fun!

Hugs,
Darlene

Today I chose to use the FANCY sketch for my creation.  I have used the BUTTERFLY image from "priscillastyles" store.  My designer paper is the Maraposa paper pack from DCWV ... fancy flourish is by Cheery Lynn Designs, Butterfly embellishments are Cheery Lynn Designs and flowers are Petaloo.  Prismacolor markers were used for the coloring on my "priscillastyles" butterfly digi image and a touch of Stickles was added for sparkle.

I just LOVE how this card came together and you can't go wrong with butterflies!  This card can be used for just about any occasion.    I've also used the Spellbinder Classic Circle dies to help showcase this beautiful image.  Would like you like a closer look at the focus butterfly?  Here ya go . . .

I have used the same markers I used to color for coloring the flowers for that PERFECT match in color!

Okay ... now that I have hopefully inspired you ... it's your turn to create and share with us over at Midnight Madness!  Be sure to pop over to the site for MORE inspiration from my team mates!!!  What an amazingly talented group of ladies!!

Fabulous Challenge at . . .

JOAN'S GARDENS!    This week's challenge is a TWO-PART challenge.  First Joan lets us know what the requirements are for the challenge card and the last item on the list is to 'make a matching box' ... which you need to go to Selma's blog for instruction!  FABULOUS ideas ... both the card & box!

First I'd like to share my CARD with you.  Purple is my favorite color, so I was thrilled to be able to use it today and as a matter of fact, the person I have in mind for this creation also likes purple!  And, since she doesn't follow my blog (too busy with 15 grandkids to be internetting, LOL) I don't have to worry about her NOT being surprised come January!!!

In this close-up, you can see that I have added a little purple chalk to the upraised portions on this beautiful Marianne (DS0908) embossing folder.  The chalk I used is Pebbles Inc. Jewel Tone Pearlescents.

Items used on the card & box are:
Papers:  White cs, Deep Purple cs, K&Co. (Floral Bouquet) designer paper
Stamps:  Penny Black (card sentiment), Inkadinkado (box sentiment)
Inks:  Versamark
Accessories:   Spellbinder Classic Circle Dies,  Martha Stewart Butterfly Punches, Cheery Lynn Designs (DL103) Italian Flourish Doily Die, Kaiser Lavendar Pearls, Deco Art Glamour Dust, Quickie Glue, Ranger purple embossing powder, Michael's ribbon

Here is my card & box set!  Didn't they turn out beautifully!  I am SO PLEASED and I know my friend will be thrilled too!  (items in bold print were purchased at Joan's Gardens)  If you've never visited Joan's Gardens ... now's the time!  She (along with designer, Selma) not only has a fabulous challenge every Thursday ... but Joan has a wonderful selection of crafting products and she only charges what it costs her for shipping!

Well, it's the last weekend before hubby goes back to work after being off for 3 weeks on vacation.  WOW ... that time went by SO FAST!!  We didn't do any fancy trips but we did get a lot of projects done around the house (inside & out) and enjoyed our time together.  Being able to sit out on the deck and enjoy coffee in the early morning ... out to eat at some new restaurants in the evening ... and just spending time together discussing our plans for his upcoming retirement in April was wonderful!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Darlene

A Day to Share . . .

HAPPY OVER THE HUMP DAY EVERYONE!
WOW!  Where's the time going??
October is right around the corner!
This week went by so quickly, I nearly MISSED the challenge
at Joan's Gardens!  Yikes!!

Here is what you need to do for Joan's Gardens Weekly Challenge #2
■  Create a Christmas Card
■  Create an embossed background using Selma's Technique

■  Used Striped designer paper
■  Gold emboss your sentiment

With that in mind, here's what I came up with . . .

Recipe for this card is as follows:
Stamp:   SU 'Home For Christmas' sentiment stamp
Paper:  White cs (6 x 5-1/2), BoBunny 'Father Christmas Collection' dp purchased at Joan's Gardens, Gold Metallic cs
   Ink:  Versamark
Accessories:  Gold Sparkle embossing powder,  Recollections Mulberry Paper Holly Leaves (Michaels), Cuttlebug snowflake EF, Gold Pilot marker (edging), gold Stickles, pop dots, Spellbinder classic circle dies

I don't typically do a lot of heat embossing because it never seems to come out as nice as I would like it to ... but I'm very happy with today's outcome.  Hope you like it too!   Remember to pop over to Joan's Gardens each THURSDAY for a brand new challenge and prizes.

  * * * * * * * * * *

I hadn't taken the time over the past couple of weeks (hubby's on vacation & under foot, LOL) to share with you the creations I've made for the Crafty Secrets Forum of Splitcoast Stamper

CSSC188 was hosted by LoriLynn and she asked us to use BUTTONS along with our Crafty Secrets products.  Here is the card I made using an image from the CS 'Down On The Farm' stamp set . . .

Then for CSSC189, yours truly was the hostess and I asked everyone to use up their SCRAPS along with Crafty Secrets products for their creations.  Here's mine using CS 'Bird Lovers' stamp set . . .
This week's CSSC190 is hosted by Joanne and she has us 'Over The Rainbow' ... using the theme literally or just the colors of the rainbow along with your CS products.  I decided to use the Wizard of Oz theme for my creation.  I grabbed this free image from the internet to make my background paper ... then used the adorable little witch from CS 'Halloween Fun' stamp set . . .

Thanks for stopping by today and for any comment you might leave!  I ALWAYS enjoy hearing what you have to say or any suggestions you may have!  Enjoy the rest of your week and do something FUN!!!  Life is short ... enjoy every moment you can with the ones you love doing what you love to do!

Darlene

Today's creation uses both a stamped image & designer paper from the new Graphic45 'Christmas Emporium" set.  The designer paper is two-sided and I have used both sides of this one 8x8 sheet.  My image was colored with Prismacolor markers and I've used light blue chalk for the background.  By adding little dabs of Quickie Glue and Deco Art Glamour Dust ... I've given the illusion of snow in the background.  Liquid Applique was added to the girls coat, hat, boot tops & muff for dimension.  The big sparkly snowflake came from Michael's (a long time ago) ... sorry don't know who the maker is.

ROUND #3 . . .

. . . of the Progressive Challenge over at Crafter's Digital Art Center (CDAC).  If you haven't yet joined this group and the fun challenges, swaps & chit chat ... why not do it today ... GO HERE for all the details.

For this 3rd round, we have another FIVE artists represented and awesome digi's to play with.  Our theme this round is FALL/AUTUMN FEELING.   Knowing the next couple of weeks are going to be busy ... I thought I'd better do them all NOW ... so here we go!

** CLICK ANY IMAGE TO ENLARGE **

First is a digi image from Nicecrane Designs.  He certainly looks like he has something to say (or complain about, lol) hence my 'Serendipity' sentiment.  I created the paper for the leaves using various Tim Holtz distress inks then cut out the leaves using the Spellbinder Shapeabilities Fall Leaves dies.  Background papers are DCWV and Prismacolor markers were used for my coloring.

Secondly is a beautiful fall Sunflower digi image from Just Inklined.  The background papers are DCWV, coloring was done with Prismacolor markers, satin ribbon from Michaels and Cherry Lynn Designs butterfly die.

My third creation uses another digi that has someone who appears to have something to say!  This lovely lady is from Liastampz and I think she's saying REMEMBER ...(inside) It's all about You~ at least for today!  Happy Birthday!   My background paper is The Paper Studio 'Mirabelle'.  Wording was created using Creative Memories small sticker letters and coloring again was with Prismacolor markers.

WOW ... now this fourth creation SCREAMS FALL to me!!  She's from Gurukitty Designs and my coloring is once again Prismacolor markers.  Solid color cardstock was used for backing and the Spellbinder Scallop Edge Frame was done twice ... once around my image on the white printed paper and again on this DCWV rusty fall designer paper.  I then  set my image inside the dp frame.  In my scraps were various pieces of paper that I had created using Adirondack Alcohol Inks (long ago) and decided to use those to cut my fall leaves again using the Spellbinder Shapabilities Fall Leaves dies.  Gold Stickles and a few Prima flowers finished this creation.

Last but not least is this awesome 'Bowl of Apples' from Glitterbabe.  After printing my design, I cut around the apples & bowl and added a piece of designer paper for the 'wallpaper backdrop'.  I wish you could see the dimension in my photo ... it's SO MUCH BETTER IRL!!  The apples have SU Crystal Effects on them for shine and the bowl is POPPED UP with dimensional.  The apples on the 'table' were created with a stamp from the Graphic45 'An ABC Primer' stamp set and various SU inks.  The butterfly border was laying on my work table and was 'screaming' to be used and the plaid dp is Paper Pizazz.

Challenges:
Always Something  Creative - AUTUMN
HeidisHobbystuggu - Fall Colors
Really Reasonable Ribbons Ramblings - AUTUMN
Craft Us Crazy #17 - Goodbye to Summer
Crafty Purple Frog Challenge - Fall into Fall
Just For Fun - Shades of Green
Rubber Cafe - Fabulous Fall
Digistamps4Joy - Colors of Fall
I Brake For Challenges - Backgrounds
Digital Tuesday Challenge - Celebrate the Season (I choose FALL)

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  It has certainly 'cooled off' here in NE Ohio and although hubby & I are "ON VACATION" ... there's not a whole lot getting done today!!  That's okay ... I'm playing in my CAVE and that makes me a happy girl!  Later!

Hugs,
Darlene
