Sunshine Yellow on a beautiful Saturday!

Happy Weekend my Friends!

What a beautiful sunshiny day!!  My friend Diane (Nellie's Nest) and I were chatting this morning via Yahoo Messenger and it seems her mojo has 'left the building' ... so she was looking through a few challenges in hopes of finding one that sparked her interest and was sharing them with me along the way.
One of those challenges was a new challenge blog to me and since I'm working on some thank you cards for my granddaughter, Morgan to give to the doctors/nurses at Cleveland Clinic on Monday this sketch challenge peeked MY INTEREST!! The challenge blog I'm referring to is called SEIZE THE SKETCH and here's what I came up with.

This sketch made for such a quick & easy card!
I've used a sheet of Graph45 6x6 Secret Gardens 'Patterns & Solids' design paper for basically the entire card.  It's 2 sided so I used the print for the background and the opposite solid side for my sentiment panel.  My background oval are Memory Box Dies 'Tiffany Frame' #98401 and 'Cherise' #98402.  Both cut from scraps of white card stock.  The Darice yellow gingham ribbon (bow made with Craft-dee Bowz tool) and Kaiser pearls were the perfect finishing touches.

A few challenges to share in:
C.R.A.F.T. Challenges - Thank You
Craft-dee Bowz June Challenge - Anything Goes with a handmade bow
Crafty Ribbons #95 Challenge - Stitching real or fake + ribbon

I need to get back to making a few more thank you cards for Morgan, but before I do, I thought I'd share a few photos of my new landscaping/plantings.  I wish I had taken some before photos ... you would really understand why I needed to have some guys come in to help me!  LOL!

Along the side of the garage, between the ground cover and the morning glories, everything else I had there was being choked out so I had the guys tear everything out and started anew!  It won't take long for this to fill in ...
Knock out roses, Black-eyed Susans, Foxgloves and Beebalm in the middle.

This section had overgrown so much in the past couple of years, so I had them move the Red Twig up closer to the light pool and planed a delphinium where the red twig had been.  Do you see the sunflower (bottom left corner)?  That was planted by the birds so I told them to just leave it there ... I want to see what it does!  LOL

On this side I had to replant a hosta, a knock-out rose bush and 3 lavenders that I lost over the winter.  But I must admit, I was amazed that the spider-wert (in front of the tree/behind the rock) came up so well.  A friend gave it to me so I planted it there last fall and totally forgot I had!
LOVE my pots of wave petunias on the porch ... they are always so SHOWY!!

I also lost one of my lilac bushes over the winter.  So I had the guys dig that out too, but kept the other one in hopes that it will do okay by itself.  I planted a 'dinner plate dalia' in the spot where the lilac had been.  Not sure how it will do either but it looks good for now.  BEAUTIFUL flowers on it!

Lastly ... isn't this variegated lily gorgeous?
Hubby spotted it at the nursery so of course I had to find a spot for it!  I know it won't bloom for long but hopefully it will like it's location and come back next year.

okay ... NOW I really must get back to work!  LOL!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!

Diane said... your pretty yellow card...of course yellow is my favorite color...but I love how that gorgeous paper really show cases the rest of the design,,,and thanks for the "plug" still intend to do this sketch myself and you have even inspired me more to get to it!! Well you know how I love gardens and flowers, so I want to say, this is beautiful...I need to get the nerve to rethink my mass of flower gardens and dig and move and "might" have given me the courage to do so when and if I ever get over my falling down the annoying as I have NO patients for such things...have fun creating...oh and can I come and sit on your porch among your Petunias and drink some "tea"???

Thanks Diane! YOU BET ... you can come and visit ANYTIME! See that bench on the porch? There's room for 2 and if it gets too warm on the front ... we'll go sit on the back deck ... wait till you see all the petunias out there! LOL! Thanks for your encouragement and kind words!

Wow! Gorgeous plantings Darlene! Right now it is just too hot and humid down here in TX to get out in the yard and do anything. Luckily we have been getting a little of the "wet stuff", so if any of the garden blooms, it will be nice. I have a Sago Palm that a previous owner planted too close to the sidewalk, and it "scars" visitors who come down the walk with it's prickly fronds. Would like to move it, but that would be quite an undertaking. (would need help)

I almost forgot to mention how much I love your card. The yellow-ness of it is amazing and so bright and cheery. I also love the gingham ribbon. Have a great day, and rest of the weekend. I love your pictures.
