WOW! Everything is blooming SO EARLY this year!
My crocus & daffodils are already finished blooming and now it's TULIP TIME!
We had new landscaping done last fall and I was so anxious to see where they planted the spring bulbs I provided for them to include in the landscaping. It's been a lot of fun watching them pop out of the ground and look so beautiful in their little groupings. Before it starts raining too hard (calling for rain the next few days) ... I thought I'd grab a few photos.
Also, while mowing the lawn last evening I noticed a few more tulips in bloom at the back of the house. Since no one can really appreciate them back there, I decided to cut them and put them in a vase so we could enjoy them for a few days. I'm sure if we get hard rain it would have knocked a lot of the petals off if left outdoors.
Aren't they just the prettiest thing! As much as I LOVE cut flowers in the house, it's always sad to cut them from the outdoors! I guess I'll just need to plant MORE so I can have them both places without feeling bad about it! LOL!
I didn't plant these tulips ... they were original to the house. If you know me at all, you know I love PURPLE and tend to do a lot of my decorating ... inside & out in that color. Hence the new tulips in the front of the house are in shades of purple ... along with purple lavendar and iris's that are yet to bloom.
In fact, I just might have to invest in purple petunia's this year to adorn the somewhat 'naked' areas in the landscaping. But that will have to wait for awhile ... still too much of a chance for frost here in NE Ohio. Maybe that would be a good Mother's Day gift to myself!!
I love placing the 'wave petunias' in both the planter boxes on the back deck and in large pots at the front of the house ... they bloom all summer long and give such wonderful color.
Well, it seems I've lost track of the time (been in my cave playing with an altering project) ... and I'd better go see what hubby wants for lunch before it turns into dinner time! LOL!
Have a wonderful day/weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!
And, don't forget to TAKE TIME TO SMELL THE FLOWERS!
Hugs,
Darlene
P.S. Just wanted to let you know that my friend Lana & I are at it again! Challenging each other to alter yet another item from the Goodwill! Hopefully we'll be sharing that project with you over the next couple of days! Please stop back!
I keep meaning to get some tulip bulbs. They are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers- I love your beautiful tulips! And, what pretty landscaping!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is gorgeous. Love the tulips.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yard and flowers! I so miss tulips and bearded iris! Too hot in central FL for them! The bulbs turn all mushy! Altered project huh? Now you've piqued my curiosity! I'm working on 2 sets of stacked boxes following plans by Gentleman Jim.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous you have beautiful tulips already. Mine are just beginning to pop up and I'm sure it will be several more weeks before they get tall enough to bloom. I'm like you, I hate to cut them but I do love to have them in the house. Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers with us.
