Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

The wood block stamps I've used today are Stampa Rosa 'Robins in Trees' (circa 1998) and Penny Black 'to say hi' (circa 2006).

I stamped the image onto white card stock twice and colored only one of the images.  Then I die cut a circle from the colored image using a Tutti Designs circle die and popped it up over top the black/white stamped image.

The decorative faux stitching was done with a ruler & a fine time black marker.
Coloring was done with Tombow markers (not sure why the pine looks blue ... it was a green marker!! ?? )

Why not pop over and check out her blog and play along ... you know you have wood block stamps that need some love just like I do!  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day ahead!!

Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

Hello Friends

The wood block stamp I've used today is an old Stampabilities (circa 2010).

After stamping my image, I colored the butterflies using Tombow markers then die cut using the largest die in the Tutti Designs 'Stitched Scallop Rectangle' die set.  The background is from the Brutus Monroe 'Butteflies' 6x6 paper pack and a few extra butterflies were punched out using a VERY old Martha Stewart punch.

Here's what I've created . . .

The wood block stamp I've used today is an old Northwood stamp, circa 2006 and I've used Stampin' Up 'Garden Green' ink for the stamping.  I've added these cute Poppy Stamps deer fawns and a sentiment  stamp from my 'Doni Collection'.

The wood block stamps I've used today is by Stacey Studios.  She is a local artist who had a small line of stamps several years ago.  I haven't used it in a very long time so today I actually created THREE different style cards with this one stamp.

Card #1 of 3

This was my first design idea using this single zinnia stamp.  Simply stamped for the background then one focus flower for the center.  Only coloring was the flower centers and the leaf on the focus flower.

Card #2 of 3

I decided to add color to the flowers using my Tombow markers.  I used the marker alone for the focus flower and then used it along with water to create a watercolor for the background flowers.

Card #3 of 3

Lastly, I created a card using the stamp to create a border for my sentiment.  I've used a GOLD pilot marker to create the 'faux matting' around the background panel then used GOLD glossy paper (though difficult to see in the photo) for the sentiment backing.

It's truly amazing what you can create with one little stamp!!!

Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

The wood block stamps I've used today are 'Friends Forever' by Art Gone Wind and my sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts and called 'Time to Enjoy'.

The background paper I've used for today's card is from a Mintay 6x6 paper pack called 'Lovely Day'.  I've used Tombow markers to color these lovely ladies and Tutti Designs 'Scallop Stitched Rectangle' dies for the matting.  A few old Prima flowers with Nuvo Crystal Drop centers were added as an embellishment.

True Friends . . .

Hello Friends

Fall is upon us but we all know it won't be long before the 'white stuff' is flying, and since I enjoy making Fall themed cards (love those colors) I wanted to play along in a few challenge I spotted over on Paper Playful.  So here we go . . .

I noticed a few very old wood block stamps in my stash and that's where this all started!  First is the Inkadinkado swirly stamp which I've used to create my background and my sentiment stamp is by stampingsensations.com (also very old & no longer in business).  I've had both of these stamps in my stash for YEARS.

I have used 3 Tim Holtz distress oxide inks on my swirly stamp to stamp & create my background panel.  I then ran it through a Fall Leaves embossing folder.  After cutting my base card, I used the scraps and cut a few narrow strips to use for my design.  A Tutti Designs Scallop Stitched Rectangle die was used to die cut my sentiment panel.  Using a few other scraps, I die cut a few maple leaves to coordinate with the background embossing.

VIOLA!

Here's a closer image of the embossing in case you can't see it in the above photo . . .

I'm very pleased with the outcome and hope you like it too!

Challenges I'd like to share in:

Just Us Girls #797 - Mood Board (ends 10/22)

Hand Stamped Sentiments #474 - Photo Inspiration (10/28)

 Hello Friends

The wood block stamps I've used today are (old) SU 'Posy' background stamp and another oldie but goodie Hero Arts 'Thanks Phrase' stamp (circa 2007).

I've used Tutti Designs 'Scallop Stitched Rectangle' dies to mat my sentiment stamp and Hot Pink Nuvo Crystals drops for an accent.  Tombow markers were used for the coloring.

Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

I've only used ONE wood block stamp today and stamp is an old SU stamp that believe it or not, I've never inked up until today.  Some how this got buried under other wood blog stamps and forgotten about.  Talk about NEGLECTED!  Geesh!!

Anyways, I stamped it twice ... colored with Tombow markers then fussy cut the focus flower from the second stamping and popped it up over the original card panel image.

Nuvo Crystal drops were used for an accent and I've used a sentiment stamp & die set from The Ton for my sentiment.  Unfortunately, these days, I can't seem to keep enough sympathy stamps on hand!

The wood block stamps I've used today are old Stampin' Up stamps.
Crosshatch Background Stamp and the Close As A Memory stamp set.

I've used old SU Wild Wasabi card stock for my base card and coordinating ink for my image & sentiment accents.  A Tutti Designs ' Stitched Scallop Oval' die was used for the focus panel and Sue Wilson 'Stitched Flags' for the sentiment panel.  Nuvo Crystal drops were used as an accent and the sentiment flag was popped up with dimensional tape.

The wood block stamps I've used today are an old Stampin' Up called 'Morning Soft' and the sentiment which is from The Stamp Pad Company.  Both stamps are very old but still make the prettiest cards ... that's why I actually have TWO cards to share with you today.

Originally I had stamped this Morning Glory image onto my card panel with every intention of doing some overlay paper piecing.  But, once I had my 2nd panel colored & fussy cut (card #2), I just had to use the entire thing for another card . . . a TWO for ONE card day.  LOL

The background paper is from a 'Rainbow Plaid' paper pack from Scrapbook.com.  The polka dot panels on both cards are the cut off scraps from the reverse side of my background panel.

Tombow markers were used for the coloring and the oval is a die set by Tutti Designs.
