Joan's Gardens Challenge

Happy Saturday fellow bloggers & friends!
I hope your weekend is off to a fabulous start!  It's snowy & cold here in Ohio today so I think I'll just hide in my crafting cave and play!

This morning I'd like to share a card I made for the current challenge at Joan's Gardens.  Here are the requirements for the challenge this week . . .

  • Use some kind of lattice - we want you to be creative
  • Use a circle or oval die cut background
  • Create a flower that have been painted. You can use Gesso on it, acrylic paints stains, etc. - be creative
  • Include some dry embossing that has been inked

  • AGAIN I have to commend Joan & Selma on having WONDERFUL challenge themes!  This challenge ALWAYS makes me think outside the box and utilize products that are sitting on my shelf and I forget about!!  Well done ladies!

Here's the card I came up with and LOVED creating it!
Products used on this card are:
Paper:  White cardstock, Hunter Green cardstock
Accessories:  Cheery Lynn Designs 'Build A Flower 2', Spellbinder 'Beaded Circle' die, Cheery Lynn Designs 'B117S Fanciful Flourish Sm', Cheery Lynn Designs 'DL112 Exotic Butterfly Sm', Memory Box 'Tessatina Border', Provo Craft Vines dies, Judi Kins MicaGloss Metallic Effects Ink (Aquamarine & Amethyst), Couture Creations 'Vintage Plumes' 5x7 embossing folder, Stickles 'Diamond', sponge daubers, Liquid Pearls 'White Opal', Punch Bunch Flower Making Kit, McGill black flower forming mat, Art Glitter adhesive
(items identified in RED were purchased through Joan's Gardens)

After die cutting the pieces for my flowers using the Cheery Lynn Designs Build A Flower 2, I sponged each petal using the Aquamarine on the one side and the Amethyst on the other side.  In this close up I hope you can also see the touches of diamond Stickles around the edges of my flower ... it is SO MUCH PRETTIER IRL!  So hard to get my photos to show that!!

THIS is one of those products (I was referring to earlier) that I purchased for a workshop at Joan's then forgot I had until today!  I must also tell you that I was inspired by my friend Diane's (Nellie's Nest) card creation for this same challenge where she showed the 'paint' of her choice for her flowers and it lead me back to these little bottles that have been sitting on my shelf!  (Thanks Girlfriend!!)

I also sponged the Aquamarine onto my background panel before running it through the Vagabond in my embossing folder.  The metallic effect this paint has made for a beautiful background.

I hope you like my creation and will come join in the fun challenges at Joan's Gardens!

Here are a few other challenges this card qualifies for:
Cheery Lynn Designs - Die Cut Flowers
Heck of a Challenge - Spring/Butterflies and Pearls
House of Gilli - Anything Goes + Pastels
Natalie and Amy #7 - Die Cuts
One Crazy Stamper - Anything Goes
    Nana Vic's Challenge #4 - Anything Goes
QKR Stampede - 3 of Something (3 butterflies)
    C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Use Embossing

Time to get busy with other projects!  Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today and for always encouraging me to keep doing what I do!  Till next time and as always . . .
