Happy New Years Eve!

Are you going out to a party or like us, staying in ... take a nap, waking up just in time to watch the ball drop in Time Square, NY, pop open the Asti, toast to another wonderful year together ... then turn off the lights and go to bed?!  LOL!

The new challenge this week at Cheery Lynn Designs is THANK YOU!

Before I go into the details of my card creation ...

I would like to THANK-YOU for being such wonderful supportive friends through out the past year.  And, I'm looking forward to being inspired and uplifted by each of you again in 2014!

With it SNOWING outside and only in the single digits, I decided to warm things up a bit by using this lovely spring/summertime image from Craft Secrets called Digital - Garden Printables T-21.

 I've used several Cheery Lynn Designs dies for this creation:

• Frame Die - FRM 141 Window A
• Fanciful Flourish Small - B117S
• Flourish Leaf Strip - B178
• Gardenia - B339

 My background paper is by FabScraps 'High Tea' 8x8 pack, the sentiment is Hero Arts 'LL165 - Happy Everything Greetings' and the sentiment panel was die cut using Spellbinder Labels 14.  Touches of Diamond Stickles on the flourishes gave this creation some beautiful sparkle!  

I like how the diamond Stickles comes out GOLD on the red design paper and yet stays sparkly diamond clear on the white paper!

I've had the Gardenia flower strip die for some time now but this is the first time I've taken the time to play around and make the flower.  So when it came time today, I was having a bit of trouble and was getting frustrated because I wasn't sure what the heck I was doing!!  I was Instant Messaging with my friend Diane (Nellie's Nest) and complained to her about it and she said "Go over to the CLD site and check out the video on it!"  

So, I went over and clicked on the video which was hosted by Christine Sawvell and it was a fabulous step by step and in no time I had this flower created and ready for my card!

DUH!  Why didn't I think of that??  LOL!  Thanks Diane!

Another Tri Shutter Winter Scene

Afternoon All!

As promised, I'm back with another Tri Shutter creation for the Craft A Scene Challenge and this time I've used a 12x12 sheet of card stock for my base.

The measurements on this card are 5 1/2 x 12" (that way you get two cards out of one sheet of 12x12 card stock).  SCORE at 2", 4", 8", 10" ... and again,

CUT SLITS 1-1/2" from each side between the end scores.

 I once again chose to use ONE panel to create my scene on.

Then, adhere to card base ... rescore ... recut ... fold.

The stamps I used on this card are:

Inkadinkado #99417 (snowy cabin)

Memory Box #F1900 (Snowy Pine Landscape)

Stampscapes (geese)

Verses Rubber Stamps #FS0109-E (Time & Distance Sentiment)

I folded the center panel OPPOSITE from the card in my last post ... 

just to show it can be done either way.

Crafting a Scene ...

GOOD Morning Blog Friends!

WOW!  Can you believe we are in the last few days of 2013!!  

I'd like to wish everyone a very joyful, happy, healthy & prosperous 2014!!

Back in early December I played along in the Craft A Scene challenge which is 

Winter Scene (option: Tri Shutter Fold).  Since I was rushed for time, I simply entered a winter scene A-6 card.  Today, I'd like to play along again but this time I've made my card an A2 Tri Shutter fold creation.

I really love this fold and actually this is the first time I've created a Tri Shutter card and NOT cut EACH individual decorative panel.  Instead, I've cut a full panel that is a little smaller then the card base.  Next, I created my scene ... adhered it to the base card and rescored/cut.  Viola!  The SAME but a little DIFFERENT!

Here are the measurements for this A2 size Tri Shutter card:
(which turns out to be a little smaller than the A2 [5 1/2"x3 1/2"])
 I will share a true A2 (5 1/2" x 4 1/4")Tri Shutter card with you later in the day.

CUT your base card 5 1/2" x 10 1/2"

SCORE at 1 3/4", 3 1/2", 7" and 8 3/4"

CUT SLITS 1-1/2" from each side between the end scores.

For my 'scene' panel, I've cut the medium blue paper 5 1/4" x 10 1/4".

First I stamped my Inkadinado snowflakes using white craft ink ... let dry ... then created my wintery scene using:

 Stampscapes

Cabin with Fence - 144F

Pin Row - 150E

Rocky Peaks - 188F

The sentiment used is from the SU 'Home for Christmas' stamp set and reads:

Though far and wide

on earth we roam,

at Christmastime

our hearts come home.

I thought this was such an appropriate sentiment for this log cabin in the woods scene.

The deer on the left is a die by Cottage Cutz - Winter Wonderland Deer

The deer on the right is a die by Impression Obession - DIE 117C

I added a little color to the trees and the cabin with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

There are FOUR more days left on the challenge ... why not give it a try!

Catching Up with 'Besties'

Happy Sunday Everyone!

It's almost time for the BIG GAME between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns!  BUT before heading to the TV, I wanted to share with you a creation I made for the 'Besties' Challenges.

I've had this image colored since before Christmas ... just didn't have the time to put it into card form.  BUT since I see there is still time to participate in two of the Besties Challenges ... today's the day!

Isn't he just the most handsome Santa!?!

And here I go again ... using up scraps!  Yep, it's nearly time to put all my Christmas stamps, papers & embellishments away for another year so I'm going through scraps that are still hanging around on my craft table.

I don't remember where the sentiment panel came from (sorry!) but it matched in with my paper which is BoBunny 'Father Christmas', so I used it.  The piece of green organza ribbon was a scrap piece left over from Hershey Bar pouches and I must admit I had to go 'In Search Of' for the jingle bells ... they look so cute!

January Birthdays

Since I have three birthday's in January, I figured I'd better get busy making cards!

One is my Mom and the other two are friends who both like the color purple.  

I was wanting to play along in the Cheery Lynn Designs challenge (which ends in a couple of hours ... eeks!) What a better opportunity to get started on these birthday cards.

The basis for this creation actually came from inspiration drawn from team member Debbie Brownmiller over on the Cheery Lynn Designs team.  Her card for this challenge really caught my eye! 

For this creation I've used the following:

Papers:  white cs, scrap of hunter green cs, Graphic45 'Secret Gardens', scrap of SU

Cheery Lynn Designs dies used are:  B231 Birthday, B226 Happy, B310 Shasta Daisy, B147 Olive Branches, DL103 Italian Flourish, B136 Anastasia Border, B117S Fanciful Flourish Sm.

Purple Stickles was used to 'dot' the "I" and the flower centers.

Let the paper talk . . .

Happy Saturday my friends!

I'm in my cave today working on some new DT creations for the New Year and thought I'd take a little break to share a few more of those last minute Christmas cards I made.

Since I was running so short on time and there are so many BEAUTIFUL design papers out there, I thought I'd let some of those papers 'speak for themselves' ... 

Here's what I'm talking about . . .

The papers used on the front of these three cards are from the KaiserCraft  6 1/2" Paper Pad called 'Turtle Dove'.

My cards are A-6 in size so the images worked perfectly for my card fronts and the little image I used on the inside of my cards were originally positioned in the top right corner of the design paper.  I simply cut them into a square and adhered them to the inside cover.  They were too beautiful to not use!














By simply stamping a sentiment on the front (in the open space) and adding a sentiment to the inside, these three cards came together quite quickly!  OH AND WAIT ... within this paper pack, there were 2 sheets of each of these images ... which meant I had SIX cards completed in no time and they are beautiful!

 

Well, I guess I'd better GET BACK TO WORK CREATING!  LOL!

Today I'm trying to getting my glassware & platters packed away for another party day, and thought I'd take a quick moment to share a few additional last minute Christmas cards I made 'just in the nick of time' to have them go postal to friends & family.

 

Here are a few more using some fun die cuts I purchased at Joan's Gardens over the past year. The corner snowflake is by Memory Box.  The Snowman as well as the Sign are by Marianne.  The 'sign' is part of a set that also has a 'street light' as seen in the card below.  The Santa w/reindeer die is by Cheery Lynn Designs.

For the following two card creations, I have used the same stamp 'Snowy Postcard' by Stampendous which I asked Joan at Joan's Gardens to order for me last year.  For the first card I stamped the image with Versafine 'Sepia' ink ... colored in the holly/berries with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers then simply attached to my background paper and added ribbon.  Quick ... Easy ... Beautiful!

While there was still a bit of the sepia ink on my stamp, I stamped it again using Tim Holtz 'broken china' distress ink.  I love how a hint of each color came through on the image.

Okay ... time for sharing is over!

Neighborhood Holiday Party - 2013

Happy Christmas Eve Morning!

Thought I'd swing by real quick and share a few photos with you from our Neighborhood Holiday Party from this past Sunday.  We are so blessed with neighbors who have become good friends and for the past 5-6 years Mark & I have been hosting a party to gather them all together for celebrating a new year and to catch up with each other on what transpired throughout the past year.

Of course Mark went ALL OUT with the menu this year.  It consisted of:

• Buffalo Chicken Dip
• BBQ Meatballs/Weinies
• Spinach-Artichoke Dip
• Shrimp Coctail
• Sandwich Ring
• Cheese/Meat Tray w/crackers
• Veggie Tray w/veggie dip
• Stuffed mushrooms
• Stuffed sweet baby peppers
• Bacon wrapped tenderloin
• Fresh Fruit Salad 
• Scrumptious Granny Smith Apple Cake
• Homemade chocolate & peanut butter fudge
• Mixed nuts brittle 

Neighbor Hala brought her wonderful homemade hummus w/pita bread.

Friend Lona brought a yummy Angel Food Cake Compote.

Neighbor Christy brought candy/nut trail mix.

 

Daughter Carolyn brought a huge homemade cookie tray.

Isn't this peppermint candy tray awesome?!?  Carolyn spotted it on Pinterest and as busy as she's been, made one to hold her wonderful array of homemade cookies for today's party!  How awesome is that!  

Great job Carolyn!!

 

 It was so wonderful to have everyone come & enjoy this holiday feast with us!  

Even little Llyla (granddaughter Morgan's Jack Russell Terrier) joined us this year!  She was so good!

I just love having friends/family come to visit!

What a blessing!

Well I'd better get the final touches on the gift wrapping before going to our daughter's for Christmas morning breakfast & gift exchange!

Teddy Bear Drive Update ...

Good Monday before Christmas Morning to you all!

I wanted to quickly update you on the fabulous idea my granddaughter Morgan came up with in October to have a Teddy Bear Drive for the children at Akron Children's Hospital and Pittsburgh Children's Hospital this holiday season.

With a lot of help and support from her mother, family & friends, I'm THRILLED to announce we were able to collect over 1,000 1100 bears for the children this holiday season!

 HOW FABULOUS IS THAT!!

The first round of bears were delivered to Akron Children's Hospital yesterday ...

YEP ... teddy bears in all those bags & boxes!

And the delivery to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital took place this morning ...

Our beautiful granddaughter, Morgan on the right!  Great job sweetie!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all who contributed in anyway to make 

this wonderful idea a reality!!

Last Minute Christmas Cards ...

MORNING!

Still crazy busy around here ... trying to get everything ready for our neighborhood holiday get together this Sunday.  But, thought I'd share just a few of the last minute Christmas cards I made last Saturday.

I will be back later in the day to add all the details ... only have a minute before hubby is ready to go to breakfast and out to do some shopping.

I actually made 30 cards this day and used up a LOT of scrap pieces that were on my work table.  Everything from die cut images, ribbon, sentiment panels ... well you know!

Ooops ... hubby's ready to go!
