Sassy Studio Designs DTBST#187

Hello my friends!

I've had this image colored for a few days now and since I'm going to be away for a few days I thought I'd better get a card created and shared over at the Dare To Be Sassy Thursday #187 Challenge.   This challenge runs through this coming Thursday (8/1).

The challenge is:
 It's happy hour!
Use a cocktail (or any beverage on your card).

Here's my card using  "Lounging Around Sassy".
This creation is very CAS (clean and simple) since the only thing I did was create the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Eclipse Masking & Sponges and add a sentiment from a new Inkadinkado set I purchased recently.

A few additional challenges:
Cuttin and Stampin Challenge - Clean and Simple
Inky Chicks - Summer colors
Party Time Tuesday - Anything Goes

Creative Stamp Friends - Summer, Sun, Holidays
Catered Crop - Summer Lovin'

Well that's it for me this evening!  Guess I'd better get that load of laundry folded and packed!  LOL!
Thanks so much for stopping by and as always . . .

SFC3013 - It's Squigglefly Time once again . . .

Happy Monday my friends!

Today at Squigglefly it's all about Piercing or Piecing for our challenge.  But, before I get on with telling you about my DT card sample, I wanted to be sure you heard the news!  Squigglefly has a new artist joining the staff on August 3rd.  Her name is Judith Hart and her images are adorable!  I hope you'll stop over on August 3rd for the new release and welcome Judith to the already amazing group of artists on staff at Squigglefly.

Now ... as to my card creation, I chose to do piercing since I haven't done that technique in a very long time!

(inside view)
Isn't this image adorable!!  It's called "It's a Jump Rope Kind of Day Maddy" by Cheryl Grant Alger.

The design is actually quite simple as I really wanted to keep the focus on this HAPPY young lady!  I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun ... remember, it can be PIERCING or PIECING ... or both!!

A few challenges:
Catered Crop - Summertime
Come and Get It Challenges - Humorous Birthday
Dream Valley Challenges - Summer Days
Hobby Cutz Challenge - Summer

I didn't have a sentiment that worked for the inside of my card so I generated my own through Photo Shop Elements.  Added a little flower (as I did to the envelope flap) and Viola! ... cute as a button creation!

Remember to use a Squigglefly image to win but if you don't have one, try one of their freebies

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you're off to a fabulous start for the week!
As always ...

Summertime Flowers . . .

Happy Weekend my friends!
(Warning:  This post is photo heavy!)

Time is going by so quickly it seems, but I'm truly enjoying my summertime flowers this year!  I have some photos to share with you but first I want to share the card I made for the current challenge at Joan's Gardens.  This week Joan has asked us to use:
  • Have three dimensional flowers with greenery
  • Use a Floral Design Paper
  • Use A doily
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.
Also, link back to Joan's Gardens Challenge.

  • Note the coordinating envelope in the background.
(below is a peek at the inside)

This was a fun creation to 'toss' together.  Really ... I TOSSED this one together from pieces & parts I had laying on my work table.  I had started the card base for a project over at Crafty Secrets (using their new digital design paper) but moved onto something different.  The flower is one I made with the gals out at Joan's Gardens last week (using Heartfelt Creations die & stamps).  I did have to die cut the doilies and butterflies but that took what ... all of 2 or 3 minutes! LOL!

    A few other challenges:
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes w/matching envelope
Great Impressions Stamps - July Anything Goes
Penny Black & More Challenge - Die Cuts and Punches
    Creative Creations - Anything Goes

I have LOVED flowers from the time I was a little girl!  My dad had a fabulous 'green thumb' and I was always watching how he planted and tended to his beautiful flower garden in the center of our semi-circular driveway.  And back then there were lots of beautiful butterflies to watch as they gathered nectar from all the different flowers he had planted.  Here's a few of my flowers  ...

I just love the Morning Glories in bloom.  They have reseeded themselves to the point of taking over the side of the garage ... but they are so beautiful in the morning!

I've positioned a few trellis here and there to give them a place to climb besides chocking out my other summer flowers ... i.e. Liatris, Asters, my poor rosebush!  LOL

In the spring I love planting wave petunias both on the back deck on around the front of our home!  The sweet smell of the petunias encourage the hummingbirds and the color encourages the butterflies.  So nice to sit out on the deck, enjoy our coffee and watch not only the birds and squirrels in our wooded picnic area but the close up view of anything visiting our flower boxes/pots.

As you can see, pinks & purples are my favorite colors around the house.  You'll see a few reds or yellows but mostly PURPLES ... my favorite color!

To the right you see my deck flowers.  This corner pot of Speed Well, Verbena & Pentunias has been beautiful all summer.  The bottom photo I took just yesterday morning as we sat outside enjoying the cool morning with a cup of coffee.  I'm hoping the Speed Well will survive the winter and come back again next year.

My flower boxes certainly filled in nicely also.  I don't know about you ... but this just MAKES ME HAPPY!!

As you can see the front of the house is also adorned with pinks & purples.  This photo was taken earlier in the summer and right now these pots are TOTALLY covered with shades of purple wave petunias and the hanging baskets are twice this size.

Another plant I have love having in our landscape ... not only for it's beautiful wispy appearance, but it's lovely aroma ... is the Lavender.  We have 4 or 5 scattered throughout the front and it just smells HEAVENLY!!!  I was also amazed this year at how beautiful our purple Cone Flowers were.  This clump tripled in size from last year to this year.
    Isn't Mother Nature wonderful!?!

Well, by now you've probably had enough of my blabbering on and on about my flowers but I'm just so darn thrilled with them that I had to share it with someone!  LOL!!   Thanks so much for hanging in there and letting me share. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend and will stop back again soon.

    As Always . . .

    Sweet Blessings

    T.G.I.F.
Whew!  It's been a bit of a whirl wind around here lately and I feel I've slighted you on sharing some projects from Crafty Secrets!  So, today I have a couple of quick card projects to share with you and I hope you'll give them a try!

You'll want to be sure and pop over to Crafty Secrets - Be A Crafty Vintage Girl Shoppe to check out all the new and wonderful digital images/paper/ephemera available.

    Here's a card I made using the NEW Digital - Embossed Pink/Yellow Papers - DP-208
The embossed look of this paper is AMAZING!  It LOOKS embossed but it's perfectly smooth!  I've also used DP-203 Rose Swirls digital paper on this design.   For my sentiment panel I combined two images.  First I've used the rose image from T-21 Garden Printables ... then overlayed it with the sentiment from the Flower Girl - DAS-116 digital set.
A little strip & bow of Wright's lace and this lovely card is ready to send!

One of the FABULOUS things about these new digital papers is that you not only can select, resize, print and create to your hearts content ... but you can also make matching envelopes any time you want as I've done here!  You never have to worry about running out of that favorite design paper ... just click, print & create!
I recently purchased one of the WeR Memory Makers Envelope Punch Boards and it's so easy to now make matching envelopes for my creations.  Again ... even though this paper LOOKS embossed, it's totally smooth and will mail without a problem!

I wanted a little gift set for a friend I'm going to visit next week so I whipped up this set of notecards in 3x3 1/2" size.  Again ... matching envelopes make for a quick & easy gift set.  There are actually SIX in the set ... 3 pink cards w/envelopes and 3 white cards w/envelopes.

Hmmm ... Maybe I should print more of this embossed paper and make a box to put the set in!  If I get the time and do make the box, I'll be sure to come back to share it with you!!

EDIT:   I'm BACK and found directions for a cute box that works perfectly for these little note cards!  I found the directions over on Shelly's Images Tutorial Tuesday ... want to see how it turned out?  SO CUTE!

Of course I printed another 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of Crafty Secrets Embossed Pink/Yellow Papers - DP-208 so it matched my cards.  This was SO EASY to make and looks FABULOUS I think!
My homemade flower & leaves are Heartfelt Creations stamps & dies.  The ladybug was made with the new Viva 'Susan Tierney Cockburn' Lady Bug set.
(stamps, dies & viva were purchased through Joan's Gardens)

    A.R.T. #7 Challenge

Another week is drawing to an end and today I have another fun creation to share with you for the A.R.T. (A Random Thursday) Challenge.  We have an easy one for you this week ...

    ANYTHING GOES!!

I always love this challenge because it's lets me get caught up on some of the theme cards I need (you know, like trapping two mice in one trap, LOL)!

I was in need of some baby cards so that is my theme for the day . . .

I am so pleased with how this card came together!
I had recently purchased some sentiment stamps through Jo-Ann Online (50% off sale) and this sentiment is from one of those stamp sets (the other one is all about laughter).  I just LOVED these baby shoes so stamped them twice, once on the tag and once on pink paper.  Did a little fussy cutting, colored the ribbon and stitching then popped them up ... too cute!!  I thought a little faux stitching to match the stitching on the booties was just the perfect finishing touch.  What do you think??

    Other challenges:
Paper Crafting Journey - Punches and/or Dies
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
    Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
    Creative Card Crew - Baby

    Hope to see you there!
Until then and as always ...

Edit:  Oh My Gosh ... I totally forgot to show you the inside of this card
(yep ... still trying to keep up with my New Years resolution)!

    The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge

    Hello ... Hello ...

It's time for another fun challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters!
I'm thrilled to be today's hostess and hope you'll come join in today's challenge fun!

    Our theme today is:

    BRING ON THE HEAT
(card/project with a SUN on it)

Here's what I came up with and LOVED creating it.

This is about as easy a card creation and you can get!  Here's the process I used:
Using Tim Holtz distress Inks and large sponge daubers, sponge on the colors you'd see on a beach (sand, water, sky).  Stamp my images ... create a SUN using a large marshmallow looking sponge dauber and yellow ink.  Add a couple pieces of yellow gingham ribbon to the corners ... make a bow with my bow easy ...attach with glue dots and VIOLA!!  Card front is ready to mat and attach to the base card.

See ... told you it was quick & easy!!  Try it ...
This is about as CAS as I can get!!

    Recipe for my card:
Papers:  White cs, SU Yellow cs
Inks:  Tim Holtz Distress Inks - Antique Linen (sand), Stormy Sky (water), Broken China (sky),  Memento ME-100 Dandelion (sun), Versafine Onyx
Stamps:  SU Seaside Sketches (retired), Stampscapes Gulls (302A)
Accessories:  Sponge daubers, Marshmallow dauber (kids crafts at Jo-Anns), Michael's yellow gingham ribbon, Bow Easy

    * * * * *
At the 11th hour I decided to make another sample card for today's challenge and went in search of an image/stamp that had a sun on it.  I came up with this fabulous stamp from the Our Daily Bread 'The Mighty Sea' stamp set and got busy coloring.

    Recipe for this card:
Papers:  Graphic45 Secret Garden 6x6 Patterns & Solids, Black cs, White cs, SU Summer Sun cs
Stamps/Ink:  Our Daily Bread 'The Mighty Sea',  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Spellbinder Classic & Scallop Circle dies, Memory Box #98438 'Big Splash Border', Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Stickles 'Waterfall',

    Sassy Studio Designs Challenges

    Good Afternoon my friends!

With being gone from my 'cave' for several days recently, I am a bit behind on some of my favorite challenges ... so today I'm playing CATCH UP!
We all know how that is ... 'you gotta pay if you want to play'!!

Anyways, here's a card (and envelope) I made this morning for the Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge #186 (use your favorite color combination) and it also works the PCP Sassy Studio Progressive Challenge using this adorable 'Sock Hop' freebie for this month's challenge.

Anyone who knows me KNOWS my favorite color is PURPLE and I like how it looks pared up with any shade of green.

Recently I stocked up on some design paper at Michaels when they had it on a 5 for $1 special and found this beautiful swirly 12x12 by Recollections.  I thought it would work perfectly with this fun image!

My frame work is a new die purchased over the weekend at Joan's Gardens.  It is by Memory Box ... #98540 ... Findlay Frame.

With my design paper being 12x12 in size, I was able to decorate the front & inside of my card as well as the envelope flap with only HALF the sheet (6" x 12").  How cool is that!

AND ... while crafting this weekend with friends, I FINALLY learned how to use my WeR Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board so I can now make matching envelopes for my creations!  SO EASY (once you figure it out ... I have a tendency to 'over think' things like this)!

I was actually able to use up some scraps I had laying on my work table too.  The Cheery Lynn Designs B136 Anastasia Border die on my card front is one of my favorites ... as are the Cheery Lynn Designs DL112 Exotic Butterflies Small dies.  And of course, my coloring was done with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers ... still practicing ... I think I'm getting a little better!  Hopefully!!  LOL!

    A few additional challenges are:
Bloggers Challenge - Things with Wings
Brown Sugar #51 - Anything Goes
Sister Act Challenge - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes + Twist (matching envelope)
That Craft Place - It's A Girl Thing
Emerald Faeries #45 - Happy Birthday
Craft Your Passion - Happy Birthday

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you're having a fun filled day!
I'm hopefully headed outdoors to get the lawn mowed before more rain shows up!
Have a great day and as always . . .
