Time to play in the sand . . .

Happy Friday Everyone!
The weather is SO BEAUTIFUL here in Ohio right now that I'm having a very difficult time staying in my crafting cave and getting creative!  Even though it is 'work' ... I love being outside on a day like today weeding playing in my flower gardens, mowing the lawn (always looks so good in late spring/early summer) and just getting everything looking so nice after a long, cold winter!

But I have been wanting to play along in a few of my favorite challenges (started this card earlier in the week) so am taking the time today to get creative (indoors).  LOL!

The current challenge at Frilly and Funkie is Vintage Seaside and the current Cheery Lynn Designs challenge is Roses.  Both of which where on my mind when putting this card together!

I have had a few packs of vintage images in my stash for a couple of years now (purchased at Adventures in Stamping - Akron)  and I was certain I'd find something appropriate in one of those packs and I did!  LOVE these kids playing in the sand at the beach and I couldn't wait to try out my new Cheery Lynn Designs SMALL flower making strip dies.

I've also taken the opportunity to use up a few extra die cuts that have been laying on my worktable.

Here's a few additional challenges to share in ...
Alphabet Challenge - H for Handmade Embellishments (roses)
Art By Miran Challenge #7 - Anything Goes
Cut It Up #46 - Summer Vacation

I hope you're having a fabulous week and thanks so much for stopping by!
As always ...

Sisterhood - Tag You're It

Hello Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters!
Diane H. is our hostess and our theme this time around is

TAG YOU'RE IT!
(make a tag or a project using a tag)

I must admit, I don't make a lot of tags.  Guess that means I don't give enough gifts ... otherwise I'd need tags to put on them!  LOL!  Will have to give that some thought ... might need to start doing more gift giving just so I can make some of the beautiful tag ideas my 'sistahs' have shared today!

Several 'old' & 'new' elements went into this tag!
The actual tag was created from a sample piece I had embossed using one of my new Spellbinder M-bossabilities embossing folders (ornamental iron).  A really old Martha Stewart border punch was used for the bottom and the floral panels is actually Around the Block 'Floral Frame Tape' that I had totally forgotten I even had.  I used Memento 'bamboo leaves' to sponge on the color of the bottom panel and Spectrum Noir markers to color in the delicate floral tape on the top of my tag.
The flower, bird and scroll were all pieces I had laying on my work table from other projects and thought would work perfectly for today's tag.

I just LOVE the Crafty Secrets Digital Birds & Blossoms 4-Page download!  So many fabulous images that can be printed and used for a variety of themes!  This particular image is actually a journaling tag ... you just can see the journaling  lines because they are covered by my bird & ribbon. Speaking of ribbon ... this is some of the new ribbon I purchased through Really Reasonable Ribbon (thanks Kathy) and just LOVE it!  I've been wanting some of the seam binding I see on everyone's beautiful creations and now I have some!  Yippee!

A few challenges to share in:
Craft-room Challenge - Things with Wings
Deep Ocean Challenge - Wings
Artistic Inspirations - Anything Goes / Twist: Things with Wings

Well, I'd better get busy!  I've kind of fallen behind on my crafting duties since I was out in Michigan/Indiana 'playing' with Midwest crafting friends and then being Nanna during granddaughter Morgan's hip surgery.  UPDATE:  Morgan is home (with her parents) and doing well.  She has her followup doctor appointment next Monday then hopefully she'll be able to function by herself at her own home.  Thanks everyone for your prayers and support!  She still has a long recovery road ahead ... but I'm sure God is watching over her!

Have a great day everyone!

Ooops ... missed your Birthday!

It's Dies R Us Inspiration Time!
Hello my friends!  Thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you had a FABULOUS Memorial Day Weekend!

You would think with all the cards I have made, I would remember to send one to family members on their birthdays!  But no ... now I needed to create a belated card!  LOL!   Worked out okay though because I was able to use some of the extra die cuts I had laying on my work table.

I am really enjoying these new Memory Box stencils!  They are fabulous for creating a quick background as I have done here.  This stencil is called 'Textured Honey Comb' #88521.  I sponged with Memento 'cantaloupe' ink first then did the outer edges with SU 'more mustard' ink.  Then matted my panel using SU more mustard card stock.

Dies used today are:
Poppystamps ' Picket Fence' - #827

I hope you've found inspiration in today's creation!  Don't forget to come join us at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  A new challenge is offered on the 1st and 15th of each month with a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store awarded to one lucky winner for each challenge.

A few challenges I'd like to share in are:
Challenges 4 Everybody - Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenge - Things with Wings
Sentimental Sunday - Things with Wings

There are several different bunnies ... I picked two different styles and popped the front one up!

What a FUN WEEK ... and now I need your prayers!

Good Afternoon All!
Just a quick post to share a couple of photos from my Midwest Crafting Group FUN last week!  The time always FLIES BY when you're having fun crafting and when it's a group of your friends ... well, there just wasn't enough time to do everything we had hoped to do!

(L-R:  Linda (Diane's Sister), Gretchen Wilson, Judy Studer, Diane Hover, Bette Henson, Joan Fricker)

We linked up at Diane's (Nellie's Nest) house in Michigan on Friday and then again on Saturday at Joan's in Indiana!  Here we were working on a 'card in a box' project and then some embossing with the new Spellbinder 3D M-bossabilities dies.  What fun!!

On the left is Diane and NELLIE!
She's a Golden Doodle and just the sweetest dog ever.

On the right is the view out Diane's living room window!  WOW!  Yes, there is a creek that runs through Diane's backyard and across the creek I spotted deer nearly every evening I was there!  Such a peaceful scene and beautiful view!  If hubby had been there, I would have never been able to get him off the couch!  LOL!

One of the projects we played with at Diane's was a card technique that we spotted over on Linda Duke's Blog  using the new Spellbinder 3D M-bossabilities folders.  Isn't this gorgeous?  Well Linda Duke's is far better!  LOL!

And also we made a 'Card in a Box'.  I will share photos of that as soon as I have mine completed!  LOL!  But in the meantime, here's a peek at a couple of projects we did at Joan's on Saturday.
LOVE these designs and will be making more for my fall shows!
Joan learned how to make this card at a class she took while in FL over the winter.

Isn't this awesome!  Not only is it beautiful, it folds down and fits in an A2 envelope!  So many possibilities on this one!

Gretchen also shared a couple fabulous fold techniques with us!  The Twisted Easel and the Double Easel.  I will be making a lot more of these fancy fold style cards!!

NEED YOUR PRAYERS PLEASE!

My granddaughter, Morgan (22) had hip surgery this morning. Turns out she was born with Hip Dysplasia and after 3 arthroscopic surgeries last year to repair the tearing, it tore again and they decided to do full blown hip surgery where they would actually have to break her hip, remove it from the socket, repair the tear in the socket and any other damage and then put the hip back into place.  It's going to be a long road back but hopefully with lots of hard work, patience & prayer, she'll be 'as good as new' and can get her life back on track without pain.
Thank you for your prayers!

UPDATE:  Morgan's surgery went well!  Don't have all the details but evidently they did NOT have to put a brace in to hold her hip together (which is a good thing).  I'm headed to the hospital this morning to spend the day with her and daughter, Carolyn.  Carolyn is staying at the Ronald McDonald house right on Cleveland Clinic Campus.  Please keep the prayers going up ... now comes the hard part for Mo ... the healing!  She doesn't handle pain meds well (gets terribly sick) so it's going to be a tricky balance for her.  Thanks again!

Guest Designer for Crafting by Designs

Hello everyone!
I'm so excited to have been asked to be a guest designer at the Crafting by Designs blog.  Today their challenge is FRIENDS/FRIENDSHIP and here's the card I've created.

I thought I'd play around with stencils and inks today since I knew I wanted to make this sentiment my focus.  I've really enjoyed creating backgrounds with stencils ... so easy and fun.  I'm so hooked on dies these days that my poor stamps have been neglected terribly.  SO I grabbed an old favorite .. SU 'botanical blooms' to add a little 'floral pizazz' to my sentiment panel.  I used the same sponging colors as my stenciled background for the edge but used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers for the coloring on the flowers.

Truth be told ... I was doing a little 'clean up' while creating this card by using a few die cuts that were laying on my work table from previous projects.  (i.e. Garden Green border die, Purple butterfly, Ivory floral wreath)    It just seemed like the right thing to do and I'm happy with the outcome!  Hope you like it to!

A few other challenges to share in:
A Random Fan Challenge #9 - Anything Goes
Deep Ocean Challenge #78 - Wings
Artistic Inspirations Challenge - Anything Goes Punches and/or Dies (2nd entry)

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today ... it's always so nice to hear what you have to say!
Hope you're having a fabulous week!
As always ...

Wedding Bells ...

Hello Friends!
Time for another inspiration creation for the Dies R Us Inspiration blog and today I have a Wedding creation to share.  June is right around the corner and we all know that is the most popular wedding month in the year.  As a matter of fact, I have a June 22nd wedding to attend and I do believe THIS will be the card I'll be using for that occasion!

Sorry about the photo quality ... just as I was about to take this photo, one of the bulbs burned out in my tent lights and I didn't have a replacement.  In fact, I couldn't even get the old bulb out ... sounds like a job for hubby!
Dies purchased from our Dies R Us store that were used on today's creation are:

Marianne LR0300 border edge die.
This and other European company dies are offered from time to time as a pre-order special sale at our store.  Be watching for those special sale times as they are not companies carried on a routine basis.

This bell doily is so pretty and can be used not only for weddings but I think would be beautiful as a Christmas card creation all done up in red and green!

I recently obtained this pretty DCWV 'The Glitzy Pastels Stack' which worked perfectly with these ornate dies.  So even though I was thinking of doing this card in gold & white and had already inked the bells in gold, I die cut the center bells out again in the blue glitz paper and popped them up over the original bells on the doily. SO happy with the outcome.

You could add so much more to this card if your bride likes a lot of 'fluff' ... but my bride is a pretty 'simplistic' gal so this will be perfect for her.  I think this Cheery Lynn Designs flourish is so simple yet so elegant and pretty. I used a shiny gold metallic paper for today's flourish.  The pretty gold edged white organza ribbon added the perfect finishing touch.  I used my Craft-Dee Bowz bow making tool for the bow... easy and perfect every time.

A few other challenges:
Craft-Dee BowZ May Challenge - Anything Goes with handmade bow
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Anything Goes (entry #3)
2 Cute Ink Digital Stamps Challenge #106 - Use Glitter
Artistic Inspirations Challenge - Anything Goes Punches and/or Dies
Crafting From The Heart #19 - Anything Goes
Crafty Boots Challenge - Blue and White
Paper Minutes - Wedding

Hope you enjoyed my card today and found inspiration in it's design.  Remember to come join in our challenges at the new Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  You still have another week to get your card entered in the current theme which is 'May Flowers' ... hope to see you there!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Squigglefly - All Shapes and Sizes ...

MONDAY (again) and time for a new challenge at Squigglefly!

This time around the theme is:

All Shapes and Sizes
(Use various shapes/sizes on your creation.)

How much fun is this image by James Horvath - named 'Gizmo'.
Where do you think he's going in such a hurry??  LOL!

The different shapes/sizes I've used are:
Square cut focus image,
Herringbone pattern in my Lilybee Designs background paper,
Spellbinder Scallop Circles,
Marianne LR0236 outer die panel,
Martha Stewart 'vine trim',
Large foam letters,
Little, round googlie  eyes,
PunchBunch teeny tiny starburst punch pieces.

We all have a tendency to keep the same or similar shapes on our cards (me included) so this challenge took me a little outside my comfort zone!  How about you?  Up for the challenges?  I hope so because I'd love to see your interpretation of this theme!

Have a great day and thanks so much for the visit!
Till next time ...

Crafty Secrets Springtime Lovelies

Happy Friday my Friends!
I'm away from home, enjoying the fellowship of some Indiana, Illinois & Michigan crafting friends.  So while I'm busy crafting up a storm with these ladies, I wanted to share with you a card I made recently using more images from the fabulous Crafty Secrets Birds and Blossoms digital download.

The background paper came from the Crafty Secrets Digital Garden Papers DP-08.  I actually cut a portion of the beautiful sheet - garden_paper_11_floral_vines_gate on Page 2 (see below, top row - middle).

I  love it when I can use pieces & parts from other projects to complete a new project.
This portion of fencing was a left over, the flower petals were laying on my desk just 'begging' to be turned into a flower and this beautiful silk ribbon was given to me by one of the ladies I'm linking up with today ... oh so long ago.  I just hated to use it up but it was destined for this card creation since it was the perfect match!  (guess I need to do some ribbon shopping, lol)

A few challenges I'd like to share in are:
Craft-Dee BowZ May Challenge - Anything Goes with handmade bow
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Anything Goes (entry #2)
Blogger - Things with Wings
CRAFTITUDE #65 - Anything Goes/use a die
Crafts 4 Eternity #176 - To Die For

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I hope you're having as much fun as I am!
Till next time!

Outlawz - Twisted Thursday Challenge

Happy Thursday my Friends!
Another week nears the end and today ends my stretch of guest designing for the Twisted Thursday Challenge at the Outlawz!   It's been a fabulous ride and I can't thank Patricia St. Martin enough for asking me to join in!  What a wonderful group of ladies!!

Today's challenge TWIST is:
THINGS THAT FLY!

This month's sponsor is Stitchy Bear Stamps and I chose an image named 'GabbyBalloons' as my focus today! Isn't she the cutest little thing!

For today's card I took a dive into my scraps bin and here's what I came up with.
Unfortunately, when using scraps, I don't always have the manufacture name ... sorry about that!!
Not only did I dig around for papers that would work well together, I also blew the dust off my scrapbook sticker stash to come up with the birthday elements that matched in with this adorable image.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and the die cut used is Cheery Lynn Designs - Polynesian Sails Oval.  The center actually cuts out of this die so I hand cut this scrap lacy panel to use for my sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you've liked what you see!
Have a fabulous day and glorious weekend ahead!
Until next time . . .

Playing with Stencils ...

. . . at Joan's Touch!

The new challenge this week at Joan's Touch involves playing with stencils.  Joan just came back from a 2 day certification class in Chicago and shared some awesome tips with us ... be sure to pop over and check it out!  I've done my 'shadowing' with inks vs paste but I still like the outcome and hope you do too!
Here's this week's requirements ...

  • Use a stencil (would love it if you tried the shadow technique, but it is not a requirement
  • Combine 2 patterns of paper
  • Can be a card, a book, a note....
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.  Also, mention that you are doing the card/project for Joan's Touch Challenge. It would be nice if you would add this link to your post: www.joanstouch.com

  • I'm so glad Joan's has brought this idea to light since I've seen it done in the past and had totally forgotten about it and I love how it looks.  This would be a great technique to use for MANLY card creations!

Today I actually used a Martha Stewart stencil for my focus image along with 2 shades of Stampin' Up ink ... Summer Sun and More Mustard.  My pattern papers are from the DCWV Basics (2 sided) stack pack.  My choice of embellishments today are copper Kaiser pearls and my key embellishment is the Joy! Crafts die 'Cutting Keys 1' ... #6003/0039.  Oh, nearly forgot ... did a little doodling with a white gelly roll pen around my stenciled image too.

A few other challenges to share in:
Inky Chicks #29 - Clean and Simple
Crafting From the Heart - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Truth be told ... I'm crafting with Joan and my other Midwest friends this weekend.  I'm actually in Niles, Michigan at the moment with Diane H. (Nellie's Nest) and all the gals are coming here tomorrow ... then we are all linking up at Joan's on Saturday!  Can't wait to see them again ... what fun we have crafting, talking and eating!  And, not always in that order!   LOL!

who is offering up a stamp set of choice to one lucky winner!

I have TWO cards for you today ... one for a girl and one for a boy.  Well, actually the 1st card could go for either ... but with all the pink and lace, I would probably send it for a baby girl.

    Recipe:
Papers:  SU pink pirouette, white, SU baby blue, Paper Pizazz dp
Accessories:  Cheery Lynn Designs Anastasia Border die #B136, Marianne die #LR0300, Kaiser pearls, Nellie's Choice 'Sandra Kuck' vintage image

We have a new baby girl due ANY TIME in our neighborhood and since I'm actually away from home crafting with friends in the Midwest, my luck, she'll probably have her before I can get back home!  LOL!  That's okay ... as long as Mom & Baby are safe, healthy & happy ... I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to visit and help out with baby sitting.

A few other challenges I'd like to enter into are:
Craft-Dee BowZ May Challenge - Anything Goes with handmade bow

While Strolling Through the Park one day . . .

. . . in the merry, merry month of May!

    Happy Tuesday friends!
Tuesday means I, have another creation to share with you using dies from Dies R Us!  Each day Monday through Friday, one of the DT members has a new creation to share/inspire you over at the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.  Pop over any time to see what they've created!

It's getting to be THAT TIME OF YEAR when it feels so good to just take a stroll in the park,
so that is my theme for today!

This sweet baby carriage and garden bench worked perfectly with my Crafty Secrets 'Baby Memories' image.  And the pink 'doily' is actually the 'inside cut' from the Cheery Lynn Designs Polynesian Sails Oval die set.  A touch of Stickles sparkle was all that was needed to finish my sweet 'stroll in the park' scene.

Dies used on today's creation are:
    Spellbinder 'Blooms 4' - S2-047
    Spellbinder 'Garden Bench' - S2-085
Memory Box 'Baby Carriage' - #98528
Cheery Lynn Designs 'Polynesian Sails Oval' - DL153
Poppystamps 'Massa Leaf Outline' - #1023

    Stencils used:
    Memory Box 'Florina' - #88567
Memory Box 'Texture Mesh' - #88517
Did you notice the stencilling in the background?

I am having so much fun using these Memory Box stencils on the backgrounds for my cards.  Here I've actually used it over top of an already beautiful design paper from Pink Paislee's 'Butterfly Garden' 6x6 pack to give even more 'depth'.  I've used Tim Holtz 'spun sugar' and 'peeled paint' distress inks for my stencil sponging.

    ----------------->
The embossing on this Spellbinder Blooms 4 set is fabulous and shows up beautifully when 'curled' the opposite direction from the flower I've created today.  That's the fun of these dies ... you can condition them, spray them, ink them, crumple them and curl them any way you'd like to create a variety of flower patterns and looks!  Give it a try ... so much fun!  And this Poppystamp 'Massa Leaf Outline' is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

Of course I couldn't leave out the pink satin ribbon by Offray.  Any vintage styled creation deserves a touch of satin or lace and this narrow ribbon was the perfect touch for today's card.

A few challenges I'd like to share in are:
Cards Galore Encore Challenge - Anything Goes (entry #1)
Everybody Art Challenge - Shabby Chic

Well that's it for me today.  Remember, we also have a new Challenge Blog for Dies R Us and we'd love to have you come join in our challenges.  One lucky winner will receive a $10 gift voucher to the Dies R Us store for each challenge ... AWESOME!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a wonderful week!
    Till next time ...
