Seeing the Sights . . .

. . . in our nation's capitol - Washington, D.C.

Happy Monday evening everyone!
No cards to share with you this evening.  Hubby & I are taking a few days to enjoy/explore our nation's capitol and there is SO MUCH to see.

Capitol Building

As close as we attempted to get to the White House!

Small portion of Arlington Cemetery

Smithsonian Castle

Mark & I inside the beautiful Botanical Gardens in the Smithsonian Castle.

I think this is my FAVORITE photo so far ... Mark into the beautiful tower of windows within the Smithsonian Castle.

We may have missed the Cherry Blossom Festival but luckily we still made it in time to see some of these gorgeous Cherry Tree's in bloom.  They are breath taking!

I am so glad I took this close up during our walk up to the Union Station.
These are not fruit trees ... they are a flowering tree called Yoshino Cherry Trees.  In 1912, the people of Japan sent 3,020 cherry trees to the United States as a gift of friendship

This is Union Station where we picked up our bus tickets to partake in the Hop On - Hop Off tours.  If you are ever in the Washington, D.C. area ... this is a FABULOUS way to get around to all the amazing sites!

Whew!  I know that was a lot of pictures but I really could have shared more, LOL (I took 70 photos yesterday).  So I hope you enjoyed Day 1 of our trip and tomorrow I'll share a few photos from today's adventures . . . Lincoln Monument, Vietnam Wall, WWII Memorial, Smithsonian Natural History Museum [dinosaurs].  But for now, I'm taking off my shoes (my feet are screaming ... they haven't walked this much in a long time!), putting on my PJs and relaxing for the rest of the evening!

More fun planned for tomorrow!
How blessed we are . . . GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  6. Oh I just LOVE Washington DC!! Hubby and I went several years ago and I'd love to go back as I felt we didn't have enough time. Loved seeing the FBI building with the tour..very intersting! The Holocaust museum was just opening up when we went and I loved that too...many tears shed during that time for me. This is the perfect time of year to go to as all of those gorgeous trees are in bloom! Fantastic photos and thanks for sharing! :) Enjoy the rest of your time there!! HUGS
