Happy Monday Evening all!
Been a busy day between cleaning, going to the gym & lending a helping hand to hubby on his guest bathroom redo project! But I spotted a technique that I just had to try and create a card to share before calling it a day!
I spotted this fun technique over a the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog.
The technique is called 'Dry Embossed Highlights over Ink Blending'.
Be sure to pop over and check out all the details! They even offer up a couple videos to help get you going. I kind of did mine a 'little' different,
Truth be told, after sponging the panel I wanted to use for my embossing and highlighting, I accidentally embossed the 'wrong' side of my sponged panel so my embossing came out on the white side vs the purple side. DUH!!!
So, instead of starting over (which I should have done but time was slipping away from me), I inked over my embossed image in purple then lightened it with the white but it didn't do what I wanted so I highlighted with the same color but a little 'heavier handed'. Was still a beautiful panel so here we are!! lol
Product used:
Lisa Horton 'Wild Flower Spray' 3D embossing folder
Paper Rose 'Stitched Rectangle Frames' #16679
Martha Stewart '3-in-1 Butterfly' Punch
Gemini 'Awesome' #GEMMDAWE
Tim Holtz 'Wilted Violet' distress oxide ink
Tombow #665 Marker

Some awesome techniques and samples!
Thanks for stopping by!
As always . . .
Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter that it went a bit wrong in the process because it looks amazing. I often do that too, it is so easy to do. I like your framing on this one too. Thanks for both your visits to me yesterday and your lovely comments xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Darlene!! I love your version of this technique. The purple highlighting really stands out over the softer purple background. And great save. I have done the same thing a few times with embossing the wrong side. :) Yours turned out beautifully!! Thanks for sharing with us at Group of Seven. xx
ReplyDeletevery pretty, even if you didn't do it the way you thought you should it looks great!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, the deeper purple really makes the Embossing pop ♥ Thanks for trying out the technique with us at Group of Seven Cardmakers ♥
ReplyDeleteYou know how it goes in crafting -- some of the most beautiful things come from our mistakes, and this is surely one of them. There can be any number of variations for this technique. What a gorgeous folder. Love how you matted it like a picture frame and added the butterflies up the side. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis is so very pretty. What happy accident. The Group of 7 really inspired us.
ReplyDeleteDarlene, your technique of dry embossed highlights over ink blending is simply captivating. The way you turned an unexpected embossing mishap into a stunning piece of art is truly inspiring. The depth and texture in your card, enhanced by the purple highlighting, make the design come alive. Your creativity and resourcefulness shine through in every detail of this beautiful creation.
