Wish You Were Here . . .

Hello Friends!
Before all the 4th of July festivities begins, I wanted to play along
with the fun challenge over at the Pause Dream Enjoy blog where the theme is

Ch# 179 Summer Fun

Optional: Fun Fold Cards

I really had fun creating my background using some of the new Tim Holtz oxide ink colors, masking medium and a paint brush.  After the panel was dry, I went in with another paint brush and added Delta Creative 'Ceramcoat Pearl Finish' to create the waves in the ocean and shoreline.  Here's a better photo so you can see the waves.

And, as you can see I made an EASEL card  for the optional 'fun fold' portion of the challenge.  I was going to use seashells to for my front panel to rest upon but then spotted this cute 'Memory Box Sandal Border' and thought 'How Fun would that be!' ... I'm kind of a flip flop junkie!!  LOL

I die cut my flip flop border 6 times, coloring only one of the panels using a variety of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers then glued them all together ... looks so cool in real life!  LOL

And, here's the card closed.

Well, it's time to make the Grilled Chicken Salads for dinner so I'd better get moving!

The Sisterhood of Crafters - Buttons

Hello Dear Friends!
It's time once again for a new challenge at

Our hostess today is Anna and she has chosen the theme ...

BUTTONS

I must admit I rarely use buttons on my cards.
Probably because it might add bulk which then adds costs for mailing.  I sell a lot of my cards and the ladies either want one stamp creations or they don't give a hoot and go for the ones with lots of layers &  embellishments!  LOL

But today, when I saw Anna's theme, my mind went immediately went to the old 'button jar' my mom & grandmother both had.
Back in the day ... (giving away my age) ... we did our laundry with the old wringer washer.  Well, it never failed, if you didn't get the blouses & shirts started through the wringer proper, you were sure to pop off a few buttons.  When this happened Mom would simply add them to the jar along with all the buttons that were cut from older garments that were being discarded.  And trust me ... nothing was 'discarded' until it was WELL WORN by several in the family!
Do you remember the days of HAND ME DOWNS?  LOL

And the jar we used was usually a quart size canning jar (aka Mason Jar).
There were always a lot of those around because we home canned everything under the sun!!  We had a huge garden and with three of us girls, we spent many hours helping Mom do the canning every summer/fall.

Double D - Wedding

Hello friends!
I'm so happy you've come to visit!

Today I have a fun creation made for the new challenge at the Double D Challenge blog where Team Darlene is hosting and the theme is ANYTHING WEDDING!

Here's the fabulous mood board created for your inspiration ...

While at the Adventures in Stamping Convention back in April, I saw this die cut by Our Daily Bread and just had to have it!  I can think of so many things to do with it but first and foremost was a wedding gazebo for my Tutti Designs Dancing Couple.
What do you think?

I've die cut the Tutti Designs Dancing Couple twice in order to create a 'shadow' which makes them stand out from all the white background.  The corner flowers were created using the Cheery Lynn Designs 'Sweet Williams' strip die and  Frantic Stamper 'Spring Ivy'.  All cut from white card stock, shaped & formed into my corner floral accent.  Nuvo Ivory Seashell crystal drops adorn the flower centers.

You will LOVE the creations our design teams have to share today!
I tell you ... these ladies are SO creative!
Please come join in the fun and remember, one lucky random.org drawn
entry will win this awesome prize.

Best Day Ever . . .

Hello Everyone and Happy Weekend!

We are headed out to another graduation party today
and this one is over in my family stompin' grounds of Darlington, PA.
But before we head out I wanted to create &  join in some of
the fun 'underwater challenges' I've seen going on in blogland.

OMG!  I had so much fun making this card and I think it could be used for a variety of occasions!

The first thing I did was create my 'water' background using the new Tim Holtz Oxide Distress Inks.  I've used only two colors ... Pistachio and Broken China.  I love creating backgrounds with these new inks ... so much fun!
My 'sea creatures' are from the Frantic Stamper 'Sea Creature Icons' and I cut from light gray card stock then after viewing these creatures on Google, I did some coloring with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

I don't have much time so I'll make this short & sweet.  If you have any questions please leave me a comment and I will get back to you with the answer.  All products used is listed below.

Happy Everything ...

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I've created a card that could cover a multitude of occasions!
With this sweet Imagine That! Creative Playground 'Pretty Petunias' digi image and this 'Awesome' Penny Black die set, it took no time at all to create this fun & functional card.
What do you think?

The background paper I have used is 'as old as the hills' and was in a stack of 6x6 cuts I purchased from a SU rep years ago.  I must admit, that was a really good idea she had.  She took all the old 12x12 SU designer paper she had left over in her paper packs ... cut they 6x6 and sold them as a variety pack.  That made for a wonderful variety and who doesn't like a reasonable price to top it off??

I've created this card for the Imagine That! Creative Playground June Challenge which is Anything Goes AND if you use any of their Imagine That! digital stamps as the main focus on your creation, you will receive the Featured Digi Set (outlines & color) FREE!  What a deal and these digis are awesome!  Be sure to pop over to see the ADORABLE stamp set being featured for June!

For today's card, I have printed the 'outline' stamp of the petunia and inserted the 'colored' hummingbird into the scene before printing and coloring.

After printing my image and doing the coloring with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I didn't like all the 'white space' (I really struggle with white space, lol) so I grabbed a few of my new Tim Holtz oxide ink pads, speared some on my craft mat, sprayed with water and proceeded in drawing some onto a paint brush and FLICKING the background.  Cool ... I'm happier with that!  LOL

I had this scrap of  turquoise cardstock laying on the top of the scrap bin from an earlier project so thought it would be a pretty contrast color to use as my mat panel.  THEN when I decided on my sentiment, there was just enough left to die cut my sentiment panel ... YAY!!  Don't you love it when a plan comes together!  LOL

I popped up the focus panel with dimensional tape, added a few vines and VIOLA!

Sketchabilities #149

Happy Thursday All!
Another weekend is upon us and another graduation party ...
my how time is flying by!  I'm really starting to feel old!  LOL

Anyways ... a few years back, Karan Gerber had a sketch challenge blog
called 'Sketchabilities'.  I was fortunate enough to be a member of her DT for a term or two and loved every sketch she challenged us with.  Her life got VERY busy so she had to close her challenge blogs but she's had so many requests and lovely comments about how much they were missed that she's offering up a new sketch for us to create from, share and be inspired by.  You can see all the details HERE . . .

The sketch I'm working from today is #149

Here's what I came up with . . .

What fun I had diving into one of Karan's sketches again!  I haven't had my stencils out in month, not to mention the Tim Holtz tissue tape ... it's been a few YEARS since I last used that!!   I really had to 'think outside the box' to come up with elements I was happy with but knew I wanted to do something with one of the many 'vintage' images I have from the TJ Designs company that I purchased at the Adventures in Stamping Convention several years ago.

Do you enjoy a challenging sketch?
If your answer is yes, then by all means come play along!
I always enjoy seeing what others envision when looking at the same sketch!

Busy day today so I really must cut this short.
All products used on my creation are listed below!
Have a wonderful day everyone . . .

Sisterhood of Crafters - Use Your Imagination

Hello dear friends ...
It's time again for a new challenge at the
Today's hostess is Agata and her theme is:

USE YOUR IMAGINATION
(Anything Goes ... Be creative)

In mid-May I spotted a tutorial for this cute little
treat box and immediately thought I'd like to give it a try
for today's challenge.  I'm not really good (at least I don't think I am)
creating 3d type projects so when I see something that appeals
to me I just have to give it a whirl.

This tutorial was on the Scor-pal blog and was shared by Patti J Gilliam.
I won't bother rewriting all the measurement & details
since Patti did an awesome job of that on the blog.

I've used a 12x12 sheet of double sided Heartfelt Creations paper
and decorated with a Wild Orchid flower and red Stickles.

Butterflies in Flight

Hello my friends!
How excited am I to share a creation with you today
that was designed for the Crafting By Design Challenge Blog!
Back in April, I was chosen as a Spotlight Winner
and was asked to be a guest designer for June ... what an honor!
Thanks so much Doris!

The theme for this weeks challenge is:

THINGS WITH WINGS

and the sponsor is:

Prize - $10 gift certificate to store

Here's what I have created . . .

Yep ... some of you may have guessed,
I am playing with my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks again to create my background panel and my butterfly spray.  I used various colors for the background panel but only the Broken China and Wilted Violet for the panel I die cut this beautiful Memory Box 'Fairyland Butterflies' die.

To create a 'backdrop' for my butterflies, I used the Memory Box 'Cross Stitched Frame Borders' die set.  I used various sizes to create these two panels then popped up the outside panel with dimensional tape.

A couple drops of Nuvo White Crystal Drops were added to the body of the butterflies to add more dimension.  The sentiment I have used today is from a very old Stampin' Up set (circa 2006) called Song Birds.  A few coordinating sequins and my card is ready to send.

Here's a peek at the inside:
