Double D - Feathers

Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

FEATHERS

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

 Here's what I've created today ...

I seem to always be in need of sympathy cards these days so thought the 'feathers' theme would work well for a masculine sympathy card.   Though hard to see in the photo, I've used a brown 'leather' like background card stock then splattered my white panel using Tattered Angel 'Bronze' Glimmer Mist.

The feathers came from the Stamperia 'Forest' paper cut outs and I used some very old brown Hemp for the accent.  My sentiment is by Creative Imprints Rubber Stamps which I picked up at the Adventures in Stamping Convention a few years back.

Double D - Your Favorite Fruit

Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

YOUR FAVORITE FRUIT

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

YUMMM ...who doesn't like a fresh bowl of fruit?

Here's what I've created for you today . . .

When growing up, we always used a basket when going berry picking so I thought the Lisa Horton 'Weave' embossing folder would work perfectly for the background to go with my Stamperia 'Forest' paper cut outs.  I've used the left over ink on my large brown & yellow daubers (TH distress oxide inks) to add some color to the basket weaving.

I created my sentiment on the computer then die cut it using Tutti Designs Stitched Scallop Rectangle dies after printing.

Double D - Potpourri

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

POTPOURRI

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

 WOW!  SO many options here!
I went this way ... then that way ... and noticed I kept coming back to the colors in the upper right corner so THAT is where my card started!  Grabbing the colors that caught my eye, I cut 1/2" and 1" strips and created my background panel.

And, since there are flowers in that image, I went to my 3D toppers and chose this one from the 'Flowers in Watering Can' (HC14214) to use for my focus image.  Coordinating Nuvo Drops (sorry got carried away lol) were used as an accent.

Double D - Tropical

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

TROPICAL

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

Awww to be on a tropical island right now would be FABULOUS!
Will have to consult hubby about that idea!  LOL

Here's what I came up with today using some very old Darice product that has been hanging around forever!!  Nice to finally put this lovely gal to use!

This sticker was actually 'spring loaded' but I removed the spring (it was kind of wonky) and popped her up instead.  The flip flops are an old Cheery Lynn Designs die and the paper has been in my stash for awhile now too.

The frame was hanging on the extras' pegboard and I inked up a scrap of white paper and glued it to the back of the frame to create the beach/sky background for her.

Double D - Bows

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

BOWS

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

Now this is an interesting theme don't you think?
I don't use ribbon on my cards like I used to ... adds bulk which means more for postage and with the rates going up every 3 months I only use ribbon or bulk if it's a hand delivered card.  Here's what I created for your inspiration today . . .

Product used:
Mintay 'Lilac Garden' 6x6 paper
P13 'Time to Relax' 6x6 paper
Creative Expressions 'Birthday' Wordies sentiment sheet
Cheery Lynn Designs 'Pretty Pretty Bows' die set (no longer in business)
Martha Stewart Lace Border Punch
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch

Double D - Splatter

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

SPLATTER

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

OMG what fun I had today playing with my sprays, ink, etc.
I ended up using a variety of sprays which I haven't used in YEARS for today's creation.

I must admit, this was NOT my first attempt at this card.
In fact, not what I had in mind at all!  LOL  But I love the outcome.

I spritzed & sprayed a variety of OLD Dylusions, Tattered Angels & BoBunny sprays onto a scrap of white paper.  Let it dry then die cut this (also OLD) Memory Box 'Fairyland Butterflies' (#99078) panel.  Then I got the bright idea to spritz another panel using the same colors and die cut a frame.  I've used one of my favorite frame die sets, Paper Rose 'Stitched Rectangle Frames' (#16679).

I've popped up the frame using dimensional tape and attached the butterflies here & there on the frame and a couple little spots inside the frame to give it movement.  A few gold Nuvo Drops and my card is complete.

Double D - Watercolor

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

WATERCOLOR

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

What a fun theme ... I don't do this technique nearly enough!  I'm always happy with the outcome!  Here's what I've created for you today using a product I haven't used in YEARS!  That is Ken Oliver 'Color Bursts' and watercolor paper.  I don't see where he even carries them in his store any longer.

I actually made two panels ... there was so much color on this panel I placed another watercolor panel on top and smooched them together.  I'll use that second panel on another card for the sale boxes.

The floral stamp is from the Penny Black 'Finest Petals' (#31-138) set.

I used an artist brush and a little more water on the stem, leaves and bud to remove a little more of the color.  I'm very happy with the outcome.  What do you think?

Double D - Tea or Coffee

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

TEA or COFFEE

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

I could have gone in so many directions on today's card but here's what I ended up with and I'm very happy with the outcome  . . .

As you all know, I just love these 3D toppers!  They make such a quick & lovely card!  This one is from the Hearty Crafts 'Coffee & Tea' (#HC9069).  I had the frame hanging on my extras peg board and thought the 'chocolate' color would work well with the coffee theme.  My background paper comes from a 6x6  pack called 'Coffee Break' by P13 (thanks Diane for the RAK).

Double D - Humor

Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

HUMOR

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

I bought a few Unity Stamps 'Pissy Kitty' stamp sets last year and thought they would be fun for the 'Humorous' category of my Craft Show sale boxes.  Here's my card using just 1 of the 3 sets I purchased.

I know so many people that this card would fit ... do you??  LOL

Double D - Easter / Church / Cross

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

EASTER / CHURCH / CROSS

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

WOW!  It's hard to believe Easter is just a couple of weeks away!

Today I pulled out so OLDIES to play with and here's what I came up with . . .

The background papers I've used are from a very old the Paper Studio pack called 'Kirby Teesdale Studio' which was purchased at Hobby Lobby.  Believe it or not, this paper pack is still available (at least I see it is online through the Hobby Lobby website).

 Selected Product Image

I combined a couple different papers and on the one sheet I cut a 2 1/2" panel then punched a decorative edge using a very old Martha Stewart 'Floral Vine' punch (egads ... haven't used that in years! lol).  I see you can still find these punches out on EBay.

The image is one from a Graphic45 paper pad.
An Easter sentiment & Prima flower were all that was needed to complete today's card.
Green Nuvo Crystal Drops was used for my flower's center.

Double D - Books/Bookmark/Stamps

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!

Here's today's theme:

Book / Bookmark / Stamps

and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .

WOW!  Now here is something I never thought to create but what a great idea!  Thanks Diane!!

Today I went with Bookmarks ... using the same Paper Rose 'Dear Isabella' paper pack and a few little goodies from my stash like the Prima flowers & silk butterflies.  I also used two of my OLD Martha Stewart butterfly punches (for the bookmark in the center).  The base was created using the old Cheery Lynn Designs (no longer in business) 'Fishtail Banner' largest die in the set.

Here are individual images so you can click on each one to see it closer/larger if you'd like.
