Butterflies in Flight

Hello my friends!
It appears I'm in a 'butterfly' mood this week!
This is my second card for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog
this week and it just dawned on me that
they both had butterflies!
I guess now that winter has hit ... I'm ready for spring!

Dies used today from the Dies R Us Store are:

What I did to create this card was to first die cut the Fairyland Butterflies from a heavier (110#) card stock and use that cut as my stencil.  Using various Tim Holtz distress blue inks, I created my 'ombre' background.  Then overlaid my butterfly panel just a little off center to create a shadow affect.

From earlier creations I had the center cuts from the CLD Celtic Fire Rectangle Frame which I cut in half and adhered as yet another 'layer'.  The hearts were also laying on my work table from a previous creation and I thought I still needed a little 'something' and they worked perfectly!  A little faux stitching and VIOLA!

OH!  One more thing ...

By coloring a scrap piece of white card stock with the same
colors as the front of my card and die cutting the lovely
Wild Rose Studio 'Birthday' die,
NOW my card is totally complete and beautiful inside & out!

Challenges to share in:
City Crafter Challenge - Butterfly, my butterfly
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Ombre
The Crafty Addicts - ATG - Celebration (birthday)

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and don't forget to come join in the fun challenges at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.
YOU could be our next prize winner!!

As always . . .

Sisterhood Challenge - Something Old, Something New

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the 1st Sisterhood challenge of the new year!
Today LisaB is our hostess and she's ask us to use 'Something Old and Something New' ... what fun!

This was an easy challenge for me since I've been going crazy lately and have several NEW items and of course I have a crafting cave filled with OLD stuff.  I need to start using more of the OLD (that I've forgotten about) and quit buying so much NEW ... at least for a little while maybe!  LOL!

While creating today's card I was actually able to utilize a few items that have been laying on my work table.  I always seem to have a lot of 'bits and pieces' laying around that either I've die cut, colored or whatever ... for other projects, but then switched gears and went a different direction.

Those particular items today are the Frantic Stamper 'Silhouette Kids' (FRA-DIE-09696) and the colorful panel I created several months ago using Ken Oliver Color Bursts.  I've die cut the kids twice to have a 'shadow' affect and even thought the sentiments are two different dies they work perfectly together.

To be specific, my OLD is the BoBunny design paper and my NEW are the dies.
(Well, a couple of them anyways, lol)

I hope you'll come join in on the fun!
We'd love to see what new crafting goodies Santa brought you
(or maybe you got in on some fabulous sales over the holiday!)

Challenges to share in:

Vintage Let It Snow . . .

Happy Monday All!
Well, it appears 'old man winter' has finally
come to visit us here in N.E. Ohio!
Yep ... it's snowing & blowing and there's more to come.

So what better way to spend a snowy Monday
then to craft and make something pretty!

Every time I see a shaker card online I sigh
because they look so fabulous and I NEVER think
to make them myself.  Well ... today's the day!!

In fact, the challenge at the Memory Box blog is to make a shaker card
and I have used the Memory Box Shaker Square Frames (#30030)
and Square Layers (#30021) for today's shaker card.

When I saw that the challenge on the Poppystamps blog was
'Sparkly Snow', I knew these two would work
together perfectly.
How adorable is this sweet vintage image that
I found online.  And of course the Poppystamps 'stacked
mittens' (#1267) was the ideal embellishments.

A few additional challenges to share in:
Alphabet Challenge - W for Window
DRS Designs Challenge - The Weather Outside
Morgan's ArtWorld Challenge - Anything Goes
Julia Spiri Challenge - ATG/Monotone

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

The Robyn's Fetish Challenge #298 -"SQUARE CARDS" - 01/10/2016

Happy Sunday Dear Friends!
it's time for a new, fun challenge at Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog!

As you can see by my title, this week's challenge is
  SQUARE CARDS
Our sponsor today is The East Wind!

One lucky winner will receive 3 digital stamps of their choice from The East Wind Store!
Today I've created a 5 1/2" square card using a lovely digi image called 'Aurora Vine'.
I'm not sure why Aurora is looking so sad!
Maybe she needs a handsome gentleman to give her a little push of the swing on this beautiful day.

I had several 'off cuts' laying on the worktable ... left over from holiday cards.  And thought one would work perfectly to 'picture frame'  Aurora swinging out in the beautiful blue skies.  I simply used a scrap white panel which I sponged with Tim Holtz blue & pink distressed inks to create my background sky.  A bit of foam tape between the two panels and my 'picture frame' was complete.

Inside View
I also had a few left over butterflies laying around which worked perfectly with my Prima design paper.  They were created from a scrap of colorful Ken Oliver 'color burst' paper I had been playing with several months ago.  I also thought you might like a peek at the inside of my card.

Challenges to share in:

Dies R Us - Thinking of You

Hello Friends ... another weekend is before us!
I have a card to share today that was created for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.
Did you know there is a NEW inspirational sample card posted each week day from our talented design team?  Yep ... trying to help inspire you to give die cuts a try and trust me, once you do you will LOVE working with them.  Be sure to pop over to the Dies R Us Store to see ALL the fabulous dies available by a wide range of companies!

Right before the holidays I ordered a couple fabulous heart dies from the store provided by the Frantic Stamper Inc. company. The die used on the front of my card is called 'Heartfall' and measures 5" x 3.75".  The inside border heart die is called 'Reverse Random Hearts Border Vertical'.  Perfect addition to the inside of my card.  I've also used the Cheery Lynn Designs 'Lace Corner Deco E' to accent this sweet vintage image from Pion Design - From Grandma's Attic - Friendship.
I've distressed the edges of my image along with the pink mat panel for a more vintage feel.
Inside View
A few little pink flowers with gold Stickle centers and a sentiment is all that was needed to complete today's creation.  I haven't decided yet if I want to add a sentiment to the inside or just leave it blank for a personal note.  Time will tell!  LOL!

because I kept adding to it once I
say the photograph!  Uugh!

image and here I've used an image from the Crafty Secrets
Christmas Images & Journal Notes Booklet.

The Cheery Lynn Designs dies I have used are the
Celtic Fire Rectangle Frame (DL125) and the
Laced Pine Snowflake (DL175).

and some white liquid 'pearls' was all that
was required to finish this pretty creation.

Challenge Debut for 'Double "D" Challenges'

Hello Everyone!
Today is an exciting day for me!  It's the debut of challenges being offered by my friend DIANE and I at our new DOUBLE 'D' Challenge Blog.  We hope you'll come join in the fun!

Team DIANE is hosting today and here's the theme:

  Forget Me Not
(Flowers and BLUE)

Each challenge (1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month) will offer a Tile Board for your inspiration.  It's so much fun to see the different creations crafters come up with using the exact same board!

Even though TEAM DIANE is the host for the early month challenges, we decided that the design team (and ourselves) are more than welcome to partake in ANY of the challenges.  There's nothing worse (for me at least) than seeing a Tile Board that CALLS OUT TO ME and I can't play along!  SO, we remedied that issue!  Be prepared to see at least Diane & Myself playing along even when we're not required to!  LOL

Here's what I came up with today.
My Mom's birthday is January 27th ... she'll be 86 years old (God Bless Her!) and
I thought she'd like all the pretty blue flowers so decided to 'personalize' it for her.

My background image and focus image came from the internet.
A few die cuts and flowers ... VIOLA!  Mom's card is complete (now to remember to mail it! LOL)

Thanks for stopping by today and please come check out our new, fun DOUBLE 'D' CHALLENGES!
OH and did I mention there would be PRIZES OFFERED?
No sponsorship ... just Diane & I sharing our love for the crafting arts!

Dies R Us - Happy 25th

Hello Friends!
Today I have a card to share that was created for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.

I've had a request for a 25th Anniversary card so I decided to create two cards for this lady to choose from.  One card uses the 'negative' portion of my Heidi Swapp '25' die cut and the other card utilizes the 'positive' portion.  I think both turned out pretty and I like that I can give my friend a choice while using up what would normally have been a scrap piece from the die cut.

Using the negative ...

Other dies used on this card are:

My base card is white ... next panel is black but I cut the center out of the black panel so that my numbers would show up as white on the silver panel.  The vines are a part of the Cheery Lynn Designs doily frame die and I simply sponged a little Memento 'bamboo leaves' green ink onto the leaves.  The flowers were also cut from my silver metallic card stock ... assembled and a gem added to the centers.

Using the positive ...

I've created this 2nd card using the numbers 25 that were die cut from the panel you see on Card 1.  I used the same Sue Wilson Finishing Touches 'Delicate Daisies - Open Petals  flowers but die cut my leaves from the Sue Wilson 'Laurel Leaves' die set (CED1437).  I cut the exact same size flowers as I used on my first card but stacked them all together to make one flower vs two separate flowers.

SO MUCH versatility with die cuts ... you gotta love that!
TIP:  You can also use the negative portion of your die cut panel as a stencil.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek at today's creations.
Remember there is still time to join in the current challenge at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  The theme is 'Something NEW'.  Be sure to pop over to see what the fabulous design team has created ... so talented!  WOW!

Do You Have the Winter Blues?

Hello Friends!
Welcome to the first full week of 2016!

We've been rather spoiled here in N.E. Ohio with such warm temperatures for this time of year ... but it has caught up with us and it's been bitter cold/windy since the New Year began!
Uugh ... already I'm tired of the cold and ready for spring time weather!
(Must be this 'getting older' thing!  LOL!)

So, today I decided to play along in the "Winter Blues" challenge at Classy Cards n Such.
Here's a peek at their inspiration tile board .

I think that is just the coolest tile board and of course the BIRDS are what caught my eye.
Here's what I came up with . . .

Inside View

In doing this challenge I discovered I don't have much in the way of blue & white design papers
(note to self ... must purchase more blue/white paper ... OMG like I need MORE paper, LOL)

Anyways, I spotted this beautiful image and paper in the Graphic45 'Botanical Tea' 8x8 paper pack and it worked perfectly.  Creating this card actually helped to alleviate the winter blues I have today.  The end of Christmas holidays is always a bit of a downer ... I love all the lights, decorations, fun friendly gatherings ... now it's back to the old hum-drum!  Oh well, if 2016 goes as quickly as 2015, we'll be back in the holiday spirit in no time at all!

A few other challenges to share in:
Dragonfly Journeys Challenge - They Say it's your Birthday
Eclectic Ellapu December Challenge - Purple Team - One die or more

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today!
Hope you have a FABULOUS week ahead!

The Robyn's Fetish Challenge #297 -"ANYTHING GOES" - 01/03/2016

Happy New Year's Weekend Everyone!
It's a new year and time for a new, fun challenge at Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog!

ANYTHING GOES

The lucky winner of today's challenge will receive their choice of 3 Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps from the ROBYN'S FETISH DIGITAL STAMPS AND MORE STORE!   So, you'll want to be sure and join in the fun!!

Today I had fun creation with the adorable image called 'Polar Bear Dad' ... how cute is he!
It seems he's a little late with his holiday caroling, lol!
Or maybe he's just practicing for next year!

If you are anything like me, you still have some pieces & parts laying on your work table from making holiday creations and want to use them creativity NOW if at all possible.
I've had this 'window scene' laying on the table for weeks ... and I thought it would work perfectly with our adorable Polar Bear Dad.  Hope you like it!

Here's a closer view of the window/dressing.

I just love the Martha Stewart Branch Punch for making window dressings like this one.
BUT I WAS IN A PANIC when creating this card!
My punch (Old & Well Used) BROKE!
Yep, metal pieces came falling out!
OH NO!  What to do???
I quickly ran upstairs to dear hubby who immediately went onto Amazon.com ... found me a new MS punch for $10 (free shipping ... he has a prime account) and ordered it for me.   Whew!  It was here in 2 days (good thing I work ahead, lol).   As I walked out of the room he said "Merry Christmas"  LOL!

I sponged  white ink over the brown brick wall embossed panel for extra texture and a touch of Diamond Stickles gives the illusion of snow/ice on the top of the window.

By simply tearing a scrap panel of white card stock, I created the snow Polar Bear Dad is standing in.

Challenges to share in:

Dies R Us - Let It Snow!

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!
It's time for another inspirational creation for the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog.

Is it or has it been snowing at your house?
I know my mid West and North West friends have seen a little (or a lot) of the white stuff so far.  But here in N.E. Ohio it has been unseasonably warm and NO SNOW for Christmas this year.  Of course, with that being said, Lord only knows what the New Year will hold for us in snow amounts!   Either way, now that my holiday traveling is over, I'm saying LET IT SNOW!  LOL!
That's one of the perks of being retired ... you can just sit in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and watch it come down ... can pick & choose when to venture out into the elements! LOL

Dies I have used on today's card are:

After die cutting my Taylored Expressions die of white card stock, I adhered it to a medium blue card stock panel.  THEN I changed my mind on my design idea so fussy cut around the image with my trusty swivel craft knife.  It worked out fine since it helped set the town image off from the white snowbank in the background.  Don't you love it when mistakes turn into great results?

My dark background panel is from a sheet of DCWV 12x12 paper that was left over from a school project I was helping the neighbor girl with before the holidays began.  (Yep trying to do a little 'clean up' while I'm creating!)

A white gelly roll pen was used to make additional snow in the background and the 'town die cut' was popped up with Recollections thick pop dots.  Love the added dimension it gave my wintry scene.

Did you see there's a new challenge beginning today at our Dies R Us Challenge Blog?  The theme is 'SOMETHING NEW'.  We hope you'll come join in the fun and I look forward to seeing your NEW creations!
