Challenge time again . . .

. . . with my friend Lana Edwards (Blest With Stamps).

A while back, Lana and I decided to challenge each other to alter the same items that we purchased together at the Goodwill Store.  Well, we are at it again!  Here is the item we have chosen to alter this time around . . .
(more to come ... LOL)

It's a FLAT painted framed mirror that cost us $2.50.

I must admit Lana had hers done (and sold) before I even got around to thinking what to do with mine but with a little 'nudge' from Lana (thanks girlfriend), I got the old brain whirling and this is what I came up with.

SO ... What do you think???

Here are a couple close-ups to help showcase the details on this project.

I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo, but I have used a 2nd sheet of the same designer paper ... cut out the roses and popped them up with pop dots to add dimension to the lower corner of the frame.

I've become addicted to making homemade flowers after attending a few workshops at Joan's Gardens.  One of these days (when I get much better at it) I will share the technique ... but in the meantime, be sure to pop over to Selma's blog (Joan's designer) where she can instruct you on how she makes the most GORGEOUS flowers ever!!!  And, before I forget, I wanted to point out that the 'mirror corner' of the Wilton's paper doily has actually been cut out and positioned directly on the mirror while the remainder of the doily is on the wooden frame.

Here's a list of items used on this creation:

Paper -  Colorbok 12x12 'Rosewood' pattern pack, forest green cs, rose cs
Ink - Memento 'cantaloupe' dye ink
Accessories - K&Co. Flora & Fauna Butterfly Adhesive Chipboard (code # 30-599635), Marianne dies (LR0156 & LR0157), Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish die (B117), Lime Green Stickles, PunchBunch Flower Making Kit, McGill Flower Forming Mat, PunchBunch Begonia punch, PunchBunch Snowflake punch (stamen of flower), 7Gypsies vintage tag, Wilton paper doily, pop dots

(items in RED were purchased through Joan's Gardens in North Liberty, Indiana)

Other challenges this project qualifies for are:

What’s the strangest thing you have been hoarding for the purpose of using it in your art and how do you plan to use it?  Feathers from an old feather pillow which I hope to someday create a large bird wall hanging and use the feathers on his wings & body.

Well, there you have it!  Remember ... be sure to pop on over to my 'partner in crime's blog' ... BLEST WITH STAMPS ... and see what Lana did with her yellow painted framed mirror!

This is always great fun and so inspiring!  Why not link up with one or two of your crafting friends and challenge each other to a fun time altering the same (or similar) item!  It can be amazing how different the same item can be!  AND, if you do this, PLEASE let me know ... I'd LOVE to see what you've created!!

Have a wonderful Monday!
HUGS,
Darlene
