One Quick Card ...

... to share with you before heading over to my daughter's house to celebrate Morgan's 18th birthday!!  This is actually Morgan's birthday card and I didn't want to post it too soon and spoil the surprise!  Ssssshhh, don't tell her!!  

They are having a challenge over on the Sugar Nellie Forum of SCS and you are to create an Easel Card.  I don't have a lot of Sugar Nellie's, but the one's I do have I adore!!  They each were purchased with someone in mind ... and mostly Morgan!! Mo always loved dressing up and wearing hats when she was little and of course that would be ME on the card too, bringing cupcakes to Mo!!  Teehee!

This is one of Morgan's graduation pictures!  Isn't she pretty??  Of course I'm a bit prejudice ... after all, I'm Nanna ... I'm allowed to be!!

Now here is my Teeny Tiny creation.  My image is Sugar Nellie - Dress Up Maggie ... isn't she a cutie!!  The "teeny tiny" part of my card are the little prima flowers in the upper left corner ... WOW, didn't realize I had used so many ... maybe got a little out of hand!  LOL!!

I made my own background paper using Melon Mambo ink and a Rubber Stampede Rose background stamp.  Prismacolor markers were used for my coloring and I've even added a little Liquid Applique for added texture on her boa.

Practical Scrappers & Winter Wonderland Challenges

Good evening everyone! I hope you've had a great day! I know I have ... I popped in on a friend and had a wonderful visit. She (Lana Edwards) is such a talented crafter, just being around her inspired me to come home and do a little crafting of my own. So with that in mind ... remember the Sugar Nellie image I "couldn't" use on the creation from my last post? Well, I decided to use her on this creation which covers the WINTER theme for the Practical Scrappers Challenge and the THANK YOU theme for the Winter Wonderland Challenge.

My base is a two-ply navy/white card and the designer paper is from a Debbie Mumm holiday pack from JoAnn's. I've torn white cardstock, stacked, and edged with Martha Stewart craft glue and DecoArt Glamour Dust. My THANK YOU sentiment is handwritten spelled out in the red snowflakes punched with a Creative Memories snowflake punch. Willow was colored using Prismacolor Markers and I've used the DecoArt Glamour Dust to add a little extra sparkle to her cuffs & earmuffs (don't think you can see that in the photo).

Digital Tuesday Creation ...

I'm still trying to get my mojo jump started so I'm trying a new challenge today. Today my creation is for the Digital Tuesday Challenge and we were asked to do Winter Scene Images using lots of Dazzling Diamonds (Diamond Dust) for Snow. You are to use a digi image also. That is the part I nearly forgot!!!!!


I first made this card using a Sugar Nellie image (see insert) then when I was finished, I realized I was to use a digi image so gently took the Whiff of Joy off and added this fun loving snowman by a NEW digi image designer ... Tanya (Stawnies - Stamps by Tanya). Tanya has a couple other blogs you might be interested in ... links are on the sidebar of her stores blog.

I created the background by using a large sponge pod and various blue SU inks and smeared them back & forth half way down the piece of paper. Then I stamped the moon using another large sponge pod & white craft ink & embossed with silver pearls embossing powder. The pine trees is a stamp by Stampscapes (150E-pine row). Next I tore strips of white card stock, stacked them ... then used Martha Stewart craft glue and Twinklets Diamond Dust to create my snow. For my snowman, I colored him using Prismacolor Markers, cut him out with a Fiskars swivel craft knife then added the glue/diamond dust.

So what do you think??? I think he's pretty cute and makes me want to go outside an build my own snowman!! Yes, we have enough snow to be able to do this and they are calling for more this coming weekend ... joy, joy!!

Happy Birthday Morgan!!

After talking with my granddaughter Morgan earlier this evening, I learned she received her birthday card today so it's now safe to share it with you all.

Morgan (Mo) will be 17 on Monday (oh where has the time gone???) and since her Pappy & I will be at the Cleveland Clinic instead of sharing your special day, I wanted to be sure to get something in the mail to her right away. She said she really liked the card and I'm sure she'll make good use of the gift card inside too ... can always use gas money at this age!!

I must share with you Morgan's only request for her birthday and that was to have her Pappy healthy again and to be there for her 18th birthday. Our sweet "little girl" has become such a warm, caring young woman ... we couldn't be prouder of her!!!

This sweet Sugar Nellie image so reminds me of Morgan when she was little that I just had to use it for her card. I used Stampscapes & Ala Art images to create the sky & grass for the background panel which was die cut using the Spellbinder Label One die. My card base is Eggplant with a turquoise Martha Stewart border punched mat panel. After stamping my image using Versafine Black I colored it with SU watercolor pencils and blender pen. I used my swivel craft knife to cut out the image and popped it up using dimensional tape. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch which I added a little Stickles to for added sparkle. The final feature was a touch of gingham ribbon.

From Mind to Paper

Here is a card that I've had in my head ever since purchasing a few of these lovely Sugar Nellie images.

When I saw that this little cutie was "looking away" my mind thought ... "what do you think she's looking at???" Well, that's where my Stampscapes come into play. I'll be playing with other images I have to see if I can't perfect this a little more.

What I've done is first stamp the Sugar Nellie (reflective) image onto white cs then masked her using Eclipse masking medium. Then I stamped the church, some additional pines on the left, and the path. I also masked the church so I could stamp the sky (Ala Art stamp) and the birds. The ground cover was colored with chalk & makeup applicator. The trees and Sugar Nellie were colored with SU & Prima pencils. I've used words from a Crafty Secrets (mini words) set and the Believe is from Technique Tuesday for the outside border. Of course I had to add a touch of softness with this beautiful white organdy ribbon from JoAnn's.

This was fun but I will have to work on my masking technique. I don't always get a good background image ... think I need more "cushioning" before stamping over the masked area so I don't get those "hallos". Your thoughts or suggestions???
