Keeping Inspired & Positive

Hello Everyone and Happy Thursday!

Last week while communicating with friend & fellow Double D design team member Birgit, she mentioned how she was struggling to get into crafting and found herself sitting on the couch watching TV and becoming a bit depressed.  Instantly I thought 'what can I do to help her through this slump'.  If you follow my blog, you know that BFF Diane & I have been participating in the same online challenges to help keep us motivated and it's been a lot of fun.

So that is what I proposed to Birgit and asked her to jump over to Paper Playful and choose a challenge that looked like fun to her.  She did exactly that and I'm happy to say that some of the other DT ladies (lol in fact, ALL of them) have decided to join in the fun!  So, today we are playing along with the Cut It Up Challenge where the theme is:

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail (Easter)!
(and instructed ... Don't forget the die cut!)

At the bottom of my post I will share link to each of the girls who are playing along ... please take a minute, pop over to their blogs and share some positivity!  It's a difficult time we are all going through right now and we need to stick together.

Here's what I've created . . .

The dies I've used are:
Frantic Stamper 'Easter Basket & Bow' (FRA 9389)
Impression Obsession 'Bunny Set' (DIE 043)
Cheery Lynn Designs 'Lace Corner Deco E' (B165)
Paper Rose 'Grass Edge' (17571)

I began my card with a background panel of pink/blue plaid designer paper then added a panel of pink card stock.  My basket was die cut from white card stock then colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  Now HERE COMES the FUN PART ... the eggs inside my basket . . .

were fussy cut from a smaller scrap piece from this designer paper.  Wasn't sure if it was going to work but it worked out beautifully I think!!  Adds extra dimension but is totally flat! LOL

After die cutting my bunny trio and coloring their ears & noses pink, I decided to die cut just the one from brown card stock to appear in the basket as a 'chocolate bunny'.  I was tempted to 'bite off' part of one ear but just didn't have the heart to do that!  LOL

Friends playing along are:

How awesome that all my Double D friends are joining in this fun challenge!
Can't wait to pop over to their blogs and see what they've created!

  6. Oh my, your card is cute as can be Dar! You are so clever to have cut those dies out of the printed paper. That was the first thing I asked myself when I saw your card. I thought maybe they were stickers. This is the perfect spring Easter basket with all those bunnies hopping around and the chocolate one inside, is the perfect finishing detail. I laughed when I read that you were tempted to bite the bunnies ear off. haha! Still laughing.... You're a great friend and I thank you for putting a smile in my heart with your friendship. This was great fun and I look forward to another challenge with my favorite team.

  7. This design is brilliant and I can't believe how dimensional this card is! I really like the contrast of scale between the bunnies and the large realistic eggs. The layering really adds to its dimension as well! Really nice job and thanks so much for playing a long with us over at the Cut It Up! Challenge - we are so happy to have you in our gallery! : ) Thanks to the entire Double D Team!!!

  9. You are so right. Layering the fussy cut eggs adds the illusion of dimension but still be an easy mail card. Love how the bunnies are playing in the grass and how perfectly the eggs fit in the basket. This was fun. Thanks for making it a team event.

  11. That is just too adorable, love the white bunnies with the pink ears :) That would have been funny to have a bite taken out of the chocolate bunny! Before reading how you did it I was going to tell you that you did an excellent coloring job on those eggs, I never would have guessed it is paper. Love your fancy corners to top it all off!
