SQUIGGLEFLY Time . . .

Happy Monday Everyone!

It's with great sadness that I'm sharing my LAST creation as a Squigglefly DT Member with you today.  My time with Squigglefly has been wonderful and if you are looking for a very well organized, fun DT to be a part of, let me know and I will lead you to the right people to talk to!!!  Thanks so much Holly for the opportunity to create with these wonderful images and to be a part of such a amazing group of talented ladies!

Today Kim has asked us to create a Gift Card Holder and I knew immediately which image I would use.  I just LOVE this Kris Kringle image by Marla Shega. I thought the Basic Grey "Jovial" designer paper would be the perfect match with this awesome digi image.

The scrap piece of plaid paper left from my creation worked perfectly on the envelope flap.

Sorry for the blurriness of this last photo but hopefully you can see it well enough to know that it's a very easy design for gift card giving.  A couple months ago I had the tutorial on my blog for making these gift card holders but to save you have to bounce back to that posting, here is the 'short version'.

  • Using a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock, cut at 4" which will give you THREE stripes to be turned into holders.
  • Score at 5" and 10" ... the 2" end will get folded inward (to make the gift card pocket) and the 5" fold will make the front of your card.
  • After tacking down the top/bottom of the gift card holder panel (using a strong adhesive, like Redline or Scoretape) you can decorate both the front of the card and the gift card pocket panel to your liking.

I hope you enjoyed my creation and please be sure to hop over to the challenge blog and check out the amazing creations by my team mates.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I MADE IT SAFELY . . .

In my last posting I was trying to decide if I should risk driving in the oncoming snow storm to my daughter's house (an hour away) for a Christmas Cookie Exchange!  Well I decided I would go but not stay long and get back before it got dark and the roads got any worse.

I'm so glad I went ... what a wonderful group of girls and look at all these awesome goodies!!  This is the best way to end up with 12 dozen various holiday cookies without ALL the work!

With the weather being bad, Carolyn decided to 'divi' up the goodies first then we could sit around the table ... sample all the goodies and chit-chat.  This worked out perfectly because for a couple of us who came the furthest, when we needed to leave everything was packaged & ready to go.

Here's the cookie makers ...
Grandson, Jonathan was sweet enough to snap a few photos for us (thanks Jon!).  Yep, that's me on the right side of the photo in the 'Christmas Cookie Shirt' ... how appropriate, huh??

Thanks again to daughter, Carolyn for organizing this get together and for being such a wonderful, gracious hostess!  I hope we can do this again next year!!

A *Wink *Wink Ink Christmas Card

Well it's 'cookie exchange' day at my daughter's and I'm hoping the snow will hold off until I get down there and back!  Oh no ... as I say that I look out the door and see that the rain has changed to snow!  Aaawww ... I might not make it!  Darn!!

Either way, I wanted to share this quick card with you I made this morning using one of my favorite *Wink *Wink Ink images.  I just love this deer and Santa hat ... then when you put them together ... how cute is this!!  (If I do say so myself!!)
I have used Windows 7 - Microsoft Word 2010 to superimpose the hats onto my little deer herd.  It's really not that difficult  ... now if I could just figure out how to use my new Photoshop Elements 9 as easily!!  Anyone have helpful hints or links to learn that software?? Please leave me a comment passing them on ... I can use all the help I can get!!

Back to my card . . .  The deer images are PRE-COLORED ... one of the perks of purchasing a *Wink *Wink Ink digi set!  I've used Paper Studio dp, punched a fence with the Martha Stewart fence border punch from brown cs and added MS snowflakes.  I've also added a touch of sparkle on the Santa hats using glue & Deco Art Glamour Dust.

Here are some challenges my card qualifies for:

Stamp Something - December Digi Days
Craft Your Days Away - Punch It Out
Ellephantastic Challenge - Winter/Christmas
Our Daily Bread - Christmas Inspiration
Totally Gorjuss - Snow
Daring Cardmakers - Snow Much More
Digi's With Attitude - Anything Goes
Mami Doodles - Anything Goes
Wags 'n Whiskers - Snowflakes

The snow is still falling but luckily the temperature is staying up at the moment ... oh dear ... decisions, decisions!!  What to do!!

Have a great day in whatever you might be doing!!  Hugs to you all and thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Cards from Ads . . .

I just had to share this card with you!
Here's the story behind this beauty . . .

A few weeks ago, in our daily mail delivery was my Birds & Blooms magazine and inside the cover were several ADS (as you find in all magazines).  My husband goes through all the mail and when he saw this AD for family subscriptions ... he handed it to me and said  ... "here, you can probably make a card out of this".

Well, after it laid on my worktable for several days I finally decided yesterday to see what I could do with it!  NOW, I wished I had taken a photo of this black & white AD before I touched it up with Prismacolor markers and added Deco Art Glamour Dust for sparkle.  I'm really glad Mark handed this AD to me ... it certainly made a really pretty holiday card.

Who ever said 'you can find inspiration everywhere' knew what they were talking about!

BIG SNOW STORM coming ... guess where I'll be hiding out???  Yep, you got it ... crafting cave here I come!!

The background paper on this creation is Paper Studio and the snowflakes are Martha Stewart.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to your weekend!  Time is running out ... do you have your cards in the mail?  shopping done?  baking done?  Not to worry ... me either!!  LOL!!

I'm running out of time but I so wanted to participate in a couple of current challenges . . . so that's what I have to share with you this afternoon!
First of all ... this is the LAST DAY to enter into the challenge at Joan's Gardens using Heartfelt Creations images.  There are some AMAZING prizes available so be sure to stop over, check it out and get your creation uploaded.

Secondly, is a challenge going on over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge was a recipe ... use a RIBBON & THREE EMBELLISHMENTS.  The image I have used is one of Pattie's own ... isn't this gift package awesome!!  So much fun to color!  I've used Prismacolor markers for my coloring and added Diamond Stickles to the dots and Crystal Effects to the ribbon/bow.  The lower panel is actually TWO ribbons ... red satin and holiday plaid beneath the THREE MS snowflakes.
(Close up to show sparkle &  shine)

Now I have errands to run and I'm running out of time (again!  LOL!)  Seems to be my theme song lately!  LOL!!  Have a great day and keep smiling ... it will make someone wonder what you're up to!!

Crafty Secrets - Music In The Air Challenge

Today over on the Crafty Secrets Forum of SCS, Lori Lynn has challenged us to use MUSIC in our creations.  Of course you are to use MUSIC along with any Crafty Secrets / Heartwarming Vintage products.
After finding this adorable image in the Crafty Secrets Christmas Image & Journal Notes Booklet, I decided to add the 'lyrics' to the song I think they might be singing by using a few of the stamps from the Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas Large Stamp Set.  I just LOVE that set ... it's my favorite!  The holly is also a stamp in that set and I have used Prismacolor markers to color them in.  The background paper is  Basic Grey Jovial designer paper and the doily is from JoAnn's ... found in the Wilton Cake Decorating section.  I've also added a few 'sprigs' of green by using a Martha Stewart punch.

It's still snowing here in N.E. Ohio U.S.A. ... we probably have 5-6" on the ground and it's supposed to snow ALL DAY again today!  Guess I'll be firing up the snowblower for the first time this year later in the day!!  But for now ... I'm headed to my crafting cave ... putting on Christmas Music ... and absorbing myself in paper & ink!!

Have a wonderful day!  Hugs to you!

Don't you just LOVE ...

 . . . holiday time!! ?? !!

What a fun-fabulous weekend I have had!  Didn't have anytime for crafting but welcomed &enjoyed a visit from granddaughter, Morgan ... and ... friends from the 'old neighborhood in Toledo'!

Morgan called on Friday and asked if she could come pay a visit and stay the night!  Of course, I was glad she had the time from college to visit and could certainly use the help with decorating the tree & house before our friends from Toledo came to visit for the weekend.

She and her grandfather got the 1000+ twinkle lights positioned on the tree then helped us decorate our tree with the so many ornaments that hold special memories from friends & family members of the past.  We have ornaments that had adorned not only my childhood tree ... but Mark's as well.  Plus we have so many 'special' ornaments that have been gifted to us over the years and each year we relive those relationships & times in our lives.

Of course you can't trim the tree without having Christmas music flowing through the air.  This year we opted to watch/listen to the movie "Polar Express" while trimming the tree!  So much FUN and SO LOUD!!  Mark has a great speaker system and when the train was coming ... you really thought it was coming right through the livingroom!  LOL!!
Although this photo is a little blurry ... can you see Morgan peeking around from behind the tree (and sticking out her tonque?  LOL) ... this is our 'college student' ... God Love Her!!

Then Saturday came and our friends, Mark & Nancy Beelman, came to visit.  They were our neighbors when we lived in Toledo, OH (7 years ago) and we have stayed in touch and try to visit each other a few times a year.
This couple certainly knows how to enjoy life and have become very dear friends!  We ALWAYS have such a good time with them and this weekend was no exception!

I hope you too had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to spending time with friends & family over the next few weeks!  We certainly are blessed this year to have Mark healthy again and able to have friends in to visit and celebrate life with!!

Crafting will begin again tomorrow ... I hope you'll stop back to see what I'll have to share with you!!  HUGS TO YOU ALL!!

Playing with paper . . .

Today I'm playing with designer papers and Crafty Secrets Christmas booklet images.  My friend Cheryl over at STAMP-BY-STEP asked for a few holiday creations to showcase on her website so these are created for her.  Speaking of STAMP-BY-STEP ... did you see the December Special she's running?   YEP ... 10% OFF your entire purchase!  Perfect for this time of the year ... keep watching her site ... she's always got great sales offered to help you in your crafting purchase needs.

These creations use the Basic Grey "Jovial"   designer paper and Crafty Secrets Christmas Booklet images.  I've used the Martha Stewart icicle border punch on my first card as well as added Deco Art Glamour Dust to the snow ... for a little added holiday sparkle.
My second card is an easy gate card creation.  The only additions to this beautiful image are the MS snowflake punch and some gold Stickles.

Lastly is these lovely ladies and LOTS of snowmen!  To adorn this simply matted CS image, I have used two MS border punches (added a little green to the pine trees in the bottom punch) and a new MS snowflake punch I recently purchased!  Love these delicate snowflakes.  With a touch of Diamond Stickles & Art Deco Glamour Dust for sparkle ... this creation is complete!!

Have a great day everyone and please remember to check out Cheryl's Sale!!

Still making Christmas Cards . . .

Good Evening Everyone!  I'm still working on my Christmas cards and I decided to use the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #84 for this creation.  I chose the FANCY sketch and I took the easy route by using ONLY Graphic45 designer paper.  In fact, the focus image is actually from the flip side of one of the sheets ... how cool is that!!

If you haven't been over to MMSC ... PLEASE do yourself a favor and click on the links I have provided!  This is an amazing challenge blog with the most inspiring DT creations I've seen anywhere and you'll want to be a part of it I'm sure!!

Well ... I've spent most of the day cleaning & decorating!  Actually got a lot accomplished ... which is a good thing since I have out of town guests coming for the weekend.  NOW if I could only get DH to put the lights on the tree (which has been standing in the corner NAKED all week) ... I could get it decorated and be  one step closer to where I had hoped to be before their arrival!  LOL!  Maybe tomorrow!  I HOPE!!  LOL!!

HUGS TO YOU ALL!

Those designers involved in the hop are as follows:

I have made TWO creations for today's HOP using Heartfelt Creations stamps & dies.

Products used on this creation are as follows:

HCPC3303 - Posey Patch Stamp Set
HCD701 - Posey Patch Diecuts
HCPC3308 - Agape Love Set
HCPC3323 - Large Elegant Word Background Stamp

After stamping & diecutting my flowers, I spray them with Memory Mist and twisted the petals using my tweezers.  They are wet from the spray so bend/twist easily.  Then I've added Stampendous Diamond Dots for the centers and Martha Stewart prones punched from garden green paper for the leaves.  Tim  Holtz Ranger Vintage Photo Distress ink was used for my distressing.

For my second card, I have used one of the stamps from the HCPC3303 Posey Patch Stamp set to create my background paper.  I've simply stamped it onto the red paper with Versamark and embossed it with silver embossing powder.  For added sparkle, I've added Diamond Stickles to the centers.

My flowers were created as described above on my first card ... except I twisted them a little tighter and used more layers.  The sentiment is from the HCPC3308 Agape Love Set and after cutting around it with a swivel craft knife, I've matted it in black and cut around again.  The topper was created with the Martha Stewart floral vine border punch and a panel of Offray black satin ribbon gave it a little dimension.

BONUS:

ONE LUCKY COMMENTER on my blog for this hop will receive this Heartfelt Creations POSEY PATCH PRECUT SET.

SORRY FOR THE LENGTHY POST ... BUT ...  Believe me when I say this . . . you are not going to want to miss out in participating in this challenge for a chance to win such an amazing prize package. Also, be sure to comment on each of the twelve blogs in the blog hop for a chance to win an additional prize package from Joan's Gardens.

GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!!!   I can't wait to see your creation!

SQUIGGLEFLY CHALLENGE TIME . . .

Happy Monday Everyone!
I hope you had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving weekend!
I know I did + we celebrated our 16th Wedding Anniversary yesterday!
Oh where has the time gone??

Now onto my Squigglefly Challenge creation!  Today Kim has us creating a Christmas Tag in Non-Christmas Colors!  Now I must admit, this was a definite challenge for me but then I decided on pink & purple.  This adorable Inger Harding image is called Old Fashioned Christmas Girl and can be found HERE if you'd like to have your own!

The designer paper is from the Basic Grey "Jovial" 8x8 paper pack and I have used Offray purple organza ribbon (although in the photo it looks black).  The back of the tag simply states:  To: and From:

Please pop over to the Challenge Blog to see the wonderful inspirational pieces created by my team mates.  Don't forget to pop on over to the STORE and check out the new releases too.
