Tropical CAS

 Hello Friends ...

I've been busy the last few days working on my DT commitments but decided to take a break today and play along in a challenge I spotted that I thought looked like fun.  Since CAS (clean & simple) is not my normal genre, I enjoy playing in these challenges to literally 'challenge' myself.

I'm referring to the new challenge over on Addicted to CAS where the theme is TROPICAL.

I remember years ago when my husband & I went to Florida and I saw flamingos for the first time ... I was amazed at their color, beauty and gracefulness.  Then years later going to the tropics I was AMAZED with all the amazingly beautiful birds that you never see in NE Ohio or Western Pennsylvania!

I create the water for my flamingos to stand in with Tombow markers & water.

My flamingos are a die set by Scrap Man (RL-011).

Gosh, I haven't used this Poppystamps 'Stitched Poinsettia Trio' die set in a long time and it worked perfectly for today's card.  I die cut from white card stock then watercolored with an artist brush, water and Tombow markers.  I've used Heartfelt Creations Green Prill for the centers.

I've used an OLD Cheery Lynn Designs 'Holly Flourish'  (B148) for the greenery and my sentiment is from a fun Technique Tuesday stamp set (#SS125) called Inside Out: 12 Cookies.

Double D - Lighthouse

 Hello Dear Friends!

It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!
Diane is our host today and her theme of choice is:

LIGHTHOUSE

and here's an inspiration board she has created to help get you started . . .

Today, I have used a very old wooden block stamp from a company called
Stamps Happen, Inc. (I don't see where they are still in business)
and I've watercolored my stamped image using Tombow markers.

By googling, I see this stamp is still available on Etsy.

Lighthouse Used Rubberstamp View all photos 80158 Stamps Happen

After coloring, I decided to die cut it using the Memory Box
'Wrapped Stitched Frames' (#30117) and then adhered
it to my deep navy blue card base (though it looks black in the photo).

A little doodling on the edges and my card is complete.

I hope you've found inspiration from today's creation!
The prize that you'll be playing for this time around is:

Remember, it's a random draw for the winner so it could be YOU!!

Four Seasons Challenge - Summer

Hello Friends

Over at the Four Seasons Challenge Blog,
our theme this month is . . .

Anything Goes - SUMMER

check out this fabulous inspiration board Diane has created to help inspire you . . .

Today, I was inspired by the 'beverage' in the upper right corner of our mood board.  I knew I had a stamp & die set that would work perfect and even though it took me forever to locate it again (that tells me I have way too many goodies to play with lol), I did find it and got busy stamping, die cutting, coloring & creating.  Here is my '1st draft'

... but after looking at it for awhile, I didn't like it ... just looked 'EMPTY' so I went back to the drawing board and added the 'hut type roof panel' (strip of white scrap card stock inked with TH Brushed Corduroy Distress ink then snipped with scissors) as well as creating the ocean/sand onto the white panel beneath the drinks using a torn piece of white scrap card stock then used Tombow markers, water and a fine artist brush for the coloring.

THEN I decided the drinks need a little more realism and added some crystal effects ...

THERE ... that's more like it!!  LOL

If you haven't checked out our new FOUR SEASONS CHALLENGE BLOG (a monthly seasonal themed challenge) yet, PLEASE pop over and join in the fun.  And don't forget our latest challenge blog adventures ...
