Inspired by others . . .

 Hello Friends . . .

WOW what a fun & busy weekend.  Had such a great time with a couple girlfriends the past couple of days shopping at the Adventures in Stamping convention, lunches, dinners and a whole day of crafting ... shew!  I'm, exhausted!! LOL  And, sad it over!  

I'm still working on putting together a few things from our purchases to share with you but in the meantime, early last week I was scrolling through some FB reels and saved a couple card making videos that inspired me and here's my take on one of those cards/videos.

I need to quickly make a couple more of this design and get them in the mail for Easter cards ... good grief, time is getting away from me this year!!! 

 

 I hope you're able to open the reel but if not, this one isn't too hard to figure out on your own.  After making my card base, I made it into a Z-fold card by scoring in from the outside edge (front cover) 1-1/2" and folded it back.  I cut another 1-1/2" white (scraps) panel to be used for the horizontal cross panel.  Also using scraps I cut a narrower strip of white, embossed it with one of my folder to create the cross.

You can use what ever designer papers you wish, as well as the sentiment, embellishment.

 There is SO MUCH inspiration out there from other crafters, I'm truly enjoying creating my version of their vision!  Give it a try why don't you!?!

Birthday wishes . . .

 

 Hello friends . . .

Another month is quickly drawing to a close and while playing with some of my new Lisa Horton 3D embossing folders, I created this card and wanted to quickly get it entered into the Alphabet Challenge where the theme is X for X-Ray - Black & White only. 

 The Lisa Horton folder I've used was purchased over the weekend at the Stamplistic store located about 45 minutes from my house in Broadview Heights, OH.  This one is called 'Corner Hydrangea' and comes with a coordinating outline cutting die.

The sentiment is from the Stampendous 'Birthday Messages' stamp set and Black Nuvo Crystal Drops were used for the floral centers and accent.  A thin strip of b/w gingham ribbon & Prima flower were the only extras needed to complete today's card.

Here's a closer look at the embossing ... I just LOVE these 3D folders!!

 Hello friends ... Happy Sunday!

Today's a busy day for me but wanted to share a quick card with you before my NC friend Sandy & I head over to the annual Adventures in Stamping convention to see how much money we can spend on new crafting goodies LOL.

But before heading out, the new challenge over on the Sunday Stamps blog ✓ spoke to me the other day and I wanted to make a quick card to share.  Their challenge (ends 4/3) is called 'Oval Things' and here's the sketch they have to share.

 

 For my background, I've used a panel from the Mintay 'Springtime' 6x6 paper pad.  The oval medallions are from an old Spellbinder die set called 'Opulent Ovals' (S5-160).  Like I said, this is a VERY OLD set and I don't see where it's available anywhere online ... sorry!

 

I've stacked the two larger medallions together then placed a K&Company dimensional flower sticker in the center as the focus image.  My sentiment is from the 'So Happy' Altenew stamp set and was die cut using the Sue Wilson 'Stitched Flag Frames' die set.  Nuvo Crystal Drops were used for added dimension.

We have a new challenge starting today over on our new Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge Blog and the TWIST theme is ...

Remember, the twist is optional but you MUST use an embossing folder on your projects to qualify for the prize.  Heat embossing is also permitted but only in conjunction with an embossing folder.

 Here's what I've created to inspire you today ...

 

 I spotted these puffy stick on critters hanging on my accessory wall and thought they'd be cute for a kids card (specifically my great grandson Charlie) climbing up the wall with their googlie eyes!  LOL

 

 I've used an old Darice brick wall embossing folder, the sentiment is Sue Wilson and the ivy vine was laying on the work table so added it too.

Hip Hip Hooray!

 

 Happy Friday All!

This is going to be a busy but fun weekend for me!  The annual Adventures in Stamping Convention which is usually held here in Akron the last weekend of APRIL has been moved to the last weekend in MARCH ... yep!  This weekend!  YAY!  My crafting friend Sandy has come up from North Carolina to go to stay with me so we can go to convention and craft the weekend away.  

In fact, we are headed to our favorite paper company 'Hollos Papercraft' this morning (where we can get our card stock in a variety of colors & weights priced by the pound!  But before we head out I wanted to share a card with you that I quickly created with the leftover that were laying on the table from Tuesday's card HERE.   

The difference is the layout an the Altenew stamp set I used.  That stamp set is the Build a Garden: Daffodil Delight.  Tombow markers were used for the coloring.

 

 

 Tombow markers were used for the coloring and the sentiments are from the Creative Expressions 'Birthday' wordies set which I thought worked perfectly and rhymed quite nicely too lol.

Black & White

 

Happy Thursday my friends!!

Today's card was inspired by the challenge over at the Alphabet Challenge Blog ... the theme is 'X for X-ray' ... aka  Black & White (ends 4/2) ✓.  I knew I wanted to used Dots & Stripes in the design so now I needed to find a sketch challenge that caught my eye.   That happened when I discovered a sketch challenge I had never participated in before and that is the Creative Sketchy Girls Blog (ends 4/20).  Here's the fun sketch they are offering . . .

 

Now that I have my starting points I needed to decide on my focus image and with the theme being black & white I just had to go with the fun Zebra from a Zoo cutout pack I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

           

 The circles behind the zebra are from the Greetery (Crimped Circles) and the grasses are from the Paper Rose 'Grass Bushes' #17367.  The zebra was popped up with dimension tape and Nuvo crystal drops were used for an accent.

Wood Block Wednesday Challenge

  
Hello Friends

Amy Tsuruta has her Woodblock Wednesday challenge up and running and I've been trying to join in each month as it gives me the opportunity to play with all my old wooden block stamps which don't get the love they deserve since clear stamps came about.

  

 The wood block stamp I've used today is from an old Stampin' Up set called 'Fruit Stand'.  

 

After stamping this bunch of grapes twice, I colored them with Tombow markers and fussy cut using a swivel craft knife.   

For my design, I've referred back to one of my favorite sketches over at the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge Blog.  (their sketch #722)  I dug through my scraps for strips of designer paper that had purple in them that I thought would coordinate well with these grapes.  The sentiment is from the TON.

Not Older, Just Better

 Hello friends ... hope you're having a fabulous day!

Today I decided to put together a couple fun challenges to create my card share.  
They are as follows:

One of the two sketches offered over on the 

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 Challenge blog ... I chose #323 and it ends 3/31.

 

 and

 The Card Concept Challenge #225 (Spring Flowers) ... ends 4/6. ✓

 

 I have so many pretty packs of 6x6 designer paper and several just have a page or two left in them so I've been working on trying to use those as much as possible lately (lol need to make room for newer ones ya know).  I actually have a drawer designated just for spots, dots, stripes, gingham .. that sort of thing ... so that's the drawer I dove into today.

My focus flowers come from the Altenew 'Build a Garden' - Dear Dahlias and I've colored it with Tombow markers (#401, #673, #946, #126 and #055).  After die cutting my flowers with the coordinating die for this Dahlia set, I popped it up onto an oval that was die cut using the Tutti Designs 'Scallop Stitched Oval Die' set (next to the largest die in the set).

Nuvo Crystal Drops were used for the accent and my sentiment comes from the Creative Expressions 'Birthday' wordies set.

I truly enjoy selecting a few challenges to combine and create a card.  With these three fabulous challenges, I have my sketch (good starting point), my theme (always need that) and my sentiment (finishing touch).  

Products used are as follows:

Image - Penny Black 'Icy Winds' premium cardstock image (my 4-legged friend)
Dies - Memory Box 'Fanciful Fences #30035' - Memory Box 'Frosty Border #98171

Sentiment -  Altenew 'Birthday Greetings' that was die cut using Sue Wilson Flag dies

 

 The fencing was die cut from a scrap of white card stock then inked using Tim Holts Distress 'Walnut Stain' ink / large sponge dauber.  Nuvo Crystal Drops were used for the added dimension embellishment.
