Hello Dear Friends!
It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!
Here's today's theme:
May's Birth Flowers
(Lily of the Valley and Hawthorn)
(Lily of the Valley and Hawthorn)
and Birthstone is Emerald
Use these three colors on your card creation.
and here's an inspiration board created to help get you started . . .
WOW! Guess I never paid much attention to the month of May flowers and birthstone color since I don't have anyone directly related with a May birthday. So I had to do a little investigating online and found this image of pink Hawthorn (wasn't familiar with this flower ... comes in both pink & white). Saved the image, printed onto 4x6 and used for my background panel.
No matter if I used my phone or my camera for the photo of my card ... it kept coming out more of a red color vs hot pink color (guess you'll have to use your imagination lol).
I grabbed a few Prima white flowers and colored them with a Tombow marker to mimic the Hawthorne flowers for my embellishment and added a sentiment. If you look closely, you will see the centers are yellow so I used my yellow Nuvo crystal drops for the floral centers.
You'll want to be sure to pop over to the Double D Challenge Blog to see all the details and amazing samples offered up by our VERY TALENTED design team ladies!!

Oh how pretty this is, Dar. Coloring your prima flowers to match the flowers in the background is brilliant!! Hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteYou and I did the same thing by mimicking those flowers. That was a real challenge for me. You did much better than I did. I know that sometimes taking a photo can be difficult, but not matter the color, this is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! So clever to print the photo out and use as beautiful Designer Paper! I love how you colored your Prima flowers too--spot on! This is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWow, you found the perfect hawthorn pic for your card! Your Prima flowers are a perfect match, too. I don't think they grow real commonly here because I was not familiar with them, either. I'll bet they're a sight to see in real life!
ReplyDeleteSo bright and cheerful, I don't think I have ever heard of the Hawthorn flower, so this was a lesson learned for me!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, beautifully colored. Love how you have mimicked those flowers, you did it perfectly!!
