Double Vision with a Twist card . . .

 Happy Tuesday Friends . . .

I've been a bit obsessed with creating these Double Vision cards lately and while trying to go to sleep last night I got the bright idea to put a spin on the technique by using 12x12 designer paper and laying out the 1/2" strips at an angle.  So first thing this morning I just HAD TO put my thoughts down on paper and created this card.

Though difficult to see, the blue strips are popped up with dimensional tape.
Here's a photo taken at a bit of an angle ... that might help you see the dimension a bit better.

I have used a VERY OLD 12x12 - double sided sheet of designer paper.
The fact that this paper pattern was a random floral on one side and a generic muted solid color on the other side worked out perfectly for this technique.

I used scraps of both the card stock and the designer paper for my sentiment panel, die cutting with a Tutti Designs scallop rectangle die set.

I simply adhered one of the extra 1/2" strips to the inside panel to help bring it all together.  And with that size designer paper, I have plenty left over if I want to decorate the envelope flap also.  In fact . . .

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!!

Trying new techniques . . .

 Happy Monday Everyone!

It's going to be a VERY HOT week here in Ohio so I'll be spending a lot of time in my crafting cave.  Over the weekend I was once again playing with that new (to me) technique called Double Vision (there are several videos over on You Tube).

Here are a few I made the other day . . .

(Beware ... they are addicting to make lol)

Then I spotted this video   https://www.facebook.com/reel/27314627054885545

She combined the Black Out technique with the Double Vision technique and came up with a card like this.  You'll see in the video hers is much better than mine as I was in a hurry and didn't take as much time with my coloring as I should have.  Still turned out to be a pretty card ... thoughts?

Unique huh?

Ok, I spotted another technique I want to try today before time to go to the gym and get my walk in.  Hope you've enjoyed today's share and will give these technique's a try.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!!

Can You Handle the Pressure - Twist - Purple

Hello Friends, thanks for stopping by today!

We have a new challenge starting today over on our new Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge Blog and the TWIST theme is ...

Purple

Remember, the twist is optional but you MUST use an embossing folder on your projects to qualify for the prize.  Heat embossing is also permitted but only in conjunction with an embossing folder.

Here's what I've created to inspire you today ...

Purple ... my all time favorite color!

Today I've used two different embossing folders.  For the background Mintay 'Lilac Garden' panel I've used  a Sizzix Tim Holtz tree bark folder and for the focus panel I've used the Cuttlebug 'swirls' folder.  The lilac basket is an image from the back cover of the Mintay 'Lilac Garden' paper pack.  The other elements are from a 'Paper Studio ' sticker pack.

I do hope you'll come check out our challenge blog and play along.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!!

Double Vision Technique

 Happy Friday All . . .

Today I'm sharing a few cards using a (new to me) technique that is fun & (I think) impressive.  That technique is called 'Double Vision' (also known by a few other names).  I shared a card earlier in the week, seen here, using this same technique but with a 2-sided paper that was totally different one side from the other.

 What do you think?

This technique is addictive LOL so you might be seeing more along the way!

As always ... thanks for stopping by!
Wishing you a FABULOUS weekend ahead!

Purple and Green

 Hello Friends . . .

I don't have many DT cards to share this week so I thought I'd take the opportunity to play along in a few challenges I spotted over on Paper Playful.

Today I'm starting out with a color challenge that just happens to be one of my favorites.  Of course, if you know me at all, you know that anything along with PURPLE works for me lol.  Here's the color combo for the new challenge over on  the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge Blog (ends 7/6).

I started out making just one card but then spotted another old stamp that I thought would make a nice card and ended up with two cards.  I hope you like them.

My base card and matting card stocks are Blackberry Bliss and Garden Green (sorry it's hard to see in the photo ... bad time of day for the photo I guess) then I used Gorgeous Grape for the coloring on the flower & butterfly as well as Garden Green smearing for the background.  Garden Green was once again used to stamp my sentiment.

The stamp is Inkadinkado and the sentiment is Simon Says.

Other challenges to share in:

Girlz Rebel Challenge #53 - Butterflies (ends 7/8)
Try It On Tuesday - In the Garden (ends 7/8)
Passion for Markers - Add Flowers (ends 6/30)

  My second card . . .

Flower stamp is Penny Black, sentiment is Simon Says and inks/card stocks are SU.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day ahead!!

Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

 Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

The wood block stamp I've used today is probably one of the earliest stamps I purchased at a local craft store called Pat Catan's (no longer exists unfortunately bought out by Michaels).  I'm sure it was in the $1 bin and is by Anita's which was a Sugarloaf Inc. company out of GA.

I used a scrap panel of 'water' designer paper from the Amy Designs 'underwater' paper pad for the background and after stamping this cute guy twice I used Tombow markers for my coloring.  Scrapbook.com Typewriter Alphabet dies for the sentiment.

Challenges to share in:

Pearly Sparkles Challenge #120 - This Makes Me Smile (ends 6/30)
Send a Smile 4 Kids June Challenge - Summer Fun Cards 4 Kids (ends 7/3)  Chosen to be upcoming Guest Designer

Why not pop over and check out her blog and play along ... you know you have wood block stamps that need some love just like I do!  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day ahead!!

Strawberry time of year . . .

Hello friends ... welcome back to my blog!

Here in Ohio & Western Pennsylvania, June is Strawberry Season!
And OMG are they delicious!!!  My mouth is watering just thinking about them ... lol.
So with that being said, you can imagine how much fun today's card was to create!

My design layout today comes from the sketch offered over on the Sunday Stamps Blog  - SSC388 Layered Up - ends 06/26. Top Cup Winner

I'm also entering this card into the challenges at:

Inspiration Station June Challenge #86 - photo inspiration (ends 07/04) TOP PICK

Farm Quest Grocery Game #30 - ATG with Food and/or Drink (ends 07/15)

The paper pad used today is an old pad which only had a few pages left but luckily just enough for this card design.  I've had this pad for so long I can't even remember where I got it and there's no 'company' name on it ... but is titled 'Cherries The Cutest' .  Oh wait, there was a number on the back and when I did a search on that number it comes up on the Inloveartsshop.com site.

24PCS 6" Cherries the Cuffest Scrapbook & Cardstock Paper

The sentiment is a stamp & die set from Pink Fresh called 'Perfect Sentiments'

I had to cut a strip off the background sheet to fit my A6 card size and at the last minute I decided to fussy cut the strawberry that were available on that panel and use them on the top panel of my card.  I'm quite happy with the outcome ... what do you think?  I popped up a couple and left the others flat.

 I hope you've enjoyed today's card share!

Have a WONDERFUL day and please stop back again tomorrow!

  As always . . .

Fun Color Combo

 Happy Monday All!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend ... a bit windy here but nice just the same!

Today I thought I'd play along in the fun color challenge over on the Color Hues Challenge Blog  ✓ where the theme is Yellow & Black.  This fun challenge ends on June 29th so plenty of time to still play along!

Of course my first thought with this color combo was BEES and I just happened to have a fun paper pad by Echo Park Paper Co. called BEE HAPPY that worked perfectly.  Here's what I created . . .

Though a bit difficult to see, I've done a spin on the DOUBLE VISION technique for the background.  The papers in this 6x6 pad are double sided so instead of keeping it all one pattern I flipped every other 1/2" strip popped them up.

Echo Park Bee Happy 6 x 6 Paper Pad bh319023

The sentiment is also from this paper pad ... I simply matted it with black cardstock to make it stand out a bit more.  That cute little extra bee is from a stamp and die set by Hero Arts (sadly no longer available).   I popped him up with a dimensional square also.

A few more fun challenges:

Allsorts Challenge #852 where the theme is Bees, Blooms and/or Birds (ends 7/3)

Cupcake Inspiration #638 - Anything Goes w/cupcake inspiration (ends 7/10)

I have an afternoon dentist appointment so I'd better quite playing around
and get things cleaned up in here!

As always ... thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you a FABULOUS week ahead!

Peace on Earth Challenge #114

Hello Friends and welcome back to my blog!

SO happy you stopped by!

Today I have a card to share for the new challenge over on the PEACE ON EARTH CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE BLOG.  Of course the theme is Anything Christmas and we hope you'll come join in the fun!

Here's a fun inspiration board we've created to help get you started ...

Inspired by the cardinals in the upper left corner, here's what I've created for today's challenge.

This background paper I found at Hobby Lobby and the stamp is a set by Northwood called 'Snowy Cardinal Birdhouse & Snowy Chickadee Birdhouse'.   I've used Tutti Designs 'Stitched Scallop Rectangle' dies on both the image and sentiment panels. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado and coloring was done with Tombow markers.

Snowy Cardinal Birdhouse & Snowy Chickadee Birdhouse: NO-117

PLEASE be sure to pop over to THE BLOG and check out the amazing designs our design team has created for your inspiration.  What a group of talented ladies!!  Then come join in the fun!!

Pick 3 Challenge Time #6

  Hello friends!

It's time again for a fun new challenge over on the Pick 3 Challenge Blog.

Here's this months Elements Board . . .

 Here's what I've created  . . .

The elements I've chosen today are:

Yellow - Ink Blending - Frame

I knew I wanted to use the color Yellow (since it's a color I love but rarely use) so I grabbed the 3 different yellow TH Distress Oxide inks I have and ink blended a white panel.  Then I spritzed with water for a little added texture.

I knew right away I wanted to use the Paper Rose 'Stitched Rectangle Frame' (#16679) die set (one of my all time favorites) then reached for one of the larger pieces of scrap designer paper that I thought might work and die cut it using the largest die.

Now, what to use as a focus image?  I went to my drawer of Hearty Crafts 3D Toppers and spotted this beauty in the 'Birdhouses in Winter' (HC13434) pack.  There were actually 3 toppers with these yellow & blue birds that would have worked but decided to put this one.  Put it together (using 3D tape between layers) and adhered it inside the frame.

I went to my various sets of sentiments and found I had both a blue & a yellow cut from the Pink Fresh 'Perfect Sentiments' stamp & die set.  The yellow blended too much with the background so went with the blue.  When I have sets like this I like to do them in various colors, die cut them and put them in little bags so they are ready to go when I am!

This is such a fun challenge to create for!
Half the work is already done for you once you choose your 3 elements!

Points to Remember:
