Fishing Buddies

Happy Sunday Everyone!
For the next four Sundays I will be sharing 'Masculine' cards here on my blog
as my design team creation for the Tutti Designs Blog
Today I'm using the Fishing Buddies die from the
Tutti Designs May Release of masculine themed dies.

No automatic alt text available.

This die can certainly stand on it's own but I wanted to add
a little added dimension so here's what I did . . .
I die cut my Fishing Buddies die twice from black card stock, being sure to save those little pieces that would normally fall out and be discarded.   After adhering my die cut to a white card stock panel, I carefully laid those little black pieces in where they fell from and carefully sponged Tim Holtz 'broken china' distress ink around the background to create a sky.

To add just a touch of color which also adds extra dimension, I colored in those clothing accent lines using ZIG markers.  I didn't have to be super careful because once colored in, I glued the second die cut panel on top of the first which gave me the dimension and look I was after.

For my sentiment panel I simply die cut the word Dad on a scrap piece of white cardstock being careful to 'once again' save those little pieces that would normally just fall out and be discarded.

By doing this, I was able to use the 'negative' of my die cut and save the 'positive' cut for another product another day.   A couple little added fish and my card is ready for Dad!!

And, even though this would make a fabulous Father's Day card,
I have decided to make mine a birthday card for Dad.  Here's a peek at the inside.

Please be sure to pop over to the Tutti Designs Store and check out all of the fabulous dies in this latest release.  And, of course, you'll want to browse through the store to see what other dies you need to have on hand.

Isn't that the sweetest silhouette die? Love the feeling it invokes. I spent many a day fishing with my Dad. Happy times! Love your matching sentiments too, perfect!!!

That's really cool to add those little touches of color like that! Beautiful sponged sky. Love that sentiment inside, too. Funny how the picture of the die on the package makes it look like it faces the other way.

Dar, what a fabulous way to get those tiny pops of color on the silhouettes! Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. I'm going to try this with some of my silhouette dies. :-D NC

Love the colors you brought to the silhouette and great job on the backgrounds, like the fish accents!
