Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge

Today over on Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog ... Courtney has challenged us to an

INSPIRATIONAL PHOTO CHALLENGE

Here is the photo image for our inspiration ...

Is this cool or what?!?  BE SURE you pop over to the PPCC Blog today and check out what amazingly creative works were done by the design team.  It's always so much fun to see how DIFFERENTLY people interpret the same image ... today is no different ... YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Here's what I came up with ...

Obviously, my eye was drawn to the COLORS and that was the basis for my card.  Besides that, our sponsor today is none other than Stef Hughes

and I just loved her butterfly digi and the colors were perfect!  In my stash I found this little tag (7Gypsies) with colors that matched so of course I had to incorporate it somewhere on my card! PURPLE Stickles were used on the wings (Just for you Stef) and a little faux stitching was added on the tag for dimension.

PLEASE come join in the fun!!  I can't wait to see YOUR INTERPRETATION of this photo!  Have fun with it!!

Hugs,
Darlene

Challenge Fun . . .

This is the 6x6 paper I began with for my creation.

For the next two weeks, there's a fabulous challenge going on over at Joan's Gardens ... and Heidi Blankenship is the Guest Designer.  Her inspiration to us this challenge is stamping on designer paper to make your own personalized background paper. You can see what the challenge entails HERE on Heidi's Blog and all the challenge requirements can be found HERE on Joan's Blog.

This was fabulous fun (can't wait to do it again) and here's a list of products used.  Those identified in BOLD were purchased at Joan's Gardens.

Recipe:
Papers - White cardstock for base card, Prima 'Madeline' Collection 6x6 designer paper
Stamps - LaBlanche Bird, Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 'Urban Chic',
Inks - Tim Holtz 'Frayed Burlap' Distress, Memento 'Bamboo Leaves',
Accessories - Prima Vintage Trinket (key),  PKGlitz ultrafine Copper Glitter, Cheery Lynn Designs B117 'Fanciful Flourish',

Why not give this fun technique a try ... then add it to the link HERE ... YOU could be a WINNER!!

*  *  *  *  *  *

Another fun challenge I always participate in is the Crafty Secrets Challenge over on SCS (Splitcoast Stamper).  Today we have Cynthia as a guest hostess and she's asked us to use our Crafty Secrets / Heartwarming Vintage Products along with the color ORANGE for our creations.  The gals are really coming up with some fabulous inspiration and here's what I created using the Crafty Secrets Halloween Images & Journaling Notes Booklet.

The 'lined background with pumpkin head' is actually the bottom portion of this image sheet.  I've added 'googlie eyes' for FUN and the Trick or Treat ribbon is Offray from either JoAnn's or Michaels.

This challenge is always fun!  If you have any Crafty Secrets products ... why not come join us!!  We'd love to have you!!

Well, guess I'd better get some housework done ... Uuuugh!!  Catch you later!  Have a WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Hugs,
Darlene

Fall Workshop at Joan's Gardens

Happy Monday Everyone!
As I mentioned last week, I have been MIA due to being away from home and attending the Fall Workshop  held at Joan's Gardens in North Liberty, Indiana!  WHAT A FABULOUS TIME I HAD!!!   I go out a couple days early to spend a little extra time with Joan ... and help her get things ready for the workshops.  This time she had smaller classes over a 3 day weekend ... and WOW what amazing techniques & products Joan shared with us.

Here is the FRIDAY group of ladies for the workshop (which I attended) ...

and here is the SATURDAY group of ladies.

I headed back to Ohio before the Sunday group arrived so I do not have a photo of those ladies to share with you ... but I'm sure they had just as great a time as we all did.

Here are the projects we created.  Mine are NOT perfect mind you ... but with these samples I can work on perfecting the techniques used and the next cards will be much better.  To see the EXACT cards we were to create, I'm sure Joan will have photos posted early this week. We did THREE projects ...

Some of the products used were Tim Holtz dies & inks, LaBlanche stamps & Specialty Stamping paper, Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 Clearly for Art Modeling Film & Stamps,  Cheery Lynn dies, Marianne embossing folders, Penny Black stamp and Organza fabric.  Many of the products used aren't listed on Joan's blog yet ... but they will be this week and available for you to purchase.  Be sure to check throughout the week to see ALL the new products & papers Joan has arriving that were ordered from CHA back in July!  There are some AWESOME things you won't want to miss having for yourself!

Joan & Selma really outdid themselves on these FABULOUS creations/techniques and I am SO GLAD I was able to attend this workshop!!  Thanks Joan ... hope to be there for the October workshop too!

Okay ... now to get all my STUFF put back where it belongs in my crafting cave and catch up on DT commitments!  Catch you all later ... hope you have a wonderful day!!!

The Sisterhood of Crafter's Challenge

Thanks to everyone who joined in our 'Anniversary' challenge at The Sisterhood last week ... we sure do appreciate your support!  Today, Diane is our hostess and our challenge to you is:

FLOWERS

Over the weekend Ignacio, (Nicecrane Designs) asked me to create a few cards with some of his latest images so I took that opportunity to create a card for today's challenge at the same time.  The image used here is called 'Jumble Book 3' and these little gals were so much fun to 'dress up'.

I used a scrap of designer paper from the K&Co. 'Watercolor Bouquet' 12x12 pack to paper piece the dresses & hair ribbon.  Prismacolor markers were used for the other coloring.

I just recently purchased these prima flowers and love how some of them already have glitter on them!  I added Stampendous diamond dots for the centers.

Challenges:
Designed2Delight - Anything Goes
Card Makin Mamas #27 - Pink
Inspire Me Friday - Anything Goes
Jellypark Challenge - Favorite Embellishment

Now, it's your turn!!  I hope you'll come over to The Sisterhood and share YOUR  flowers creation.  I can't wait to see what you create!!  Remember, it doesn't have to be a card ... it can be any project of your choice!  I could sure use some inspiration in that direction ... so I'm hoping YOU can help me out!!

Have a wonderful day!  I headed out early this morning for another workshop & visit to Joan's Gardens in North Liberty, Indiana and won't be back until Sunday afternoon.  I can't wait to see what Joan has in store for us this time and  I'll be sure to share it with you next week.  It's a 5 hour drive ... but it's so worth it!!  I have such a wonderful time and love seeing all the talented ladies again.  Many are repeat attenders and that just adds to the fun ... just like 'Old Home Week'!

Catch ya Later!

Morgan Family Reunion

This is where it all began!!

This is a photo of MY grandparents back in 1936 with their 12 children (my mother is next to the youngest).  Starting in the early 1940's, the Morgan family began having FAMILY REUNIONS and they have continued on till today.  In fact, for the past 24 years, we have turned it into a full weekend event.  With the 42 FIRST COUSINS getting together Friday night & Saturday ... then the ENTIRE family unite on Sunday.  Here are just a few photos from this past weekends Sunday reunion.

Talk about some GOOD EATS!!  YUMMO!!  Unfortunately, we have lost several of the original 12 over the past few years and it was really noticed at this years reunion when it came time for dessert!  NONE of Aunt Sis's pies ... or Aunt Glory's apple cobbler!   Not only do we miss their smiling faces but really didn't realize just how much we would miss their baking!  Looks like some of the younger ones need to STEP UP TO THE BAT and do more baking for next year's reunion!

But there's always plenty of food for all ... and beverages too!  What a wonderful time to catch up with everyone and talk over 'the good old days' while you munch on Corn on the Cob, meatballs, chicken, various salads, etc., etc.

Here is a group photo taken at last years reunion.
Mind you, that's not ALL of us ... just the ones that were available to come!

Cousin Cobbie (Jim's his real name) always provides entertainment for the little ones and this year he went all out!!  The waterslide is their favorite but there were several other blown up ... bounce inside type things to keep them busy too!  Heck, even some of the 'older' kids got inside to cool off & play!

I am so blessed to have such a large, loving family and couldn't wait to share my happy day with you all!  Here's a couple folks that I'm extremely PROUD of ...

Daughter Carolyn in the middle and Grand-daughter Morgan on the right.

And of course, my Mom with gentleman friend Ken.  Mom is 81 and going strong!!  She sings, dances and still holds down a couple part time jobs!  YOU GO GIRL!!!  She says keeping busy helps keep her young!  I hope to have her energy when I'm 81 ... LOL!!

Thanks for letting me share with you today.  I'm busy getting ready for my trip out to Indiana on Wednesday for another fun workshop being held at Joan's Gardens.  I'll be gone from Wed - Sun ... so I have lots to do!  Catch you later!!

Hugs,
Darlene

P.S.  Thought you might enjoy a few other 'FAMILY NAMES' ...
Uncle BOOB (Wilbur)... his wife PERKY (Norma) ... their son NUBBY (Lee)
Uncle HEN (Clyde)
Cousin CORKY (Rose Ann)
Uncle LUCKY (Paul)

I'm sure there are others ... these are just the ones that quickly came to mind!  WHAT FUN!!  Oh, FYI ... my nickname was DOLLY ... but those who called me that are gone now so I don't hear it anymore ... how sad!

Wags 'n Whiskers - Outdoor Fun

Well ... it's almost time for the kiddo's to go back to school so they'd better get outside and enjoy riding their bikes, jumping on the trampoline, swimming ... or whatever they do to have fun!  Speaking of OUTDOOR FUN ... that is what our challenge is all about today!

Isn't this just an adorable image?  Did you ever take your kitty for a ride in the basket of your bike??  I didn't have a kitty ... but my puppy used to love going for a ride around the house!  (we lived in the country ... didn't have sidewalks so we made a path around the house, LOL!)
I created this scene using chalks for the sky & grass ... and a Prismacolor marker for the road.  I took the liberty of adding birds in the sky with a Stampscapes stamp.  My background paper is from Basic Grey.

Challenges:
Art Impressions Stamps #28 - Anything Goes
Craft Us Crazy #15 - Anything Goes
PaperCraftingJourney - Anything Goes
StampInsanity - Anything Goes
Crafts and Me - Blues or Bluegreens
Stampavie and more #149 - Girlie

Come on over to the Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge Blog and join in the fun . . . you know you want to!!  LOL!!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for the visit!!
Hugs,
Darlene

Crafty Secrets Challenge

This week's Crafty Secrets challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers is being hosted by Joanne (Angelnorth) and she asked us to use SQUARES in some manner on our creations.  Here's what I came up with . . .

I am so pleased with the outcome of this card.  I don't do many square cards for one main reason ... it costs more in postage to send them and a lot of the ladies I sell my cards to are 'older' and don't want to pay that extra charge.  However, I do love them and enjoy the extra working surface!

The image on this creation is from the Crafty Secrets 'Little Blessings' Creative Scraps.  If you've not seen these creative scraps ... you really want to check them out.  They are very reasonably priced and they are two sided ... and just ADORABLE!!

Recipe:
Papers:  Cranberry, ivory, pear pizazz & pink cardstock
Accessories:  Martha Stewart doily lace border punch, Wright's lace (Joann's), Stampendous diamond dots,  flowers from Pizazz APlenty, Crafty Secrets Creative Scraps image

Challenges:
DYSU Challenge - Thank You
Craft Us Crazy - Anything Goes
PaperCraftingJourney - Anything Goes
StampInsanity - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Darlene

Today I've used another one of "priscillastyles" adorable images!  I just love this little girl ... it so reminds me of my sister's and I growing up back on the farm in our youth.  We used to catch 'lightening bugs' all the time!!!  What wonderful memories this image bring to mind for me!

I wish I were a better photographer ... The sparkly detail on the lightening bugs wouldn't show up no matter how many different ways I photographed my card!  Ggrrrrrr!  But I'm sure you can visualize it!
I was busy making tissue box covers so had punched out various flowers from the scraps of designer paper laying on my table ... hence the variety of colored flowers & leaves for my embellishments. Can't waste those scraps you know!  LOL!!  Even the butterfly was a corner scrap.

PLEASE come join in the fun at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge ... every Tuesday with a sneak peek at the sketches every Friday prior!  Once you play ... you'll be hooked!  Priscilla offers some amazing prizes from FABULOUS sponsors each week also!!   AND . . . need inspiration??  Check out what my teammates have created today ... they are a VERY TALENTED BUNCH!!!

See ya there!  Thanks for the visit!
Happy Day to you!

TWO MORE for the GUYS

Happy Monday Everyone!  I have SO MANY other things I should be doing ... but after looking through some of the samples over on the Stampscapes Website ... I just had to give this technique a try (my own version of course) and created two more cards using sponging and Stampscape rubber stamps.  What do you think??

I've used various shades of blue for my background sponging ... leaving white space in the center.  Then created my scene using various Stampscape stamps  (four to be exact).  Added ribbon and a sentiment and viola! I really like this technique but I certainly need MORE PRACTICE to get it 'smoother' looking.

For this card, I decided to go outside the box with my colors.  Using various SU and Momento inks for the sponged background.  My scene was created using FIVE different stampscape stamps then I used SU inks and inking nibs to add a little color to the church and trees.  A small sponge pod (looks like a marshmellow) was used to create the evening sun.

I really like the peacefulness created using these stamps.  Hope you like them too!

NOW I really must grab a bite of lunch (way past lunch time) ... and I have a pot roast in the crockpot and it is starting to smell REALLY GOOD!

Catch you all tomorrow for another MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE!!

Have a wonderful day!  Kind of rainy here in NE Ohio ... good day to stay in the 'cave' and play!!  TaTa!
