Crafty Secrets Garden Notes Booklet with Tutorial

Hello my friends and welcome back!

Earlier this week in my post for the Crafty Secrets June Linky Party - DT Challenge, (which you still have until 12 PM PST to enter), I shared a Garden themed wall art canvas with the promise of another project that would include a step-by-step tutorial and I'm here to keep that promise!
(That is before I forget to post it ... I tell ya the mind is a terrible thing to loose!  LOL!)
So let's get started!
WARNING!  This post is PHOTO HEAVY since I don't own a video camera for tutorials!

  • Print a variety of design papers from the CD#2 Illustrations CD at 8 ½ x 11 size.
  • Cut papers 6” x 8 ½” for your main panels and keep the smaller cut portion (5 x 8 ½) to be used as an inside booklet/pockets.

  •  Arrange your larger panels back to back to create your pages ... adhering together is a strong adhesive such as Scor-tape or I've used my Scotch Tape Gun.
  • Do the same with the smaller ‘matching’ panels then score in half (4 ¼”) to create your inner booklet

Now that you have all your paper panels adhered together and booklet panels scored and folded, you will want to lay out your pages in the order you wish to have them in.

For this project I chose to hole punch and use book rings.  I actually have a regular 3-hole punch which hubby keeps in the office for his paper work . . . so I borrowed it for a moment and it make quick business of the hole punching.

Here's a photo of the booklet's front cover once it was all put together, but prior to embellishing.

Here's the entire booklet once put together ... note the smaller book panels in between each page.  You can use either panel for photos (as in scrapbooking) or gardening notes.

HERE'S THE FINISHED PRODUCT!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I have used several of the images, etc. available on CD#2 but the brand new GARDENING line of images/papers would be PERFECT for this type of project ... please be sure to check out all the new gardening related products available now at the new Crafty Vintage Girl store.

And, remember ... you still have time to participate in this month's Linky Party and have to win a $50.00 Crafty Secrets Gift Certificate.
Everyone who enters also wins a $6.00 Gift Certificate.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and if so, please take the time to leave me a comment ... I would certainly love to hear what you have to say!!  Hope to see you at the Party and as always . . .

Shelly's Images Challenge

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Time is sure flying ... can't believe it is June!!  Today it's time for another fun challenge over at Shelly's Images and our theme today is BEACH!

I wanted to keep the focus on this adorable image so my design is pretty simple today.  I must admit, I was just learning how to use my alcohol markers (thanks Shelly!) when I colored this image and I was quite pleased with it's outcome ... what do you think?  Yep ... Shelly & I actually video Skyped so she could step me through the process of using alcohol markers.  She was using Copics and I was using Spectrum Noir so the numbers didn't match but the process was what I really needed her help on!  She is a GREAT teacher!

Today's featured digi is called 'BEACH SIGN'.  The design team has created some fabulous inspirational pieces for you today ... be sure to pop over and check 'em out!

Shelly also has other 'beach' related images available at the store ... perfect for all those summertime birthday cards and vacationing friends!

I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun this week and remember ... YOU could WIN free Shelly's Images!  So what are you waiting for?  I'll be watching for your BEACHY creations!

A few additional challenges to participate in:
Delightful Challenge - Here Comes the Sun
DL.ART - June Anything Goes
Dutch Dare Card Challenge - Summer's Coming
Crafting By Designs - Anything Goes with a Summer Fun Twist

Crafty Secrets June Linky Party & DT Challenge

Hello again my friends!
(If you are looking for my creation for the Squigglefly Challenge, please scroll down ... thanks!)

It's the 1st Monday of the month and that means time for another LINKY PARTY over at the Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Blog.  AND, the challenge for the design team this month is all about
 GARDENS/GARDENING!

Remember, you can use ANY Crafty Secrets product for your creation entry!
We LOVE seeing what you have to share with us!

Have you checked out all the new digital gardening images available?  They are FANTASTIC and so much fun to create with!  I decided to make a piece of Garden Wall Art for you today and although I fully intended to have a step-by-step tutorial for you I must apologize and vow to do better with that on my next project (sneak peak at the end of this post).

I started out on the right foot (in regards to the tutorial) but then had computer/printer problems and while hubby was [in my space] trying to remedy that problem I was continuing on with my project and TOTALLY FORGOT to take photos along the way!  Thankfully I had printed off several things before my printer decided to go haywire!  Grrrrrrr~

I've selected images/papers from CD#2 Illustrations as well as the new DAS-114 Flower Garden Digital stamp set. Of course my adorable garden 'subject' is from the Garden Girl digital set.  I loved her as a clear stamp and even more so now that she's digital and I can make her larger for creations such as this wall hanging.

To give a more rustic appearance, I have inked the edges of all my images using Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress inks and a large sponge dauber.  I also used up a few scraps of paper from my Radiant pack for this creation.

After printing and cutting out several pieces I thought I could use on this project or 'the other project I'm working on (will post later in the week), I just started laying pieces out on my background paper until I was happy with how it looked.

So what do you think???
Here's a look at the final result!

Using more of the Radiant scrap of paper, I created a handmade flower using the new Sizzix 'Susan's Garden' dies.

My bird perched on top is also from the CD#2 and ties in perfectly with my focus image I think!  So EASY ... just print, cut out, score & glue ... PERFECT 3d addition!

Below I have added a couple CLOSE UP photos so you can get a better view of some of the detail.

Please be sure to check out the amazing 'garden related' creations/tutorials the rest of the team has to inspire you with today!  They are quite the talented group of ladies!!

I want to encourage you to enter our Linky Party and post any sample you have created.  Don't be shy, you can enter one sample or multiples using any of our products and  you might be the random winner of a $50.00 Crafty Secrets Gift Certificate and all the other entries win a $6.00 CS Gift Certificate.   So, COME ON . . . what do you have to lose???

Ooops ... did I just say that out loud?  Sorry!  LOL!

Anyways ... it is June and it is Monday and that means it's time for another fun challenge over at Squigglefly!  This week's SFC-2213 challenge is

SUMMERTIME IS HERE!
(ideas: outdoors, beach, children playing, end of school, vacation, . . .)

For today's creation I have used an adorable image by Lynne Stansbery called "Buried Treasure".

Isn't she adorable?  I've kept the design simple to bring focus to her and the fun she's having on her summer vacation at the beach!  I've taken the liberty of using a few other 'beachy' images I have in my stash on the front of my card, but the INSIDE sentiment is also a part of this fun stamp set (see below).

Joan's Gardens Challenge

Happy Sunday my friends and I hope the sun is shining for you today!

I've been so busy that I've not had the opportunity to play along in one of my favorite challenges and that is the challenge over at Joan's Gardens.  But I intend to remedy that with my creation for this week's challenge which is to:
  • Use a leaf design for the background (die cut, embossed or stamped)
  • Add purple flowers
  • Use White, Green and Purple Colors
  • Use A Sentiment
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens.

I still need practice making this little roses but I didn't do too bad since it was my first time using these dies and it was 10:00 P.M. when I decided to make them!  (Note to self ... try again after breakfast when you are fresh minded!)  Either way ... I'm still very happy with the outcome of this card and hope you like it too!

Selma & Joan are always coming up with fabulous challenge ideas and that is one of the reasons why I enjoy this particular challenge so much!    I typically end up doing something I've never tried before and that is due to Selma's amazing talents and inspiration!  If you don't know who Selma Stevenson is, well you'll have to pop over to her blog  Selma's Stamping Corner and check out her work ... it's fabulous!

Well I need to get moving ... we are headed over to Pennsylvania where we have our boat dry docked and have a gentleman interested in buying it.  He is coming to take a closer look ... cross your fingers!!

A few other challenges to share my creation in are:
Di's Digi Designs - Winged Things
 Bloggers - To Die For
Card Makin Mamas - Rubber Stamp Inspiration
Daring Cardmakers - Make It Yourself (homemade flowers)
