We NEED Your PRAYERS ... (UPDATE at the end of post)

(If you are here for the Saturday Spotlight, please scroll down)

About 10:30 last evening I received a text message from my daughter letting me know that my grand-daughter Morgan's VERY close friend, (they were boyfriend/girlfriend until the end of January) C J is his name, was in a very serious car crash and had been life flighted to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  He had neck, spine & internal injuries and was in surgery.

At 6:00 this morning she called to tell me that they were on their way to the hospital because things didn't look good. It is now 7:00 a.m. and she just called to let me know that they made it to the hospital safely, and CJ's sister was hoping to get Morgan in to see him before he has to go back into surgery.  I guess there are more internal injuries than first anticipated and they have called in Pastor Bob.

CJ had started coming to church with Morgan when they were dating and has continued to come even though they are no longer dating.  Morgan & CJ have remained close friends and they all think very highly of Pastor Bob.  I'm glad he's there to help them all deal with this terrible situation and what ever may lay ahead.

If you would, please say a prayer for this young man ... I think he's going to need all the prayers we can offer up!  Thanks so much!

Darlene

** UPDATE **
It's 1:00 p.m. and my daughter just called with an update!  CJ is out of surgery and things are looking better than expected!!  Praise God!!  He still has a long way to go and more surgery ahead but he is awake and recognizing everyone!

Luckily, he has no serious head injuries!  He does however have a broken neck (which for now they have him in a body collar and discussing if a halo is required).  The biggest concern right now are the 4 breaks in his Pelvis.  They have done temporary surgery to stabilize it but due to the risk of infection ... need to wait before surgery can be performed for a permanent fix. He is able to wiggle his toes so that is a very good sign!! He has a broken arm but obviously that not of much concern right now!  He also has a ruptured bladder & I believe small intestine.

He was very happy to have Morgan at his side and as much as she didn't want to leave, she knew her mother was right when she said he needed to rest now so his body could start to heal!   We would appreciate it if you continue to keep him in your prayers and I will be sure to keep you updated on his progress!  THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!  GOD'S WORK IS BEING DONE!!!

Irish Dinner ... a day late!

Good Evening Everyone!  Yesterday (St. Patty's Day) was supposed to be shared between my (Irish) husband & myself but plans were changed and I ended up spending my time in Pennsylvania with family instead! Which I totally enjoyed but felt bad that I left him alone on St. Patty's Day!!   Well, let me tell you I have the sweetest husband in the whole wide world!!

He decided since I was busy yesterday, we would have our "Irish Dinner" tonight and celebrate!  He did the shopping after work last evening (in my absence) and when he got home tonight he prepared this yummy dinner for us!!  It really wasn't a difficult dinner to make but it sure was GOOD!!!

He said they were all out of Corned Beef at our local specialty market by the time he got there so he bought Boar's Head Thick Sliced Bacon instead.  A small head of cabbage ... a few red potatoes ... couple of onions and THIS WAS DINNER!!  I'm not a cabbage lover so didn't think I'd like it!  And, not wanting to hurt his feelings I ate it and WOW ... it was awesome!!!  I think we'll be having this again in the future!  I might have to rethink the cabbage dislike!! LOL!!

Okay ... have a great evening (or morning) where ever you are, teehee!!  Just needed to share this with you!!

This is fun ...

Only ONE card to share with you today!!
Throughout this week, I have been sending a card each day to my Aunt Jenny who will be 80 next Tuesday, March 23rd.  I couldn't help myself on this one ... I just LOVE this image and I think she'll get a charge out of it too!!  (Sure hope so, LOL)
(click on image for larger view)

Isn't this image the sweetest think!!!  My aunt is of Polish decent and being from the "old country" and a very hard working people ... this lady actually resembles a few family members!! No disrespect intended!!!  She comes from Art Creations Friday ... if you haven't seen the vintage images available over there ... you really need to check it out!!

Here are the details on today's card:

Stamps:  Verses Rubber Stamp
Papers:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Kraft cs, Adornit designer paper
Inks:  Versafine Sepia
Accessories:  Art Creations Friday image, Detail Clear embossing powder, Prima flowers, Martha Stewart branch punch, Wright lace, Darice brass brad, ZIG Photo Twin markers (used to color in black/white images to complete that vintage look)

1st Challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters

(If you are here for my Penny's Challenge creation, please scroll down. Thanks)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

There's a new blog in town called: The Sisterhood of Crafter's and I happen to be one of the originating SISTERS!!!  How cool is that!  And, today is their very 1st Challenge ... here's the details:

Our 1st WEDNESDAY challenge is "Around The World".  With it being St. Patty's Day, I have chosen the country of IRELAND for today's challenge.  You can use "anything" that pertains to Ireland".  The colors of the Irish flag (green, white and orange), shamrocks, leprechauns, green beer ... well, you get the idea.  What comes to your mind when you hear the word IRELAND???

I have special reasons to celebrate when St. Patty's Day comes around.  First and foremost is the fact that my DH's mother is Irish ... with family names like McDermott and Gallagher.  The second reason is that my father was welcomed into Heaven on St. Patty's Day in 1989.  Two really good reasons to celebrate!!

I decided to make a set of coasters and matching card to send to my brother-in-law.  The images used are digis from Delicious Doodles ... aren't they just the cutest!  Please pop on over and check out Teri's digi images ... I'm sure you'll find something "you just can't live without!".    I have used the colors of the Irish flag for my card creation and the designer paper is Pixie Press.  Prisma pencils and gamsol were used for coloring and the embellishments came from JoAnn's.

I purchased a huge stack of chipboard coasters from a friend over a year ago and finally found the right time to use a few of them.  After attaching the designer paper with Mod Podge, I inked the edges using SU garden green ink and a sponge.  The images were printed out, colored with Prisma pencils/gamsol as well as Prismacolor markers, cut out with a Fiskars swivel craft knife and attached with double face adhesive.  Another two coats of Mod Podge were sponge painted over the top to seal.

For additional inspiration, please check out my SISTAH'S blogs which are linked in my sidebar!  They are AMAZING!!!

NOW it's your turn!  We can't wait to see what you create and would love to have you direct link it back here on Mr. Linky on the Sisterhood Blog.  If you are uploading your creation to other online galleries, please use the keyword/tag of TSOC01Please grab out badge and help spread the word!  Have fun!  That's what "The Sisterhood" is all about!!!!

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge - Birthdays

WOW ... Wednesday again already!!

I know, I say that every Wednesday don't I??
I'll try for something different next week, LOL!!

Anyways ... it's time for another challenge over at Penny's!  Today she has asked us to think about BIRTHDAYS and I know exactly who this card is going to ... teehee ... hope she likes it!!

I just love how this card turned out!!  I saw the sketch over on StampTV but when I went back to find the originator ... of course I couldn't find it again!  I hate when I do that!!  So if this is your sketch idea ... please let me know so I can give you full credit!!

I did alter it slightly by using a grouping of flowers up  around the ribbon center and since I didn't have the fancy large scallop edge punch, I used a Crystal Lite container and drew my circles & cut with scissors.  Hey, it worked!  LOL!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek!  Please pop over to my other design team friends blogs and see what they've come up with ... what a wonderful array of inspiration!

OH YEA ... before I forget {again} ... Penny has a great sale going on right now!  Here's the details:

Midnight Madness & Crafty Secrets

Hello Again ...

Okay, so I took the EASY way out on the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week!  I've caught a cold (thanks to the little neighbor girl) and I just couldn't wrap my brain around the more detailed version of the sketch!!    Have you been over to Priscilla's Blog lately??  WOW, she sure has a LOT OF EXCITEMENT going on right now!!!  I'm talking HUGE BLOG CANDY .... MIDNIGHT CRUISE ... okay, have I peeked your interest??

What do you think of this little cutie??  She's only one of the many vintage images shared over on the Art Creations Friday Blog.  I based my background paper color on the blue tones used on the photo matting.  This was easy since I used a two sided SU designer paper ... one side for the background and the flip side for the other two panels.  (told you the brain wasn't working much tonight!!)

You know I'm looking at this card while I'm typing up my blog post and I'm thinking, "hey, I have several old family photos like this ... I should scan them and use them for my creation" ... what better vintage images to use than those of the ones you love ... then I could send it to another family member!  Great idea, huh!!

The recipe for this card is pretty simple since it has no stamps or ink.  Besides the designer paper & image I mentioned above ... the only other embellishments are the Bazzill paper flowers & Offray satin flowers in the center.

* * * * * * * * * * *

The 2nd card I have to share with you this evening is for today's Crafty Secrets Forum Challenge over on Splitcoast Stamper.  Our hostess today is Pammyjo and she has asked us to "Stamp on Ribbon".    Have you ever tried this technique??  This was my first time so I wasn't sure on what ink to use ... I was afraid of it bleeding so I decided to use Stazon.  I did, however, see others used Versafine on satin ribbon and it worked okay.  Guess I'll have to try this one again!!
My background paper is by Remember When and I purchased it yesterday at JoAnn's (5 sheets for $1).  My stampset is Crafty Secrets "Happy Easter".  The ribbon is grosgrain from Michael's and I've used Nestabilities classic & scallop circle dies for the matting.  I got a little "carried away" with the purple Stickles but there was too much empty space and I just lost my mind for a moment!!!

This was a fun technique ... you really should give it a whirl!!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a peek!  Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for the DEBUT of THE SISTERHOOD!!!

Things that make me smile ....

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!!

Today a have a couple cards to share with you.
Not for any design team ... just playing and having fun creations!

First I have the first of many Birthday cards I will be making for my Aunt Jenny.  She's the sweetest lady and she will be 80 next week.  My cousin Beverly (Aunt Jenny's daughter) called me over the weekend to ask if I would send her a card for her birthday.  She (Aunt Jenny) doesn't want any fuss or party so her kids thought they'd try to have her showered with cards.  WELL ... of course I said yes and clued my cousin in on the idea I had.  Not only will I send her a card for her birthday, but I intend to make a new card and mail it each day (started yesterday) until her birthday!  She will probably think I have lost my mind but I know she likes my cards and will enjoy the special attention!   Here is the card I made & sent today.
This Paper Pizazz is actually left over from another 6 card/box set I made for my Mom.  I knew it would be perfect for my Aunt!!

***********
Another card I made today is a fun Easter "card on a card" creation using my new Nestabilities Easter Egg dies.  I used the largest one for my "focus" image, covered it with Paper Pizzazz dp then used a smaller die for my sentiment panel. A touch of purple Stickles around the outer edge really helps make it stand out!! (even though that's hard to see in the photo)  The other designer paper is from the DCWV Nana's Nursery Baby Boy paper pack.  I can't believe my camera actually showed the true color ... purple is difficult to photograph!  Do you have that problem??

The corners were created using the Martha Stewart loop corner punch and dabs of purple Stickles.  I used a scrap piece of Offray sheer yellow ribbon for the opening handle.

This cute little image if from Great Impressions and I've used Prismacolor Markers for my coloring.  I wasn't thinking when I cut my egg out of Tempting Turquoise what I was going to put on the inside ... so when I colored my little duckie YELLOW ... it actually came out kind of GREEN ... Oooops!!  I still think it is cute and am sure the recipient will like it too!!

***********

NOW ... for the one thing that really made me SMILE today!  The sun is shining today although it's still a little cool ... (50's) ... but warm enough to make my crocus pop out in bloom  along my sidewalk!  What a delight to see spring flowers again ... it just warms my heart when I see Spring beginning to show up everywhere I look.

It's still early but it is enough to warm my heart and lift my spirits!!  Winter was fun but very long this year ... everyone is more than ready for Spring and these little lovelies give us great hope!

I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!  Tomorrow is a BIG day for me!!  I'm headed "back home" to get my hair done at my sister's shop very early in the morning ... then over to help Mom with computer work.  Isn't it awesome that she's 80 and still willing to learn something new on the computer!!  I sure give her credit!!

Now besides all of this, tomorrow is the CHALLENGE DEBUT over on THE SISTERHOOD and I will be your hostess!  WOW ... I sure hope blogger is kind to me and comes live when requested, LOL!!    AND ... it's another PENNY's CHALLENGE day ... Shew ... sure going to be a busy day!!!  I hope you come and join in on the fun!  See you then!!  Thanks for stopping by today!

SHARING ...

Happy Sunday Everyone!
It's another rainy day here in NE Ohio but that's okay,
that means I can go to the crafting cave and create!

These past few days have been all about SHARING for me!  My friends Lana (Blest With Stamps) and Terri (Terri's Cards 'N More) came to play last Thursday and we had such a fun time and laughed so hard that some of us experienced bladder problem (not saying who ... LOL)!  Here is a card I made using a Penny Black image that Lana shared and Pixie Press Easter dp that Terri shared.  Please take a moment, stop by their blogs and share a little love ... they are both relatively new bloggers and I'm sure it will make their day!!
Another card I would like to share with you today is one I made to send my Irish Mother-in-Law.  Unfortunately Mother suffers from Alzeiheimer's and is in a home, but I know somewhere inside her mind she will realize what this card represents and smile!  At least I'm hoping so!!  Mother's parents were McDermott & Gallagher ... you can't get much more Irish than that!!!  I pray this card makes her Irish eyes smile!!!  This mail image is a FREEBIE from Crafty Secrets!  Isn't she adorable all dressed up for the parade!!  You can get your image HERE.  Be sure to check out all the new, beautiful products available through Crafty Secrets.  They have been really busy designing new products and creating amazing projects to share with you!!

For the past week or so I have been SHARING with you several different Easter Easel cards I have been making for MY Mother to give her sisters/brother for Easter.  My mother came from a family of 9 girls & 3 boys.  She is next to the youngest and is 80 years old.  She is blessed to still have 3 sisters & 1 brother remaining and even though they are all "getting up there", they still get together once a week and play cards.  Usually poker I think ... and yes, they play for money!!  Only nickles & dimes now ... but it helps keep their minds sharp ... and sharp they are!!!!!  This is the last easel card I need to make for her and I kept it simple ... thinking she might want to use it for my Uncle ... not too much foo foo on this one!
LASTLY I would like to share with you the simple fact of how important FAMILY is!  We only have one daughter (Carolyn) who is married to a great guy (Frank) and two grandkids (Morgan -soon to be 18) and Jonathan (13 in Sept.).  They live an hour away and with their busy lives we don't get to see them as often as we once did!    I decided to go out on a limb and ask them over for dinner last evening and luckily they had the evening open and accepted the invitation.  YIPPEE!!  I scurried around deciding what was for dinner, and decided on  Fresh Fruit, Mozzarella filled Chicken roll ups, Hash Brown Casserole and Cherry Upside-down cake for dessert.

I forgot to take any photos ... I was having such a good time just visiting and talking!  Morgan graduates from High School in May so we were discussing her Graduation Party and making the invitation for this event.  Before I knew it, it was time for them to leave and after quickly making up a "goodie bag" for them to take home, they were on their way!

Why is it that time goes by so quickly ... especially when you are with the ones you love???   So, on an ending note ... reach out and give a big hug to those around you ... let them know how much you love them ... because time sure is flying by!!!

Please know I am sending a big HUG out to all of you!  You have become my cyber family and I truly care about each of you!  I have made so many wonderful, loving friends through my blog ... you'll never know how much it mean to me  ... knowing you are here if I need you!   Enjoy the rest of your weekend !  HUGS to YA!!
