Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

 Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

The wood block stamps I've used today are Inkadinkado (birdnest) and a sentiment stamp from an OLD Stampin' Up set called 'Spring Song'.

My background designer paper is from a P13 6x6 pack called 'Time to Relax'.
After coloring my image with Tombow markers, I rounded the top corners and matted it with a scrap of purple card stock and rounded the top corners on the matting.  Nuvo purple crystal drops were used on the sentiment & image panels for a bit of dimension.

3D Embossing Folder fun . . .

 Happy Monday Evening all!

Been a busy day between cleaning, going to the gym & lending a helping hand to hubby on his guest bathroom redo project!  But I spotted a technique that I just had to try and create a card to share before calling it a day!

I spotted this fun technique over a the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog

Group of Seven Badge

The technique is called 'Dry Embossed Highlights over Ink Blending'.
Be sure to pop over and check out all the details!  They even offer up a couple videos to help get you going.  I kind of did mine a 'little' different,

Truth be told, after sponging the panel I wanted to use for my embossing and highlighting, I accidentally embossed the 'wrong' side of my sponged panel so my embossing came out on the white side vs the purple side.  DUH!!!

So, instead of starting over (which I should have done but time was slipping away from me), I inked over my embossed image in purple then lightened it with the white but it didn't do what I wanted so I highlighted with the same color but a little 'heavier handed'.  Was still a beautiful panel so here we are!!  lol

 Product used:

Lisa Horton 'Wild Flower Spray' 3D embossing folder
Paper Rose 'Stitched Rectangle Frames' #16679
Martha Stewart '3-in-1 Butterfly' Punch
Gemini 'Awesome' #GEMMDAWE
Tim Holtz 'Wilted Violet' distress oxide ink
Tombow #665 Marker

Be sure to pop over and check out this blog!
Some awesome techniques and samples!

Can You Handle the Pressure - Twist - Masculine

Hello Friends, thanks for stopping by today!

We have a new challenge starting today over on our new Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge Blog and the TWIST theme is ...

Masculine
(adults or kids)

Remember, the twist is optional but you MUST use an embossing folder on our projects to qualify for the prize.  Heat embossing is also permitted but only in conjunction with an embossing folder.

Here's what I've created to inspire you today.

Today's card began with embossing my white card stock panel using an older Simon Says embossing folder called 'Forest Border' (#SF209).  Then using the TH green distress oxide ink left in one of my large daubers, I gently sponged a little color over the 3D trees.

Next, on a scrap of white card stock, I stamped an old Inkadinkado wooden block stamp called 'Snowy Winter Cabin' (#99417).   After stamping a small sentiment above the image, I fussy cut the image and added to the front of my embossed panel.  A little color was added with Tombow markers.

I do hope you'll come check out our challenge blog and play along.
