Today
I was playing around with my Gelatos trying to create some background panels. Then I thought "wouldn't it be fun to add a little 3D effect to my cards."
There are so many dies you could use to create this effect ... my brain was swirling around a number of fun ideas and this is what I came up with.
What's your thoughts?? Tell me what YOU would have used ... I could use some helpful hints! LOL!
Here's the Technique I used:
First, I simply scribbled purple and blue Gelatos onto a piece of white card
stock, spritz with water then smeared it around with my finger. With
another piece of white card stock I die cut the oval with my Spellbinder Classic Ovals die. Once the colored panel was dry, I adhered the two together around the outer edge.
Next, I die cut my Impression Obsession 'Bird on a Branch' #DIE161
from garden green card stock and the bird portion of the die AGAIN from a scrap of blue
card stock. I glued the blue bird on top of the base (green) bird and
colored in the legs/created an eye with a black marker. Small pieces of
3d foam tape was used behind the bird and some of the outer leaves for
dimension. My butterfly is from the Cheery Lynn Designs 'Exotic Butterflies Small' #DL113.
The ribbon was a free piece that came with my first order at Really Reasonable Ribbon and I used my Craft-Dee Bowz bow making tool to create my bow. A little 'faux' stitching with a white Gelly Roll pen was all that was needed to finish off my design.

On the inside of my card I used the 'scrap piece' that was die cut from my card front panel using the Spellbinder Classic Oval for my sentiment. I used a coordinating marker to do the dots around the outer edge and added a Memory Box 'Vivienne Butterfly' #98265.
Since
I was playing around I decided to make a second card for you today
using the same Gelatos background technique. This time I used the same purple & blue Gelatos but also added a small amount from a Gold Gelato. This card was REALLY a quick
and easy creation. I die cut this fabulous Die-Mensions 'Ornate Birthday Balloons' #DME-030
sentiment, colored in the balloon with coordinating colors using my
Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, popped up the balloons with 3d form tape
and
VIOLA!
Birthday card ready for the party!!!
It doesn't get much easier than that!!!
