Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

I've only used ONE wood block stamp today and stamp is an old SU stamp that believe it or not, I've never inked up until today.  Some how this got buried under other wood blog stamps and forgotten about.  Talk about NEGLECTED!  Geesh!!

Anyways, I stamped it twice ... colored with Tombow markers then fussy cut the focus flower from the second stamping and popped it up over the original card panel image.

Nuvo Crystal drops were used for an accent and I've used a sentiment stamp & die set from The Ton for my sentiment.  Unfortunately, these days, I can't seem to keep enough sympathy stamps on hand!

Why not pop over and check out her blog and play along ... you know you have wood block stamps that need some love just like I do!  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day ahead!!

Using up scraps . . .

 Happy Day Everyone!!

I'm at my sister's today for my monthly pampering (hair cut/color and a pedicure) but just had to share a card with you that I created yesterday.

As you all know I had a few FABULOUSLY FUN days with some crafting friends and while we were together they asked about the cards I made the other day using the border dies with scrap designer paper behind ... see THESE CARDS.

* * * * * * *

Months ago I was creating some tissue box covers and always end up with a scrap piece 12x12x3.
Here's the tissue box cover I made . . .

Of course, I have those scrap strips laying on the side of my big work table JUST IN CASE I would need one for another project.  Sandy and I looked through the Heartfelt Creations border dies she had brought along with her to see if one of those would work for this technique and die cut a white panel for an A6 card and came up with this card.

Now just in case you haven't figured it out by now, I used that scrap of EASTER designer paper behind the die cut panel for my card.  As most crafters know, we don't WASTE ANYTHING and I decided to use the rest of that scrap panel for the Tutti Designs sentiment.

A few coordinating Nuvo drops and VIOLA!!
Who would have thought . . . lol!

I've been working on trying to 'think outside the box' a little more lately so I'm pretty happy with how this card turned out!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!!

Just playing around . . .

 Happy Happy Day All!!

I have a couple more cards to share with you today that I created the other day with goodies I purchased while shopping with crafting friends Sandy & Laurel.

First Up, this fun card created using my new Lisa Horton A6 - 3D 'Boot-iful' embossing folder.  I decided to emboss it onto brown textured card stock then gently sponge white ink over the top to help showcase the embossing.  What do you think?

The sentiment dies are from Tutti Designs and I've added the prima flower in the corner with Nuvo yellow crystal drop center.  I've also used a yellow Tombow marker for the flower centers on the embossed flowers.

 Card #2

I wanted to use a couple of the Butterflies from the AALL & CREATE Ephemera pack I bought up at Stamplistic so created this lovely outdoor scene using some of my Stampscape stamps, plastic cloud stencil and TH distress oxide inks.

I have a busy week ahead of me so, if I'm going to get anything done around here I'd better get busy!  LOL

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today,
I appreciate it more than you'll ever know!!

Playing with ephemera . . .

 Hello friends ...

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!!

My NC crafting friend left this morning to go back home and WOW what a fun three days we had!!  All we did was craft shop, craft in my cave & EAT!  LOL    One day we picked up another crafting friend and headed north (towards Cleveland) to do some craft shopping, another day we head south to Amish country to a couple shops we heard about down there and the rest of the time we were either crafting, eating or sleeping!  LOL   What a great visit!

One of the things I picked up while we shopped at the Stamplistic store in Broadview Heights, OH (about 40 minutes away) was this pack of AALL & CREATE Crassulacae bits #43.

So while Sandy was out getting her hair cut and meeting another friend for lunch the other day, I decided to create a couple CAS cards for my 'show stash'.   These made it VERY quick & easy.  Here's what I came up with.

Card #1

I first dumped out the pack of flowers and sorted them to see what colors & sizes I had to work with.  I went with two different sizes of this pretty flower to create this simple sympathy card.  A few Nuvo crystal drops were all that needed for embellishment.  The leaves I've used on both cards is from another Stamplistic purchase and that's from a Lisa Horton 3D embossing folder/die set called 'Foliage Elements'.

 Card #2

Once again, ephemera & Nuvo drops for another quick card.   I've never been one for succulents but like how this came together.

Can You Handle the Pressure - Twist - Birthday or Anniversary

Hello Friends, thanks for stopping by today!

We have a new challenge starting today over on our new Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge Blog and the TWIST theme is ...

Birthday or Anniversary

Remember, the twist is optional but you MUST use an embossing folder on our projects to qualify for the prize.  Heat embossing is also permitted but only in conjunction with an embossing folder.

Here's what I've created to inspire you today.

I've use the Lisa Horton 3D Lily of the Valley embossing folder & die set as well as the layering stencil set for today's card.  My background paper is from Echo Park and called Bee Happy.

Tutti Designs Scallop Stitched Rectangle dies were use to mat this beautiful floral embossed panel and the design idea was found on Pinterest.   I've used Tim Holtz distress oxide inks and finger daubers for the coloring.

I do hope you'll come check out our challenge blog and play along.

Just playin' around

Hello friends ... welcome back to my blog!

Yesterday while looking through my various dies, I spotted a die that I haven't used in years so figured now was a good time to put it to use.

I've created a very simple card using Brutus Monroe designer paper and this Elizabeth Craft 'Romantic Bouquet' die.  A few Nuvo drops & faux stitching were used as embellishments and a sentiment from 'the TON' made this card a quick make.

I had originally place my die cut panel all the way to the edge of my card front but then didn't like it so cut another thin strip from my left over designer paper.  It would have been easier had I just placed the die cut panel inside the edge by 1/4" LOL.

Hope you have a nice day today!

My crafting friend Sandy has come up from NC to visit for a few days so we are off to hit a few craft stores before buckling down for some serious crafting!  LOL

As always ... thanks for stopping by!

Need too many Sympathy cards . . .

 Hello friends ...

Sadly, I'm in need of several sympathy cards right now so before sending them I thought I'd share them with you today.  The basic design is simple but the one I did 'fancy up' with flowers.

 Card #1

Inside view:

On both cards, I've used Creative Expressions dies for the basic design and scraps of pretty designer paper positioned behind the opening.

For Card #1, I have used the Sue Wilson 'Floral Meadow' (CED1605) and for Card #2 I've used Sue Wilson 'Striplets - Regal' (CED1608).

The flowers on Card #1 were created using the (old) Sue Wilson Finishing Touches 'Passion Flower' (CED1497) and using up the last couple sheets of an old 6x6 paper pack.  The leaf sprigs were a variety of dies and Nuvo drops were used as an accent.

 Card #2

 Inside view:

Again I'm using up scraps for the background paper behind the die cut and the butterflies were cut from the same paper using an old Martha Stewart butterfly punch (gosh haven't used that in a VERY long time).

Inspired by other crafting friends . . .

 Happy Tuesday All ...

Yesterday while commenting on some crafting friends blogs, I spotted THIS card over on Bonnie's blog and she was inspired by another creative crafter, Michele with THIS card.  Since both cards were very much of my liking, I thought I'd add a little twist to it (to make it my own) and came up with this card . . .

I have so many 3D embossing folder that I just LOVE creating with so today, I went with a Lisa Horton folder called 'Abstract Dahlia' and my floral stem is a very old die by Poppystamps called 'Tulip Branch' (#1146).

The sentiment used today is from the Simon Says 'Wild & Free Flowers' stamp set (#2026ssc).

The floral stem was die cut from a scrap of white card stock then colored with Tombow markers.  The same purple marker was used for the faux stitching and Nuvo drops were used for an accent.

 Thanks ladies for inspiration!!

And thank you for taking the time to stop by today!
I truly appreciate it!  Blogging has changed considerably and unfortunately
I get very few visitors these days and even fewer comments.

As always, have a wonderful day ahead and

3D Rainbow embossing

 Happy Monday All!

I took a little time yesterday to play around with a quick design I spotted over on Pinterest a while back.  I love my 3D embossing folders ... you can just do so many things with them to bring them to life!!

What do you think??

The 3D embossing folder I've used is by Lisa Horton - 'Camellia Cluster' (LHCEF043) and the sentiment panel is a stamp/die set by Pink Fresh 'Perfect Sentiments'.

LOL ... would you believe it was just now that I noticed I had placed my embossed panel upside down on my card front ... duh!!  Oh well, too late ... as I glued the sentiment panel on so no way of taking it off without destroying the card.

It should have looked like this with the colors running red to purple  - left to right.
Oh well ... still a pretty card! LOL

Ok time to 'get to work' ... I have several card orders to finish up and I'm thrilled to say my North Carolina (she used to live close to me here in Ohio) crafting friend Sandy is coming up Wednesday to spend a few days with us and she & I will be crafting up a storm plus running around to a few stores that she doesn't have in NC.

One of those stores is Hollo's Paper Craft which is a paper company on the outskirts of Cleveland where we can buy our card stock by the pound in a variety of weights & colors.  Another spot we want to hit is in the other direction ... south ... down in Amish Country where another local friend of hers discovered a few crafting stores that we went to when she came up in April for the Adventures in Stamping convention but at that time neither of us 'took enough cash' with us to purchase as much as we would have liked!  LOL  We'll be prepared this time!!  LOL
