Making a Scene

Happy Monday ... hope you are off to a great start!
Today I have a couple 'scenery' creations to share with you ... hope you like them.

BELIEVE

This creation began with this adorable "Little Ice Skater" digi image from the "priscillastyles" store.  To me, it appeared she was thinking about wanting to join in the skating but was a little shy and didn't have the confidence.  That was the THOUGHT behind using this Thomas Kinkade "Skater's Pond" stamp as the background.  I simply stamped the image onto my white panel using Versafine Black ink then colored it in with CHALK and  make-up applicators.  I printed the Little Skater image twice ...  once on white paper, then again onto red/white polka dot designer paper.  Using my Fiskars swivel craft knife, I cut out her dress, hair ribbon and skates.  Her hair & body were colored with a Prismacolor Marker - PM72 - Eggshell.  PunchBunch punches were used for the snowflakes and I used Pop Dots for added dimension.

Qualifying Challenges:
House of Gilli - Winter Fun

BEARLY READY FOR WINTER

This card was created with the "LET IT SNOW" challenge over on the Gingerloft Challenge Blog.  The bear image is one of her digi images and I simply colored it with brown CHALK.   My background was made by first punching snowflakes and a moon (circle) from Eclipse Masking material.  I placed them around on my white cardstock then sponged over the entire surface with Tim Holtz Broken China distress ink ... then Faded Jeans distress ink.  A touch of SU More Mustard ink was sponged across the one side of the moon just to soften it a bit.  Not sure it came out exactly as I had it envisioned ... but it's okay.  I've used Pop Dots on the bear as well as a couple snowflakes that I had laying on my workstation that had been leftover from another project.  They were die cut using the Spellbinder Create-a-Flake Three die set.  I haven't added a sentiment yet because I'm not sure how I want to use this card.  Time will tell!

Other Qualifying Challenges:
Victorine Stamps - Anything Goes

I'd like to take a quick moment and thank ALL of you who stop by and an extra Thank You to those who take the time to leave me a comment.  It interests me to hear what you think of my work.
Guess I'd better get dinner started!
Catch you later!
Hugs,
Darlene

Sugar Creek Hollow & Gingerloft

I'm sorry ... I just can't help myself today!!!
I'll try to keep this post short & sweet!!!

I've been on a roll with completing my cards (inside & OUT) and since that's the challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow ... I just HAD to join in!!

This beautiful butterfly is a Sugar Creek Hollow image and you can find it and more HERE.  So you can see the inside of my card, here is another photo.  Please note also that the wings on the butterfly have been cut out & popped up from the original print.

The designer paper I have used is by Making Memories (English Garden) 12x12 pack.  While I was "doing it all" ... I decided to make a matching envelope too ... really completes the package!!  I'll be doing more of this!!

The other card I'd like to share with you is for the Our Furry Friends challenge over on Gingerloft.  I have had this gorgeous bear image colored and laying on my table for WEEKS and when I saw the challenge theme today ... well you understand ... here it is:

My 'woodsy' dp is from DCWV and my only embellishment is Hemp.  I have used CHALK  & a makeup applicator for my coloring.  The inside reads "It's that time of year again!"
Here's a photo with it's matching envelope.  What an easy 'guy' card.  You don't need much when you start with a powerful image like this bear!

Well ... thanks again for taking a peek!  I promise ... NO MORE posts today!  In fact, I really need to go get my errands run before it's time for hubby to come home for dinner ... yikes ... you can sure loose track of time when you start creating!  Have a great day!!

Since I'm "snowed in" . . .

. . . I thought I'd play a few challenges and create a few more Gift Card Holders!  Would you like to see them??  (Remember you can click on any of my image to enlarge the photo for a 'closer' look.)

First is the Crafty Secrets Challenge over on SCS that I happen to be hosting this week.  I've asked the girls to use the color RED in this week's creation.  Could be Christmas ... Valentine's Day ... whatever ... and here's what I've created using this adorable vintage freebie offered by Crafty Secrets.  Doesn't this cute image just 'take you back in time!'

Next is a creation made for the challenge over on Pattie's Creations Design Challenge #8 - Color Inspiration!  You really must check this out ... JenLee does ALL the sewing on the Belly Dancer's costumes that was used as the inspiration for this challenge ... they are amazing!!  I've used Pattie's PattiBoop Cowgirl image for my creation and have picked a few colors from the photo as my inspiration for her cowgirl outfit.  What fun!

Now for those Gift Card Holders I mentioned.  I'm still having fun putting Santa Hats on every *Wink *Wink Ink image in my collection.  Here I've used "Rosie" and "Snowbody" for my holders.  Arent' they just the cutest!!  I'm really enjoying the 'superimposing' of words & images onto other images through my MS Word 2010 software.  I have new Photoshop Elements 9 software but just can't take the time right now to FIGURE IT OUT!!  Anyone have any hints?  PLEASE pass them my way ... it's going to take me all of 2011 to figure it out I'm afraid!!

These next few creations are for the challenges over on CDAC.  You say you're not familiar with CDAC!!!  Well, click on THIS LINK and it will take you to the homepage ... you are missing a TON OF DIGI FUN and a lot of free digis too!

Here's a couple freebies offered in the Freebie Challenge CDAC12.  This cute gingerbread house was offered up by Gingerloft.  This too is a gift card holder and was colored using Prismacolor markers.  Chalk was used for the sky and a touch of glue & Deco Art Glamour Dust for sparkle on the snowy roof.

This country mailbox digi is a  freebie offered by Nettie G's Digital Gems.  I just LOVE the holiday bow around the post ... so reminds me of back home.

Next is this cute "Snowgirl" digi offered by Tiffany Doodles.  I decided to make the theme of this card 'candy canes' and think it turned out really cute!  Afterall, there's not a lot of coloring to be done on a 'snowgirl' so the use of DCWV dp, Michael's ribbon and a touch of sparkle ... dressed this cutie up just perfect for the CDAC Embellishment Challenge #12 being hosted by Tiffany Doodles.

Last ... but not least ... is a creation made for the "Vickie Quickie Challenge" over on the Nana Vic's Group of CDAC.  We were to use one of Nana Vic's images and create a card that would help make her feel better ... she's been under the weather lately.  I just LOVE this "Santa Bunny" and thought it would make her smile!  Plus I just bought the Spellbinder Nestabilities Lacey Circles and wanted to use them as a resting spot for Mr. Santa Bunny to sit in.  What do you think??  Isn't he cute!

OKAY ... I know what was a very long post ... blame it on the SNOW ... I was bored!!  But thanks so much for stopping by and sticking with me through all my fun sharing!  I hope I've inspired you in 'some way' or at least made you smile!

NOW, I really must get my Christmas Cards addressed and in the mail!  YIKES ... I've never been so far behind ... is that a sign or old age or just lazy??  LOL!!   Have a happy, fun-filled, safe day my friends ... see you later!

HUGS,
Darlene
