Squigglefly Challenge Time

Hello my friends!

It's time once again for a fun challenge at Squigglefly!

Today's theme is:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU!

I have used a sweet image by artist Cheryl Alger Grant called 'A Christmas Fairy'.  I have used non-traditional colors on this cute fairy and although my camera shows the background as red w/pink ... it is really more of a pink w/pink.  Oh well ... I tried!  LOL!

After printing her out twice the same size, I colored one image completely then coloring only the parts on the other image that I wanted to cut out for paper piecing and popping up (primarily her body/wings).  Oh and I also did the blue/pink holly in her hair.  All coloring was done with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

The snow was created by simply tearing an off cut of white card stock.  So quick and easy and perfect for any snow scene/holiday cards.

I'm sorry to say but this will be my last creation as a DT member for Squigglefly.  
I have been with the team for a long time and have enjoyed every moment ... but I think the time has come for me to step down and let someone else enjoy this fabulous group of ladies!  Thanks SO MUCH to Holley & Holly for their kindness and support.  Best of luck to these two ladies and all my team mates at Squigglefly ... I will miss you!

Squigglefly - Skip to my Lou

Morning friends!

We have a new challenge at Squigglefly and this week's theme is

SKIP TO MY LOU ...

(skipping traditional holiday colors)

I chose to create a New Years card with a new sentiment image from Squigglefly.

This was a fun challenge and making a New Years card is something I rarely do but think will be perfect for an upcoming craft show I have scheduled!  In fact, I think I'll make a few more!

This is a very CAS card for ME but I love how it quickly came together.  My background paper comes from the Paper Studio Harper's Boutique paper pack and my clock is from an old Spellbinder die set.  I die cut it from gold matte paper then sponged over it with Tim Holtz 'tea dye' distress ink.  A little faux stitching and VIOLA!!

Being SQUARE with Squigglefly

Hello All!

It's time for a new challenge over on Squigglefly and today's theme is to 

create a SQUARE card! 

Now I must admit square cards are something I rarely do ... mainly because here in the USA postage is MORE for square cards then it is for rectangular cards!  And, since I do sell my cards at craft shows, many people don't want to be bothered with the additional postage and just don't buy them!

Anyways ... here's my card for today's challenge and I've used this adorable Christmas Bird image by artist Sal Scheibe.  I've used my Spectrum Noir pencils and markers for my coloring and then used chalk to create the background sky.  I also used Liquid Pearls to create the snow ... can't have Christmas Birds without snow! And, since they are Christmas Birds, I felt a Merry Christmas (by Cheery Lynn Designs) sentiment was in order!  VIOLA!  Ready to mail ...

Squigglefly Challenge Time

Happy Monday All!

It's time for another fun challenge over at Squigglefly and today I have the pleasure of working with a fun image drawn by Cheryl Grant Alger called 'A Frosty Mug of Cocoa' ... so adorable!!  Our challenge theme today is to use PATTERNED PAPER.

I have SO MANY holiday/winter patterned papers laying on my table right now due to all the projects I'm working on for my past/upcoming craft shows and it wasn't hard to find a scrap to use for today's project that went perfectly with my cute image.

I've colored my snowman with my Spectrum Noir PENCILS and did a little fussy cutting in order to pop him up on the page!  My sentiment is from an older Verve stamp set and the snowflake background die is from Impression Obsession DIE-211 and was purchased through Dies R Us.  I love how quickly this card came together and so darn cute too!!

It's time once again for another FUN challenge over at Squigglefly!

HALLOWEEN or FALL

Although we get 100+ Trick or Treaters every year and it's fun to see them all in their costumes, Halloween isn't one of my favorite times of the year.  However, FALL IS so I'm going with Fall for today's card! 

I'm a big Pittsburgh Steeler fan (I'm from Pittsburgh so it's okay!) and Fall means Fall Football Time!!!

Isn't this little football player awesome?  It's an image by Cheryl Grant Alger called 'Touchdown'!  I just love all of Cheryl's images and this guys was fun to color up like a Pittsburgh Steeler in this black & gold!  I was also having some fun playing around with Fall colors on my Heartfelt Creations leaves and my 'scrabble styled' sentiment.

Squigglefly - SFC4014 - Leave Me Be ...

Happy Monday All!

Time for another fun challenge at Squigglefly!

Today's theme is

LEAVE ME BE!

LOL ... don't get scared ... it's not me lashing out ... it's simply a 'play on words' LOL!!

Meaning:  You can either use LEAVES on your creation ... OR use the theme of LEAVING (i.e. goodbye, travel, miss you) ... well, you get the picture.

I decided to go with Fall (or should I say 'falling') leaves and created my card using a new Angela Charles image called "Umbrella Girl".  The leaves are starting to fall from the trees so quickly this poor little girl needed her umbrella to protect her head!  LOL!

SFC3814 Pick a Color ...

Today we're having fun at Squigglefly by choosing one of these three colors to play with.

Orange, Black or Purple

I bet you thought I'd choose purple since it's my favorite color, lol!  But, when I chose the image to create with today, I just had to go with Orange!  (although you will see a couple touches of purple in there!  lol!)

MORNING ALL!

Hope your day/week are off to a glorious start!

This fun image is called 'Chicken Newscaster' by James Horvath and there are various sentiments included in this set to be 'plugged' into the sign.  After coloring with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I decided to go 'outside the box' and make it an EGG shape vs the typical square or circle!

I did, however, use my largest Spellbinder circle die as a template to cut the top portion then free handed the bottom part of my egg shape.

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fun challenge over at Squigglefly and our theme today is

HOW ABOUT SOME STRIPES?

I have chosen to gather my 'stripes' via the design paper I have used.  I wanted to be sure and showcase this cute image by Fawn Palmer called 'Hurt Bunny' properly, so kept my design fairly simple on this front step card.

The sentiment is also a part of this fun digi set.

I simply printed cut and shaped to create my banner.

SFC3414 - Help me go 'round' the block!

Hello my friends!

Can you believe we are at the end of August already???

Today I have a card to share with you that was created as my DT creation for the new challenge up today at the Squigglefly Blog and it is all about  

ROUNDED CORNERS!

Since it is BACK TO SCHOOL time here in Ohio and I'm sure many other states, I turned this fun 'NotePad and Pencil' image by James Horvath into a 'book and pencil' ... World History book to be exact!  Sure hope James doesn't mind!  LOL!  

History was one of my favorite subjects in school and I still really enjoy watching documentaries and TV programs about the history of our world ... just fascinating!!!

 Ooops sorry, I'm getting a bit off track ...

Since our challenge today is 'no square corners' I've rounded ALL my corners and used rounded embellishments (Frantic Stamper 'Gear Collage' die).  I actually split the die cut in half to position on the top & bottom corners of my focus image.  Tearing and distressing was used to give my card an 'aged' look and of course 'back in the day', twine was used to secure documents and maps.

I hope you'll get around to joining in our challenge!

Just remember 'no square corners'!  I can't wait to draw inspiration from what you create!

It's SQUIGGLEFLY CHALLENGE TIME!

And today it's all about those CHARMS!  

Whether it is a real jewelry charm, a die cut of a charm or even a sticker of a charm ... it all counts and we'd love to see it at the Squigglefly's SFC3214 Challenge.

Today I've used an image by artist Angela Charles called 'Jean Boy' and I have actually given him a new pair of jeans by paper piecing his pants with blue jean fabric paper.

To me, this guy looked like a guy with a bit of an attitude, who was willing to work and Get 'r Done!  Or maybe he's one of those 'car buffs' who doesn't mind sticking his head under the hood and 'kickin' it up' a notch!  LOL!  Either way he would need some tools so I supplied him with this awesome Wrench that I purchased at the Adventures in Stamping Convention in Akron a few years ago at the Inky Impressions Booth.  I'm pleased to say I know Nicole (Inky Mama) personally and she not only has some fabulous images but some really cute 'props' to go with them.

Squigglefly - Add some Twine

Happy Monday All ...

Here we are at the end of another month!  

EGADS!  Where's the time going?

Today I have a card to share for my DT spot over at Squigglefly and our

theme is ADD SOME TWINE.

This cute little guy is by artist Tam Hess and is called 'Fred - Whatever'.

I've kept my design pretty simple today to showcase Fred, whom I colored with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  My background design paper is from an OLD, OLD, 12x12 DCWV paper pack that I purchased at JoAnn's.  And the gold/white baker's twine was my twine of choice for this creation.

Squigglefly - Over the Edge . . .

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today's challenge over at Squigglefly is called "OVER THE EDGE".

Lately I've been so darn busy I feel like I'm ready to jump over the edge, lol!

But I won't because I have more cards to make and hopefully share with you lovely people!

Of course, 'over the edge' refers to going over the edge of your card, LOL!

Here's what I came up with using a fabulous image by new artist Norma Burnell called 'Magical Ride' (available in the store after July 5th).

With all the detail in this beautiful image, I found my new Spectrum Noir pencils worked best for my coloring.  They made it easy to get into those small spaces and blend the colors just the way I wanted them.  I actually Googled the Fuschia plant to get close to the correct colors.

You'll want to be sure to check out all the amazing creation by my team mates and don't miss JenLee's creation (and amazing coloring) using this same image!  A good example of how the same image can look so different when used by different artists (and Jen is definitely an artist in her own right!!!).

Squigglefly Challenge - Sunny Days

Happy Monday Everyone!

WOW!  Here we are in the last week of June!  Hard to believe!

Today I have a Squigglefly Challenge (SFC2614) creation to share with you and our theme this week is SUNNY DAYS.  But before I share my card with you I just have to give a shout out to our newest team member (I'm sure many of you are familiar with her amazing work) ... Jen Leeflang.  And if you're not familiar with Jen's body of work, check it out on her blog HERE.  I'm sure you'll be inspired!  

Okay back to my challenge card!

I just love the digi images by artist Cheryl Grant Alger and so today I've combined two of her cute images to create this little scene.

The two images I chose are:

Pigtail Gabby and The Game is in the Player

I simply brought each image into a blank Word10 document, grouped them together, sized and printed.  I colored my images with Spectrum Noir PENCILS (new to me) then colored the sky and grass with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  Once the sky was colored (TB1) I went back over it with the Blender to wash it out a bit for a more realistic sky.

My sun was created by using a large sponge pod and SU Summer Sun ink.

The sentiment was computer generated.

And the dies I've used are these cute little doggies from the Impression Obsession 'Puppies' #DIE142 set and the grass is Joy! Crafts #6002/0137.

SFC2414 - Summer Coloring Fun

Hello Everyone!  

Can you believe it is mid-June already!  WOW!

It's time for another fun challenge over at Squigglefly and today we're having some SUMMER COLORING FUN by using BLUE or ORANGE (or both) on your card creations.

I chose to create my little summer time scene using an image from Cheryl Grant Alger called 'Maddie's Blue Hat'.  Isn't she cute?  And I just love how that little lady bug is always with her somewhere!  LOL!

I wasn't sure what the 'theme' of my card was going to be but after coloring & matting, I decided it would make a nice 'Friendship' card for someone!  Don't you just LOVE Maddie's blue hat?  I must admit, I'm quite happy with my coloring today!  Even remembered to leave that little 'shine' spot on the toes of her shoes.

I've been on a 'buyer's spree' with dies & these fabulous new embossing folder that are available now so of course I just had to create a scene for Maddie using one of my newest Spellbinder M-bossabilities 'Dotted Flowers' (ES-011) embossing folder and various dies (all will be listed at the end of this post).

SFC2214 - Father's Day

Our new challenge today at Squigglefly is honoring DAD!

* Make a MANLY card for the guy in your life*

How cute is this doggy digi named 'Digger' by James Horvath!

Hubby loves dogs and since we don't actually have a dog, I thought he'd like this card for Father's Day!  I did buy him a dog a couple years ago for Christmas ... you know, one of those that looks real but isn't!  

No Mess ... my kind of dog!  LOL!  

But, I imagine, if we did have a dog, it would be a happy little guy just like Digger here!

My 'bone embellishment' was hand cut from a scrap of white card stock then sponged the edges with TH tea dye ink and a large sponge dauber.  Other than a flower in the corner ... I felt that was all the embellishment needed on this fun card.

The image is by Cheryl Grant Alger and is called 'The Game Is In The Player' ... what encouraging words!  The background 'Soccer ball' image is by James Horvath (a new artist for Squigglefly) and I decided to create my own background in Word10 by copy/pasting this image then adding a touch of color to the grass.  What do you think?

Flutterby - Butterfly at Squigglefly

Wow that title is kind of a tongue twister!!  LOL!

Hello friends and thanks for coming to visit me today!!!

The new challenge at Squigglefly this week is to 'Add a Butterfly' to your card.

It could be a die cut, a brad, sticker, in your image/paper ...

Well, you get the picture!!

 How cute is this image by Carmen Gamble called 'Easter Peeps'!

 I wanted to bring focus not only to my butterfly for the challenge but to this adorable image, so I tried a little different coloring/design scheme.  After printing, cutting and coloring my original image, I laid it on another large piece of white card stock and began coloring the grass and sky with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Then I matted each panel with black card stock and POPPED up the focus image using pop dots.

The cute bunny on the left appeared to be looking up at 'something' so I decided it must have been a butterfly that had his attentions!  Looks like his buddy is trying to figure out exactly what is popping out of that egg!!!  What fun!

I really like how this card came together!

Even though the WHITE SPACE around the edge looked just fine ... 

it bothered me so I grabbed my TH black distress marker and started doodling!

{sigh}  that's better!!!  LOL!!

With my daffodils ALMOST ready to bloom, yellow was the first

Spring color that came to my mind!

Then of course, the pink & purple tulips that are also

planted in my front flower beds are starting to make their way through the mulch also.

So, that gave me the color palette I wanted to use on today's card.

This beautiful 'Spring Bouquet Cup' is by Pamela Lehto.

I've used Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers for my coloring and SU Crystal Effects for the shine.

SCARY STORY!  

I had my card all put together when I decided to add the 'shine'.

On my shelf was a bottle of SU Crystal Effects 

and a bottle of Aleene's Paper Glaze (which had been there for awhile!)

WELL, I decided to use the Aleene's for a change.  Gave it a little shake, then a little squeeze and PLOP out came a very watery, then clumpy pasty MESS!  

OMG ... did I just ruin this entire card???

My bone folder was laying there ... so I quickly began scrapping the ooy-gooy mess

from my card front and praying I wasn't going to have to start all over again!

In front of me was a very large, very WET bouquet cup ... was it ruined??

Oh well ... I went ahead and opened the Crystal Effects and put it on my cup, saucer & tulips figuring that if it didn't dry properly THEN I was start all over again!  

THANK HEAVENS, when it dried it was just fine!  SHEW!!!!  That was a close one!!!

NOTE TO SELF:  Finish the image ENTIRELY before adding to the card front next time!

I fussy cut the image then adhered the bottom flat and popped up the top

portion onto a Spellbinder scallop oval panel.
