Joan's Gardens & Delicious Doodles & MY YELLOW KITCHEN

Happy Friday Everyone!
I have two challenge cards to share with you today!

First is my card for Challenge #7 at Joan's Gardens.  This week's requirements are:

• Use designer paper for your background  (I used Webster's Pages - Postcards from Paris)
• Use no other stamping except for a sentiment and frame (such as a JustRite Stamp) (I stamped using an Impression Obsession stamp and framed using Spellbinder Lacy Squares)
• Use all the embellishments you would like to use (Prima flowers & MS front punch)
• Use some kind of dimension on the card (such as a flower)  (Martha Stewart Lacy Butterflies)

I needed a sympathy card for a friend who unexpectedly lost her MIL last week so I used Joan's challenge as the bases for my creation.

A couple of other challenges that this card fits are:
Creative Cottage - Just Words
Top Tip Tuesday - Frame It

* * * * *
My second creation today is for the Delicious Doodles Challenge - Valentine's Day - Love Theme.  I have used not ONE but TWO of Teri's (Delicious Doodles Owner/Artist) images for today's creation and I just LOVE how it came together ... easy & I think impressive!!

A few other challenges this card fits are:
Paper Pretties - inspired by Valentine's Day

 * * * * *
NOW ... would you like to see a couple photos of my newly painted kitchen??  I decided I wanted a BRIGHT - CHEERFUL color so I went with DAFFODIL YELLOW!  YEP ... it's definitely bright & cheerful ... and I love it!
This photo was taken with me standing in the livingroom looking into the kitchen and down the 'yellow' hallway towards the door that goes out to the garage. Please ignore the papers on the table ... I "JUST" now ran upstairs and took these photos so I could share them with you in this post.

And this photo was taken standing in the corner of my kitchen ... looking into the livingroom.
I don't have the blinds back up over the sliding glass door so it was probably TOO BRIGHT to take this photo (kind of washes out the color) but as you can see ... it is YELLOW and BEAUTIFUL!!

Now I need to go shopping for some NEW yellow accessories and of course need to make a NEW YELLOW FLORAL DESIGN for on the island counter.  The RED is only for Valentine's Day ... not my usual everyday color scheme.   Isn't redecorating FUN!!!

Thanks for taking a peek & remember ...
if you are EVER in the AKRON, OHIO area ... you MUST STOP BY!!

Hugs to you all,
Darlene

Delicious Doodles Challenge

Happy Friday!

Before I move onto today's challenge/creation ... I would like to put a special thanks out to all my new 'followers' who have come to my blog via Feline Playful.  I appreciate you following my blog and I hope you find inspiration from my work!  Thanks also the the ladies over at Feline Playful for all the work they put into providing us with the daily lists of challenges and now this fabulous idea of 'Give a Comment, Receive a Comment'.  If you don't know what I'm talking about ... you need to pop RIGHT OVER!!  Now onto today's challenge creation.

Are you ready for another

Today we are concentrating on
NEW!
Try something new, or use something new on your projects.

After much thought, I decided to try a NEW FOLD TECHNIQUE for my DT creation in today's challenge.  My choice of fold is the JOY FOLD.

 (My JOY FOLD card 'closed')

I found my inspiration and instruction over on Shelly's Images website.  She supplied very easy easy to follow directions and there's a few other tutorials available on her site also.  Do check them out.
The Delicious Doodles digi image I used today is called "Bark at the Moon" ...  Isn't it cool!!  I simply used chalk and a make-up applicator to do the 'hint' of coloring on the image.  Other than the BASE card, I've used scraps that were laying on my worktable for this creation!  (trying to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak! there's such a mountain of scraps after the holidays! LOL)

( My JOY FOLD card 'opened')

Now it's your turn.  We would love to have you join us in this challenge and I'm sure Santa brought you all types of NEW toys that you're just 'compin' at the bit' to use!  Here's your chance!!

This challenge runs until next Friday, January 14th and YOU could win some of these amazing digis from Delicious Doodles!

Other challenges this card qualifies for are:

Woodware USA - Something NEW (technique)
Creative Cottage - Something NEW
Paper Sundaes - Something NEW

Kids Card Kits

A short while ago, during a 'card class' ... one of my cousins asked if I made 'card kits for kids'!  Hmmm ... I hadn't thought of that but told her I'd be willing to make some up for her grandkids and here they are.
 (finished product - 5 different cards - 5 categories)

My first attempt is for the "Age 4 - 8" kids.  I've used digi images from Delicious Doodles for this set.  Teri has some adorable images and they'll be great for the kids to color.

Each set includes FIVE different cards, individually packaged in card sleeves with all pieces needed for that particular card and a printout is included at the back of the pack, showing what the finished cards look like.

In this set, the categories are: Birthday, Thanks, Be Happy, Christmas and Just for You.  Some cards also have an image on the inside that can be colored. (ie. the bee)

These were super fun to make and I hope the kids enjoy them!  It did take me longer than I thought it would ... I think I'll get faster when I make the next THREE sets for GIRLS age 10-13.

Here are the other two cards in this set!

Hopefully I've inspired you to give this a try for the 'little ones' in your family!  You can find these five images and many, many more at the Delicious Doodles StoreAND a reminder that the Delicious Doodles DT will be having a BLOG HOP next Friday (Nov. 19th) to kick off the new Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  You don't want to miss it ... there will be freebies everywhere!!!  Jump over to our challenge blog for all the information!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Delicious Doodles Creations

Hello All ...
First a couple of updates for you . . .
Hubby is home again today after having ANOTHER kidney scope done on Wednesday.  He's still a bit uncomfortable & has some pain but I think is more ANNOYED than anything else!!  Waiting for results is sometimes more difficult than the testing!!
Daughter's friend Maria is really having a difficult time.  She's in a LOT of pain and they've done yet another MRI and hoping the outcome is better than anticipated.  I will keep you up to date on any changes but things sure don't look good.  If you'd like to send well wishes to Maria, please see my posting for information HERE.

NOW ... onto some Delicious Doodles fun!  I have two creations to share with you today using a couple of Teri's 'floral' images.  First is one of her newest images called 'Grass Silhouette' . . . you can find it HERE.  I enlarged this awesome image to make it cover the largest part of my A-6 card front.  I then added a Bahama Breeze cardstock matting onto a black card.  The faux stitching was done with a fine tip Prismacolor marker and Prisma flowers with Stampendous diamond dot centers were added for dimension.  How lucky was I to find this last piece of Offray satin ribbon that matched the cardstock perfectly!  The sentiment comes from a SU sympathy set.

Secondly is a card using Teri's beautifully drawn 'Gladioli' image ... found HERE.  You can color this image ANY color and create a variety of gorgeous cards in no time at all!  I actually was using up scraps in the making of this card and LOVE the end result!  So many of Teri's beautiful images can 'STAND ON THEIR OWN' and don't require a lot of fuss ... how great is that!!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Yesterday was a fun day for me!  Yes, I was able to spend the entire day crafting with my friend Terri and daughter, Carolyn.  We all were in desperate need of some "ME TIME" so we took the day TOGETHER and actually got a lot accomplished!  Sure felt good!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
Hugs,
Darlene

A Gift Card Holder TUTORIAL

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I'd like to share with you a "Gift Card Holder" which is very easy and can be created for ANY occasion!  The basis for these gift card holders came from a posting I saw in the September 2010 CardMaker magazine (pg. 75) by Rhonda Visser Johnston.  I have however made a few changes to "make it my own"!  The size is different and I've reversed which side you enter your gift card.

Here is a look at the END result using 1 sheet of 12x12 card stock and various designer papers ... I've used the DCWV Wintertime Matstack.  You can decorate these holders however you'd like ... depending on the occasion you are celebrating!  Here I've used digi images from Delicious Doodles on TWO holders and K&Co. chipboard images on the THIRD.

Here are the steps you'll need to take:

1.  For the base card holder, use ONE 12x12 sheet of cardstock and cut it into THREE 4"  strips.
 2.  Score each 4"  x 12" strip at 5" and 10" and fold on score lines to create the cover & card pocket.

3.  I like to border the edge of the card pocket using a Gold Pilot marker in order to define where the edge of the card pocket starts.

4. The finished card holder measure 4" x 5" when closed, so they fit perfectly into an A-2 sized envelope.

5.  As you can see, you can also add a sentiment to the inside cover if you'd like ... or leave blank for a hand written message to the recipient.

So, there you have it ... like I said, very easy to create and I hope you give them a try!!  I'm working on SEVERAL for an upcoming craft show!  Here's a close up of the other two holders in this set.

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today!  I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and if you make some of these fun holders, please post back here with a link ... I'd LOVE to come see your creations and leave you some love!!
Enjoy your weekend!!!
Hugs,
Darlene
