Use Your Stuff - Heat Embossing

Happy Monday All!

It's time for a new challenge over at the Use Your Stuff Blog! 

 I just couldn't wait to join in today fun, but I'm sad to say this will be my last creation as a UYS DT member.
These ladies have been FABULOUS to work with, a very supportive group of talented ladies!
I will miss them but life is getting busier for me this summer so I had to make some difficult decisions!
Thanks for everything ladies and keep up the awesome work!!!

NOW ... onto today's challenge!
  Shirl is the hostess today and her theme for this week is

HEAT EMBOSSING

Well, I'll be the first to admit that it has been a very long time since I've done ANY wet (heat) embossing so today's challenge was truly a lot of fun!!   I remember a long time ago embossing on vellum and coloring on the reverse side so that's the technique I've used today.

 

Of course I'm sure many of you recognize the stamp I have used on my creation!

Yep ... one of my all time favorite (old) SU flower stamps - Morning Glory.

I've stamped my image using Versamark onto vellum, then spread on dark green embossing powder, heat emboss then flipped it over and used SU markers for the coloring.  Unfortunately while coloring I did smudge a bit on part of the vellum ... hence the sequins to cover up my boo-boo!  Sssshhh don't tell anyone!!  LOL

 I've used the Sue Wilson 'Australian Collection' #CED2204 for my oval die cutting.

I've actually used only the outer two larger dies for this creation.

The outside largest for both the vellum and the card stock panel ... then ran the card stock

panel through again with the second largest (decorative) die.

I love the softness the vellum gives this image.

I happen to have this Impression Obsession 'Bird on a Branch' sitting on my work table

just begging to be added to my card so I couldn't help myself!  Yes, it had been die cut for a different project but just didn't work on that piece so today's the day ... after all, where there are flowers, there are birds!

Use Your Stuff - Sketch

Hello Everyone! 

It's time for a new challenge at the Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog

and today Tina has an awesome sketch for us to create with . . .

Now as you noticed ... this sketch is designed to be used in your scrapbooking ...

but hey, who says you can't use it for a card too?  

I did ... LOL ... please see below.

I love using sketches and I must admit this is the 1st time I've used a scrap booking sketch

for a card but I can guarantee you it won't be the last!  LOL

And, while I'm 'confessing' I have a 'boo-boo' to own up to!

See how the 'journaling' panel is two different paper patterns?

Well ... It was all the cute little floral pattern and I drew the lines on it (after thought)

and had the brilliant idea to stamp words on it to look like journaling ...

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT ... I stamped it UPSIDE DOWN ... yep, silly me!

Of course I didn't have another panel of that paper to fix my 'boo-boo' so covered it with

a coordinating paper, redrew the lines and FORGOT about the words!  Uugh!

Turning a negative into a positive . . .

Other than my base card, various scraps were used to create today's card

which 'lowered the mountain' of scraps on my work table!

Use Your Stuff - Favorite Punches

Hello Friends and Welcome Back!

I'm always so excited to start a new week in Blogland ...

to see what you've all created to inspire me and hopefully I can

create something that will inspire you in return.

Today I have a creation to share that I've created

for the new challenge over on the Use Your Stuff challenge blog.

 Beth is hostess today and she's asked us create with the theme ...

FAVORITE PUNCHES

 With all the dies I have collected over the past couple of years, I must

confess that my punches have been horribly neglected!  This challenge gave me the opportunity

to blow the dust off of them.  I've actually decided to choose only one punch to create with today ... and that punch is the Martha Stewart 'Floral Vine' punch.

I must tell you that today's card was 'pieced together' by using up some snippets

that have been laying on my work table.  The K& Co. design paper is a scrap left over from

making tea cups for the local Tea Shoppe, the frames are snippets from the 

Impression Obsession 6-in-1 Frame (#DIE242) left over from a project where I used the

larger frames and the double stitched grosgrain ribbon is all that was left

on a ribbon spool ... whew!~ just made it!!!

OH!  And the lady bug was cut from the little bitty piece of designer paper that I used 

for my background panel ... I just happen to spot him when I was tossing 

the remnant into the trash!

Use Your Stuff - Tissue Paper

Happy Monday Dear Friends!

It's my turn today to share a creation for the Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog.

Khristina is our hostess and she's asked us to use TISSUE PAPER on our projects!

Now, I must admit, tissue paper is the LAST thing I would think

to pick up and incorporate into my projects but I'm really glad she has inspired

me to 'give it a whirl'!  Here's what I came up with . . .

Originally I thought of just stamping my image/sentiment then

just crinkling the tissue paper and putting it onto colored

card stock but then I got the bright idea to try and color the 'sky' area

using Ken Oliver 'color bursts'.

My first attempt was WAY TOO HEAVY on the color and

actually couldn't pick out the stamped image.  So, I tried it again with

a 'lighter hand' on the color burst and was happier this time around.

After adding my color burst I spritzed the tissue paper with water

to 'bleed' the colors and carefully dried it with my heat gun

before 'crinkling' and gluing it to my white card stock panel.  

I really like the crinkling effect and, a touch of faux stitching was all that was necessary to accent 

my beautiful tissue paper panel.

Use Your Stuff - Quotes

Hello & Happy Monday Everyone!

There's a new challenge today at the Use Your Stuff Blog and I love the theme . . .

INSPIRED BY A QUOTE

You don't have to put the quote on your project 

but you do need to let them know what it is!

I decided to use the quote as the focus of my card.

This quote panel actually came from a 12x12 sheet of 7Gypsies designer paper called

Gypsy Moments Collection:  A Novel Thought

I reached back into my OLDIES for this 2 sided Stampin' Up background snippet.  

I have a stack of 6x6 papers that I bought at a garage sale several years ago

so I can't tell you what the actual paper pack name is/was. Sorry!   But you see BOTH sides here

because the panel I cut off I simply flipped over and used as a dividing panel.

To create my 'Bird on a Branch' embellishment, I've actually die cut the Impression Obsession 'Bird on a Branch' twice then cut snippets from the second cut for added branches.

Use Your Stuff - Flowers

Happy Monday All!

It's time for a new challenge over at the Use Your Stuff Blog and I just couldn't wait to
join in the fun!  Martha Lucia is the hostess today and her theme for this week is

FLOWERS

And here's what I've created . . .

As some of you may know, I've been lucky enough to do some  demoing for Heartfelt Creations company at the Adventures in Stamping convention held here in Akron, OHIO each April.
Well last year at the end of the convention the Heartfelt representative asked me if I wanted the left over flowers she had been demonstrating.  Why of course I immediately said "Sure, Thanks!"

Today's card utilizes a few of those die cut flowers pieces which I've colored using sponge daubers and various inks.  Shaped and stacked to create my flower cluster.  After coloring my flowers I decided to create my own background panel using the same colors I used for the flowers and overlay it using the Bokeh technique.

I simply sponged the various colors of ink onto a white card stock panel.
I let it dry a bit then started the Bokeh technique by using white ink, small sponge dauber and a (new to me) Memory Box Stencil called 'Modern Pop Dots'.  You can create your own stencil using an acrylic sheet and circle punches/dies.  But this was far easier ... lol!

Also, for my sentiment, I've had this tidbit from the Impression Obsession 'Rectangle 6-in-1 Frame' die set laying on my work table and decided to use it in behind the Impression Obsession 'Get Well Soon' die for a little added dimension.  With a design like this you could use ANY sentiment for any occasion.

** EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE **

I've been asked to be part of the team over on 'Use Your Stuff' challenge blog and I couldn't be happier.  I have SO MUCH STUFF that this is exactly what I need to blow the dust off some of this stuff and get busy creating.  LOL!

The new team members were only debuted today but you know me ... Mrs. Impatient ...

so I just JUMPED RIGHT in and create a card to share.

This week's theme is:  Ribbon, Twine, Lace

I chose lace and twine for today's creation.

I've had a few sheets of vintage images that I purchase a good while back from PION design called 'From Grandma's Attic - tinted'.  They are all just adorable and I was also able to use some of the free design paper I received in a Quick Cards magazine called 'Parisian Dreams'.

I thought the pink in these little ladies dresses went perfectly with this paper and the little touches of green leaves in the paper determined my matting/accent color.
