Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge

My stretch as May's Guest Designer at Sassy Studio Designs is drawing to a quick close and I will certainly miss this talented group of crafters!  I've drawn so much inspiration from each and every one of them!!  But before I go (and, I will have one more fun creation for you tomorrow), I'm having fun creating for the challenge going on right now over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog of which SSD is the sponsor.  Their challenge this week is to make a JOY-FOLD card.  WELL ... I haven't made one of these in a very long time so had great fun doing it!
AND ... I did a little more PAPER PIECING too!

The image I used on today's creation is called "Professor S (Sassy)" and I think I'll keep it for my sister's birthday on June 10th.  She is a hair dresser and definitely a 'fashionista' so I think she'll really appreciate this fun card.   She is 60-something going on 30!  LOL!

Here's a peek at the inside of my card ... yep, I'm still trying to keep up with my New Years resolution and so far so good!  Although I see I do have a few cards laying on my table that appear to be BLANK on the inside ... Oooops!  Need to do something about that!!!!!!

A few other challenges:
Artistic Inspirations - Paper Piercing/Piecing
 Creative Creations - Paper Piecing
Digi Makeover #90 - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes
Challenges 4 Everybody #21 - Anything Goes
Joanna Sheen - Girls, Girls, Girls

Remember, there is a new Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge coming up tomorrow and I hope you'll come join in the fun!  Have a fabulous day and thanks so much for stopping by!
As always . . .

Recipe for this creation:

Papers:  Basic Grey 'Two Scoops' dp, white cs, mint green cs
Stamps/Ink:  Stamping Sensations (inside verse), Impression Obsession (outside verse), Versafine Onyx
Accessories:  Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, Tim Holtz marker for doodling, Fiskars swivel craft knife
Techniques:  Paper Piecing ... Doddling ... Joy Fold

GIVING THANKS

And, we are thankful to have not ONE but TWO sponsors this challenge.

and

The team has split up in using their images so you get a taste of both company styles.

The background paper is from the Cloud9 Designs holiday pack and the words also come from a sheet of designer paper from the same pack.  The acorns were made using the Spellbinder Fall Leaves die set and brown cardstock.

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

We are honored to have two sponsors today ...

AND

I have used a Digi Darla image for my creation today.  Hope you like it.

I have used Prismacolor Markers for the coloring on this cute image and the designer paper is from Cloud9 Designs.  The Trick or Treat ribbon has been in my stash for YEARS and I thought it was the only touch this adorable image needed.  A little black ink to paper around the outside edge helped give it a more eeeeery feeling and viola!  Halloween card complete!

Please come over to our Challenge Blog and see the fabulous creations shared by my team mates.  THEN ... come join in the fun!  We'll keep a light on for ya!

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge

Today over on Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog ... Courtney has challenged us to an

INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO CHALLENGE

Here is the photo image for our inspiration ...

Is this cool or what?!?  BE SURE you pop over to the PPCC Blog today and check out what amazingly creative works were done by the design team.  It's always so much fun to see how DIFFERENTLY people interpret the same image ... today is no different ... YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Here's what I came up with ...

Obviously, my eye was drawn to the COLORS and that was the basis for my card.  Besides that, our sponsor today is none other than Stef Hughes

and I just loved her butterfly digi and the colors were perfect!  In my stash I found this little tag (7Gypsies) with colors that matched so of course I had to incorporate it somewhere on my card! PURPLE Stickles were used on the wings (Just for you Stef) and a little faux stitching was added on the tag for dimension.

PLEASE come join in the fun!!  I can't wait to see YOUR INTERPRETATION of this photo!  Have fun with it!!

Hugs,
Darlene

It's ALTER time at PPCC . . .

WOW ... is it Wednesday already?

Yes it is and it's time for a new challenge over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog.  Today we are ALTERING things ... what ever strikes your fancy ... works for us!  I recently learned how to alter a TABLET so that is what I have to share with you today!

This is your average 5x8 lined tablet (purchased at Staples 12 pk for $7.29).  You can either get the yellow lined paper or white ... I chose white.

Here's a quick step tutorial on how to make this:

1.  Cut your BASE cardstock 5" x 9 1/4" ... this allows for the 8" front, 1/4" top and 1" over the back.

2.  Score at 1", 1-1/4" and 2 1/4" ... this allows for an inch on the back, front and the 1/4" top.  Making it possible for you to FLIP the top panel properly to utilize the tablet.

3.  Use a strong adhesive to adhere the back, top & front of your 'cover' to the top panels of your tablet.  Of course, be sure to measure your tablet in case the measurements are slightly different from mine.

4.  Now the fun part ... create & embellish to your liking for whatever occasion or color scheme you desire.
I decided to make this one for my girlfriends office.  She loves flowers so I made these homemade flowers (another day tutorial) using the PunchBunch Dahlia punch and Tim Holtz distress inks.
What a fun project ... I'll be making more of these to sell at this years craft show at the local high school in the fall.  The front cover ideas are ENDLESS!
NOW ... it's your turn!  Our challenge runs for 2 weeks, so you have plenty of time to go ALTER CRAZY!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Our sponsor this week is:

Please be sure to pop on over to Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog for all the details and to enter your altered creation!  I look forward to being 'inspired' by you all!  Happy Day!

Summertime Fun . . .

. . . at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge.  That's right ... we are celebrating the onset of SUMMERTIME and we hope you'll come join in the fun!
 (detail close-up)

As a young girl, my sister's and I spent countless hours swinging and see-sawing in the playground our father had created for us.  Our swings were made from the trees in our woods that my father cut down, stripped and connected together with 3 rope swings.  That swing had to be 15 feet high and you could swing W-A-Y out into the sky!  (I can't believe we didn't get hurt, now that I look back!) But that's life in the country and you played as hard as you worked!

Today's challenge sponsor is Whiff of Joy.
Please check the PPCC blog for all winner details.

Details for my creation are as follows:
Stamps:  Elisabeth Bell (Rope Swing) Sugar Nellies, Art Impressions (sentiment)
Papers: Paper Pizazz dp, white, black, pink & lavender card stock
Ink:  Versafine black
Accessories:  Offray lavender grosgrain ribbon, Spellbinder classic & scallop oval dies, Martha Stewart lacy butterfly punch, Kaiser pearls, Bow Easy, Deco Art Glamour Dust, Fiskars scallop border punch

Thanks so much for your visit and comments.  I appreciate both!  Enjoy your day ... in whatever you do!

Hugs,
Darlene

EASTER creation fun . . .

Happy Wednesday!

Today I have two challenge cards to share with you and they are both celebrating EASTER.

First is the challenge over at The Sisterhood.  Tanis is our hostess today and we are celebrating the Easter holiday.  Our sponsor this challenge is AmberInk and the adorable images (Love Bunny Collection) on my card, as well as the background paper, are both from AmberInk.  AmberInk is offering one lucky winner a $15 Gift Certificate.

My only additions to these wonderful AmberInk products are the homemade sentiment tag and the hot pink satin ribbon from Michaels.  I colored my images with Prismacolor markers then cut them out with a Fiskars swivel craft knife.  Faux stitching was also done on the homemade tag for extra dimension.  Hope you like it!

Please be sure to pop on over to our challenge blog for MORE EASTER inspiration from my 'DT Sistahs'.

Other Challenges:
The Crazy Challenge #62 - Easter
 OLLCB #77 - Easter
 Pollycraft Monday - Easter
Creative Inspiration - Easter

The second challenge card I have to share with you today is for the Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge.  Like I already mentioned, we at Penny's are also celebrating EASTER and are thrilled to have LOTV (Lili of the Valley) as our sponsor this challenge.

(please click on image to enlarge)

The design team LOVED these little bunnies as you will see when you pop over to the challenge blog for more inspiration and to play along!  For this creation I've used scraps of designer paper (Paper Pizazz I believe) for my background panels, faux stitching was created with a pink Prismacolor marker, those same markers were used for the coloring of my image with the exception of the sky which was created with blue chalk and a makeup applicator.  The silk flowers in the corner were purchase in the wedding section of Pat Catan's (an Ohio based crafting store).

Other Challenges:
Die Cut Dreams - Easter
The Pink Elephant - Easter
Stamps R Us - Easter
Aly's Sunday Challenge - Hippity Hoppity Bunnies

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge

WOW ... can you believe March is nearly over??  The kids will be out of school for the summer before you know it!  (Ooops probably shouldn't have brought that up!  LOL!)

Today I'd like to share with you the creations I made for Penny's Challenge.  I actually made a Boo-Boo and created from an older description sheet . . . the challenge theme had changed and I didn't catch it ... BUT ALL IS GOOD ... it turns out my creations still follow today's challenge theme which is

RECIPE
1 image, 2 embellishments & 3 designer papers

and is being sponsored by:

When I thought the challenge was to ALTER an item, I decided to make altered composition books for the two little girls next door.  Hence, my creations below . . .

As I stated, it turned out okay because both books have ONE image, TWO embellishments and counting the back & inside covers, there are THREE designer papers used on each book.  (shew ... bet I couldn't do that again!  LOL)

Please be sure to pop over to our Challenge Blog and check out the inspirational creations from the Design Team and then join in the fun!!  I look forward to seeing what you create!

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Darlene
