Sunshine, Bare Feet & Sandy Beaches

OH!  I Wish!
Hello again friends ... 2nd post for today!
I won't be around tomorrow ... headed to my sister's beauty shoppe
for a hair cut and a pedicure!
And yes ... rain, snow or sun ... I AM wearing my flip flops! LOL!
So I thought I'd share with you this evening, my second entry for the DREAMING OF THE BEACH challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow.

I just love these little kids!
Do little girls still wear little sundresses on the beach or am I showing my age??
For this card I've used some items that have been hanging on my embellishment board for years!  Why?  I don't know ... guess I just have too much stuff!
Wait!  What am I saying??  That can't possibly be the reason!

Here are a few additional challenges:
The Crafter's Cafe - Vintage or Shabby Chic
Diva's By Design - Rubber Stamps Only

Well it's time to make dinner so I'd better quit playing around and get upstairs!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great evening and wish me luck tomorrow ... you never know
what color I end up with at my pedicure!  Maybe green for the upcoming St. Patty's Day! LOL!

Recipe:
Papers:  SU Bermuda Bay cs, American Crafts dp
Stamp/Ink:  Inkadinkado, Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Bermuda Bay, TH Tea Dye
Accessories:  Seam Binding (colored with SU ink), EK Success Sandcastle Sticker, K&Co 3d seashells, Cheery Lynn Designs B119 Tropical Leaves dies, Pop Dots, Paper Piercer, ZIG fine tip marker for faux stitching, TH distresser, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Craft-Dee Bowz bow maker

Ready for BEACH weather?

H-E-L-L-O   B-L-O-G-G-E-R-S!
Are you as ready for some sunshine as much as I am?
Well, that's where my mind is today and when I saw the new challenge
I just knew I had to play along!

I have had this Stamps Happen Inc., #50031 Collecting Sea Shells rubber stamp in my collection for YEARS!  And, it seems every time I decide to stamp/color it, I end up putting this adorable little girl in either a PINK dress or a PURPLE dress!  LOL!  What's up with that???
I do so much with digital images these days that it was actually quite nice to stamp
and color an image for a change.  I have ALL these wonderful stamps that
aren't shown much love lately ... really must do something about that!

I've used my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers for my coloring.  Can you see the little 'sunburn' I've given her on her cheek, back & arms?    Once I got going on my design, I decided to pop up the image ... it just added more character along with the distressing and faux stitching.

My background panel is from the Basic Grey 'Wisteria' paper pad.  Another item I've had in my stash for years!  I only have a couple sheets left so have been rationing it.   I'm amazed I don't have more pattern papers with PURPLE as the theme since it is my favorite color and I find I use it a lot!  Hmmm ... have to make a note of that for my next shopping trip.

Speaking of OLD ... see the 'bling' at the bottom.  Those pink star fish have been in my stash since the beginning of my scrapbooking/card making days (something like 10 years now).  I had forgotten I had them until I started looking for the purple gems (also old) to place in the center of my flowers.  WOW!  Now that I'm really thinking about it ... there's a LOT of OLD stuff used on/for this creation!  That's a good thing!!

A few additional challenges I'd like to share with are:
Shopping Our Stash - Oh Shiny!
Crafts Galore Encore Challenge - Gem, Glitter, Any Bling You Fancy
The Artistic Stamper - Use Distress
ABC Challenge - F is for Flowers

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to stop by my blog and I hope you have found a bit of inspiration along the way!  Now I will leave you with what I see outside my doors today . . .

 HERE WE GO AGAIN!
Calling for another 1-3" today/tomorrow.
Guess I'll just have to stay in my crafting cave and be creative!
And honestly ... I'm quite happy to be able to do that!!

Recipe:
Papers:  SU Lavender Lace cs, SU Old Olive cs, SU Very Vanilla cs, Basic Grey 'Wisteria' dp
Stamp/Ink: Stamps Happen Inc., #50031 Collecting Sea Shells, Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress
Accessories:  Tim Holtz distresser, ZIG fine tip markers, Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourishes #B117S & B291, Cheery Lynn Designs Tropical Leaves #B119, Cheery Lynn Designs Build a Flower #3 (B265), Spellbinder 'Fleur De Lis Squares (S4-318), Hobby Lobby Lavender organza wedding ribbon and lavender gingham check ribbon, Kaiser purple rhinestones, NO CLUE who made the pink starfish gems

SWEETHEART Time of Year . . .

Good Monday Afternoon Everyone!
Yep ... it's my 2nd post of the day but I just couldn't help myself!

There are a couple of challenges that really caught my eye and I just HAD to play along.
The challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs is SWEETHEARTS ... and the challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is FIBRES & TEXTURES.

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE anything Vintage!
So, these 2 challenges really called out to me!

Just today I purchased a paper pack by The Paper Studio called Harper's Boutique (50% off at Hobby Lobby).  The papers are all black & white with a vintage flair!  Perfect! So,THAT was my starting point!
I knew I had some old vintage photos and was lucky enough to have this lovely couple riding an old vintage bicycle that fit my creation idea perfectly.  Now mind you ... I'm not sure if they were actually sweethearts ... if you look closely, she has a very grumpy look on her face  ... but there again, I don't think the ladies smiled much 'back in the day!'

What fun I had adding a fiber bow and feathers to my card.
Something I never think to do but LOVE the outcome ...
and it was so fitting for that time period!
A touch of faux doodle stitching helped to bring attention as well!

Here are a few additional challenges:
My Time to Craft - All About Love
Brown Sugar - Anything Goes
Simply Create Too - Valentine's Day or Use Hearts

It's nearly dinner time ... guess I should start thinking what to prepare!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you've had a good start to your week!
As always . . .

Recipe:

Family Forever . . .

Good Sunday Evening to All!
I just saw the challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow and had to play along this evening.  The challenge theme is 'We Are Family'.  With my own upcoming family reunion (next weekend), I was drawn to create.

Here's a little background on my family.
My mother is 1 of 12 children (9 girls & 3 boys).  Sadly, there are only four of the 12 left and my mother is next to the youngest at the tender age of 82. I have 42 first cousins so for the past 25 years, we have not only had an annual Family Reunion, but we have had a First Cousins Reunion (Fri & Sat) with the full Family Reunion on Sunday.  Here's a photo from 2010 that gives you an idea of just how big my family is and half of them aren't in the picture!  These are just the ones who were able to come into town that year!

Anyways ... enough about my family (God Bless Them One & All) ... onto my card creation.

There are so many photos of my own family I could have used for this card but thought best to pull from a collection of 'vintage' images I purchased through TJ Designs (www.tweetyjill.com).  Here are the other items used on this creation:
  • Black cs, Gray cs
  • Tim Holtz Post Cardembossing folder
  • Cheery Lynn Designs #DL112 Exotic Butterflies
  • Memory Box #98290 Valencia Border Die
  • Kaiser black pearls
  • Creative Imagination Epoxy Sticker
  • Black Stickles
I would also like to enter my card into these qualifying challenges:
Crafty Your Days Away - Final Challenge, Anything Goes
Hiding in My Craft Room - Limit to 2 Layers (HMCR59)
Avadares Challenge #2 - Anything for August
Fairytale Challenge Blog - Song Inspiration (We Are Family by Sister Sledge)
Inspire Me Friday #72 - Anything Goes
Totally Paper Crafts - Inspired by a Song (We Are Family by Sister Sledge)
Charisma Cardz Challenge - Monochromatic
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes

Well that's it for me tonight!
I hope you've had a wonderful, fun-filled weekend.
Thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to stop by and comment on my creations.

OH and a quick reminder ...

Here Comes Peter Cottontail . . .

. . . YEP ... Easter is early this year and will be here before you know it!  Today I'd like to share with you the card I made yesterday for the Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge ... 'Vintage Easter'.

Isn't this image adorable?  It comes from the Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps 'Easter' sheet.  They are actually 2 different images from the sheet which I put together.  The background designer paper is from Graphic45 'On The Boardwalk' 8x8 paper pack.  The ribbon is from Michael's and I've used the Bow-Easy to make my bow.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!  It's been a pretty 'quiet' weekend here ... so I'll probably do some more crafting to share with you later in the week!

Darlene

STITCHING

I just can't get enough of this beautiful 'Ladies Frock Together Digi Stamp' and it's just perfect for paper piecing (which I've done here) and since I was having trouble with the ole 40+ year old sewing machine, I decided to do faux stitching around my card & image. The designer paper I chose to use is from the My Mind's Eye 'Stella and Rose' paper pack.  I made the flowers using Sakaras punches, gold & orange cardstock & Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink. Oh ... and the leaves are from a Sizzix die - #656064.

Please be sure to jump on over to the Challenge Blog and see all the amazing work done by the Design Team ... they are AMAZING!!!

Thanks again to SCH for letting me be a part of their fun and thanks goes out to all of you who continue to honor me with your visits & comments!  I'm so blessed!!

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge

Today's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is to

** CREATE YOUR OWN FLOWERS **

and here is my creation using Tracy's beautiful butterfly and my handmade vellum flowers which I learned how to create at a workshop held at Joan's Gardens in Indiana last summer and taught by Selma Stevenson.  You can visit Selma's blog for instruction on making these flowers and several other types also.

I have used Prismacolor markers to color my butterfly and after cutting out using my Fiskars swivel craft knife, I have added 'Waterfall' Stickles to the outside edge for added sparkle.  My background paper is from a K&Co. designer 12x12 pack and was all that was needed to showcase my vellum flowers.

REMINDER ... Sugar Creek Hollow is celebrating their 1st Anniversary with SPECIAL EVENTS throughout the month of March.  Be sure to pop over to the blog for ALL the information.

While you are there, be sure to check out all the wonderful inspiration for today's challenge from the Design Team and then PLEASE come join us!!  I'd love to learn how to make 'other' ... 'different' types of flowers ... and I'm sure you can teach me!

Sugar Creek Hollow & Gingerloft

I'm sorry ... I just can't help myself today!!!
I'll try to keep this post short & sweet!!!

I've been on a roll with completing my cards (inside & OUT) and since that's the challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow ... I just HAD to join in!!

This beautiful butterfly is a Sugar Creek Hollow image and you can find it and more HERE.  So you can see the inside of my card, here is another photo.  Please note also that the wings on the butterfly have been cut out & popped up from the original print.
The designer paper I have used is by Making Memories (English Garden) 12x12 pack.  While I was "doing it all" ... I decided to make a matching envelope too ... really completes the package!!  I'll be doing more of this!!

* * * * *

The other card I'd like to share with you is for the Our Furry Friends challenge over on Gingerloft.  I have had this gorgeous bear image colored and laying on my table for WEEKS and when I saw the challenge theme today ... well you understand ... here it is:

My 'woodsy' dp is from DCWV and my only embellishment is Hemp.  I have used CHALK  & a makeup applicator for my coloring.  The inside reads "It's that time of year again!"
Here's a photo with it's matching envelope.  What an easy 'guy' card.  You don't need much when you start with a powerful image like this bear!

Well ... thanks again for taking a peek!  I promise ... NO MORE posts today!  In fact, I really need to go get my errands run before it's time for hubby to come home for dinner ... yikes ... you can sure loose track of time when you start creating!  Have a great day!!

BUTTONS & BOWS . . .

. . . that's the theme for the challenge this week over on Sugar Creek Hollow.  If you're not familiar with this challenge blog ... jump right over and check 'em out ... then jump to their store to see all the awesome images for purchase!

The background paper used on this creation is from a K&Company pack I just purchased at JoAnne's.  I've run a 'string' of gold Stickles between the Bucket 'o Buttons to 'join' them.  White satin ribbon adorns the corner and the lavendar organza bow was made using my Bow Easy (how did I ever live without that little gizmo!!).  Today I decided to do my coloring with my SU watercolor pencils and blender pen (they've been neglected for a while now!!).

Other Challenges are:
Card Cupids - Buttons & Bows
I Dit It Creations - Anything Goes
A Gem of a Challenge - Buttons, Brads, Beads, Bows (any or all)

That's it for me tonight!!  Now I'm headed upstairs to spend the evening with hubby (and probably fall asleep on the couch).  Hope you've had a pleasant weekend ... I sure did!  Hugs to you all and thanks for stopping by!!

Fun with a TAG & a SKETCH

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you are either IN a warm place or STAYING warm because it sure is a bitter cold day here in N.E. Ohio.  So I've decided to hide out in my 'crafting cave' today.  Besides ... I have painter's here painting my kitchen so I'm better off to 'stay out of their way!'.

My first creation this afternoon is a TAG for the challenge over on Joan's Gardens.  Have you checked this challenge out yet?  It's just for fun and helps you to get those so needed gift tags ready ahead of time.  You should see some of the AMAZING creations these ladies are coming up with!!  WOW!

I have used a Webster's Pages cotton verse (purchased at Joan's Gardens) for my focus image.  My original shipping tag was bright blue (an RAK from my friend Mary Frances - waving Hi)  so I toned it down using Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink then stamped vines on it and embossed them (hard to see in the photo ... sorry) ... next I bordered the tag using a Gold Pilot Marker.  My flower is from an OLD floral design that I threw in the trash but salvaged a few of the flowers first.  My butterfly was created using the MS lacy butterfly punch (from Joan's Gardens) and actually I have punched TWO ... the bottom one is red and the top one if from a scrap of dp that looks like burlap.  The fronds are from another MS punch and the beautiful May Arts green satin ribbon is also a purchase from Joan's Gardens.

* * * * *

The second creation I have for you today is for the Sketch Challenge over on Sugar Creek Hollow.  This one made me THINK a bit but I'm very happy with the outcome.  I think that is what I like so much about a sketch challenge ... so many are definitely NOT a sketch I would have come up with on my own!

My image if from Sugar Creek Hollow Store and I've used Prismacolor Markers for my coloring.  Don't know why I decided on blue & peach ... it just happened!  The ivy & birds in the corners are from a sticker pack I had in my scrapbooking supplies.   I tried using a rub-on (bottom right corner) ... but that didn't work out so well ... hence the addition of stickers!  Sssshhh don't tell anyone I made this boo-boo!

Well that's it for me this afternoon!  I think I'll head back down to the crafting cave and try to get ahead of the game on my DT work.  Hopefully I don't run out of mojo!!  I'm still getting over this stupid cold and it can really drag ya down ... know what I mean!  Grrrrr!  Anyways ... THANKS SO MUCH for stopping by and I hope you found inspiration in my work.

Hugs,
Darlene

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge and . . .

. . . another Nicecrane Design 'pyramid' creation.

Happy Monday to You!

You know how much I love 'vintage' ... well the challenge over on Sugar Creek Hollow this week is 'Sweet Vintage Valentine'.  I didn't do your traditional valentine colors on this one ... but chose to use more of the distressed/vintage look and colors.  I have used the Sugar Creek Hollow digi images called 'Valentine Vintage PostCard' which you can find in their store HERE.  After printing the image I used various Tim Holtz distress colors and sponge applicators for my coloring.  I must admit, I'm very happy with the outcome.

Other challenges:
CD Sunday - Love Is In The Air
Creative Cowgirls - Love Is In The Air
Crazy 4 Challenges - Vintage or Shabby Chic
Marks Finest Papers - Valentine Card
Fussy and Fancy - Valentine no red/pink
Mami Doodles - Magic of Love
Charisma Cardz - Valentine/Love
Delightful Challenges - include a Heart on project
Meljens Designs - Something with Hearts
Fab 'n' Funky - use a Digi
Stampavie and More - Love

* * * * *

Another fun creation I made this weekend is this "Little Queen Anne" pyramid card.  The pyramid sheet is from Nicecrane Designs and is a NEW RELEASE.  If you haven't checked out what Ignacio has in his store ... you are really missing something AMAZING ... especially if you are a lover of Vintage!

I have used this week's sketch from Card Patterns for my layout and the designer paper is from the DCWV Far East booklet.  Zva gem swirls were used as an accent as well as satin ribbon from Michaels.

I hear a lot of ladies 'gasp' when they see these sheets and think they CAN'T do this ... well it's really not as hard as it looks and in fact, once you've done ONE ... you'll want to do MORE and Ignacio has a VARIETY of  pyramid sheet sets for you to choose from.  Come On!  Give it a try ... they really have that WOW factor when you share them with friends & family!!

Okay ... must go for now.  They are calling for MORE SNOW & ICE over the next couple of days so I'd better get errands run so I can HIDE OUT in my crafting cave and wait out the storm!!

Have a wonderful day and THANKS SO MUCH for stopping by today!
Hugs to you!

A couple challenge cards to share with you today . . .

. . . for Sugar Creek Hollow and Pattie's Creations.

Happy Sunday Everyone!  I hope it's WARM where you are ... it sure is COLD ... Brrrr ... here in N.E. Ohio.  We are in the 'single digits' and it's snowing again!  My battle cry these days is "come on springtime"!  LOL   Anyways, onto today's challenge cards.

First is a card I did for the Splash of Color challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow.  What a fun challenge ... won't you come join us??

The recipe for this card is:
Paper: Powder Blue, White, Black cardstock
Accessories: Prima flowers, Deco Art Glamour Dust,
Quickie Glue, White Gelly Roll Pen, Black fine tip marker
Technique:  Faux Stitching

Other challenges this card qualifies for are:
Pattie's Creations - color challenge PLUS digi
Challenge Up Your Life - Clean & Simple
Mami Doodles - Mostly Blue

* * * * *

Secondly is a card I created using a digi image from PattieG.  Her challenge (as you can see above) is also to use Black & White + one other color . . . but this challenge has a twist ... use a digi image.  Well, I got a little carried away with my coloring (oops, old age ... forgot what I was doing, LOL) and used more than one accent color ... oh well, I'm still going to share it with Pattie and label the plus color as "springtime color".  I know that's cheating but I like how the card came together.

The recipe for this card is:
Image:  Pattie G Creations
Paper:  Apricot, Black, White cardstocks
Accessories:  Prismacolor markers, SU photo corner punch,
Martha Stewart butterfly punch, White Gelly Roll Pen,
SU Crystal Effects, Sentiment stamp and Versafine black ink

Other challenges this card qualifies for are:
Fairy Fun Fridays - Happy Birthday
Fairy Tale - Flowers
Digi Doodle Shop's Best - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for your visit today and I hope you enjoyed my creations!  Stay warm out there and have a great day!
Big football game on for us today!  GO STEELERS!!!

Darlene

Let It Snow . . .

 . . . so I can keep playing!  LOL!

When I snows, I just stay in where it's warm and get creative!  Well ... there was supposed to be a 'clipper system' come through Ohio today so I was all ready to craft!  (Snow hasn't happened yet!) But I was in the crafting cave and couldn't see outside so I just kept playing . . . LOL . . . here's what I have for you today.
First is a challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow.  I know ... I just showed you last week's card ... but I was AFRAID of this one so got an early start ... WASN'T AS BAD AS I WAS EXPECTING!  The challenge was to use FABRIC on your creation.  I found this pretty piece of yellow lacy fabric in my stash ... wrapped it around a piece of white cardstock and used it for my background panel.  You really need to take a moment and pop over to see what the DT came up with ... they are AMAZING!!!

The image I have used is from Sugar Creek Hollow and other than coloring & adding a little sparkle with Stampendous Diamond Dots ... this beautiful image can stand on it's own!!  Be sure to check out their store.

* * * * *

My second card today is another Nicecrane Designs Pyramid Twist Digi creation. This particular digi image comes from the Water Babies 3 Collection and is so unique!  I just love these Pyramid digis. If you haven't taken the time to pop over and check these out ... I urge you to do so.  Once you do one ... you'll want to do more!

I've used JoAnn's Whisper Strokes markers for my coloring and you don't need many embellishments with an image like this ... so I have only used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch, a McGill dragonfly punch and finally used this cattail image that I've had colored / cut / sticking up on my station for over a year! Sorry can't remember who this stamp belongs to.

A couple other challenges this card qualifies for are:
Paper Play - Cutie Patootie
Sassy Studio Designs - Something over a year old
(cattail image & punches)

* * * * *

And lastly is a fun easel card using an image by Fairy Knoll offered over on CDAC for the Color Challenge this week.  I thought she was so cute with her little bear that it would work perfectly for a little girls Birthday card.

I have used Making Memories designer paper for my background ... hot pink card stock, Michael's lime green ribbon, Tim Holtz peeled paint & broken china distress inks, Martha Stewart border punch, Royal Lace Heart doily, distresser and Studio 112 pearls.

A few challenges this card qualifies for are:

Fairy Fun Friday - Birthday
Raise the Bar - Child Image
Stamp Man - Distressing
Digi Doodles - Pink & Green
Do You Stack Up - Distress It

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you're having a wonderful start to your weekend!  Time for the BIG PLAYOFF GAME (Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens).  See you later!

Hugs, Darlene

Sugar Creek Hollow Fun

It's STILL snowing here in N.E. Ohio so that means I'm spending a lot of time in my crafting cave playing with ink, paper, digis, markers, lace, pearls ... and anything else I can get my hands on.  SO with that being said, forgive my over abundance of postings over the next couple of days ... I just want to share what I make with you and hopefully pass along some inspiration!

First is a sweet digi image from Sugar Creek Hollow that I picked up over on their group at CDAC. The bird is a stamp from Woodware USA and the sentiment is Inkadinkado.  This beautiful lace is by Wright, pearls by Kaiser and satin ribbon by Offray.  I have colored this pretty digi with Whispers Strokes markers from JoAnn's.

Challenges this card fits are:
Gem of a Challenge - Sketch
Sentiment Sunday - Sentiment and Anything with Wings
Scrappy Frogs - use Sentiment
Gingerloft - Celebration
Aly's Sunday Challenge - Things with Wings
Woodware USA - Hearts

AND

It has been brought to my attention also that there's a wonderful sketch challenge going on over at the Sugar Creek Hollow Blog and you know I can't pass up a sketch challenge!  LOL!!  Unfortunately I don't have many SCH images other than Christmas so I'll be playing the challenge with a different company image.

This sweet bird image is from Crafty Secrets Birds & Blooms Creative Scraps.  I have quadruple matted it to pick up the colors in the image then continued on with this fun sketch.  The items used in this creation are: Making Memories designer paper, flowers are Prima, Kaiser pearls, Martha Stewart doily lace border punch and a SU sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
Hugs,
Darlene
