Hello Friends!
It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Alphabet Challenge Blog.
Today's letter is
O for OWL
Isn't this little guy just the cutest?
I started out by making my background panel using textured watercolor paper and various Tim Holtz distress oxide inks. The dies I've used today are as follows:
Elizabeth Craft - Poppy the Owl (#910)
DieNamites - Fancy Birdhouses (DN-1168)
After putting 'Poppy the Owl' together, I needed to find a branch for him to sit on. UH HUH ... this Die-namites die will work perfectly! I just need to cut the birdhouses off of it and 'Poppy the Owl' now has a tree branch on which to perch!
Also, I didn't have the sentiment I needed to go with this cute owl so I created one in Word, printed it out and then die cut it with one of the Sue Wilson flag dies. I've used Tim Holtz oxide distress ink (faded jeans) to sponge around the 'moon' and my sentiment banner ... otherwise I felt the white space was too bright.

oH my goodness, your card brings back memories. The very first card I made had a little owl on it similar to this one. My card had brown and pink and was not very pleasing to the eye, but I was so proud of my creation! I still have that card somewhere and should probably try to find it just to remind me how far I've come! LOL...

ReplyDeleteI'm in love with Poppy the Owl, Darlene. We're going to run off together. Seriously, such a cute image! And what a wonderful effect you've achieved with those distress oxides and that textured watercolour paper. I love the colours and, of course, the soft, almost felt-like texture. A perfect birthday card. Who wouldn't love it? Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
