SCS Sketch Challenge #258

Today's sketch challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers left the doors open to many things and after visiting a friend last evening and seeing some of her creations (waving "Hi" to Sandy) done using the Nestabilities tree die, I just had to give it a whirl and I'm sure glad I did! It worked perfectly for today's creation. I still don't have enough holiday cards to send to everyone I want to send too! Yikes!!

My base card is garden green cardstock and I have used "scraps" from three different holiday designer papers for my background panels. I didn't care for how the two paper designs looks butted up against each other so I threw a 1/2" strip of musial paper over top and I think that helped marry them quite nicely! My sentiment is by Paper Inspirations and the felt poinsetta/leaf are from Hero Arts.
To create the tree, I diecut FOUR trees of the same size ... cut portions of the tree off in a wavy motion using my Fiskars swivel craft knife ... then stacked them using dimensional tape. I have used gold Stickles along the edge that was cut ... that might help you visualize things a little better. I've also used Stickles to "decorate" my tree. The matting was created using aNestabilities decal rectangle die for the ivory panel and Fiskar decal scissors for the green panel.
I hope you enjoyed this little creation ... it was really fun and really very easy! Thanks so much for stopping by today! It is EXTREMELY windy here in NE Ohio today and I can see that I will be REDOING some of my outside decorations after it dies down. The garland across the front of my house is only hanging on by the ends ... the rest is just "blowing in the wind" ... NOT a good thing!! Happy Day my friends!!

Cuttlebug Creations

While visiting June Knaack at her stamp store (1870's Shoppe) in Zoar, Ohio this weekend, I took photos of a few of her new creations with the Cuttlebug embossing folders & Spellbinder Nestabilities diecuts ... then using that as inspiration, did my own version.

My White Wedding card is very similar to what June had on display. Although she had additional hearts on the front and pearls on the inside hearts on her creation. I chose to keep everything Whisper White with the exception of the sentiments. The images used on all three of these wedding card designs are from Inkadinkado.

After making the pristeen all white card, I wanted to try a few other ideas. For instance, why not sponge the hearts with a little soft Pink Pirouette ink for just a touch of color and then run it through the Cuttlebug or leave it plain. Or in this case, both! I also ran the card front through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dot Embossing Folder. For an additional embellishment, I punched 3 butterflies from Pink Pirouette cardstock & one of the Martha Stewart butterfly punches.

Then I got really brave and created a Black & White Wedding creation! I actually think this looks quite elegant ... what do you think??? The only panel I embossed was the black matting heart and it was run through with the Swiss Dot embossing folder. I also used a small sponge & Versafine black ink to make the shadowing around my Mr. & Mrs. sentiment. My embellishments are The Paper Studio half pearls and Martha Stewart birds.

Oh ... did I mention that both hearts are popped up on dimensionals???

So that's what I was doing this afternoon. We were hoping to have some friends visit but DH wasn't feeling all that well today so we've asked them to come another day. Tomorrow is Mark's PetCT Scan ... pray it comes back CLEAR. Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

SCS Sketch Challenge #228

My card for this week's SCS Sketch Challenge is basically made from ALL Anna Griffin designer papers. I've had this 8x8 pack of paper for a long time and use it very sparingly because it is so beautiful with all it's textures and patterns. For some reason I decided to stop "hoarding" and made a beautiful card that will make someone smile.
The sentiment is by Hero Arts and after stamping with Wild Wasabi ink onto Whisper White paper, I clear embossed it. I used my Nestabilities (Label Three) die cut for the shape and before removing from the die cut, I used a sponge applicator & Groovey Guava ink for the coloring. The "latice work" panel is actually the "flip side" of the grava panel. The satin ribbon is by Darice, pearls by Mark Richards and birds by Martha Stewart.
I wished my blog had "touch vision" so you could feel the texture of these papers. Hope you enjoyed viewing this card as much as I enjoyed making it! Thanks for stopping by ... have a wonderful day!!

Nestie Embossed Cards

I recently joined in on a new site called Paper Craft Planet and was so inspired by a set of cards created by JessJean that I had to make a couple for myself.

I have always used my Nestabilities for cutting but never took the time to figure out how to use them for just embossing! Well, when I saw jessjean's cards (and she gave instructions) I just had to give it a try and here's what I came up with. I used two ovals to emboss but will have to try it with just one! The santa image is from Crafty Secrets - Vintage Christmas and the cardinal is from SU - A Cardinal Christmas. Add a few prima flowers and some ribbon and there you have it ... instant card!!
It is just amazing to me how much inspiration there is out there ... and I'm trying to draw in as much as possible!! Hope somewhere along the line I have given you inspiration!! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!
