Mix It Up Challenge - 3D

Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

  Anything Goes + 3D Project

Here's a couple little items I'm making for neighbors this year.
Coordinating gift bags and tissue box covers ... a KEEP one and GIVE one gift idea.
.
If you're not familiar with my tissue box covers, you can find the instructions in the TUTORIALS TAB under my blog header.  For the gift bag, I have taken a larger white handle bag (from the $ store) and decorated it using holiday cards I've received in the mail from various companies we send contributions to and a few snowy die cuts.  A touch of Stickes sparkle and this bag is ready to fill and pass along to one of their friends or family members.

I do hope you'll pop over to the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and join in the fun!

Mix It Up Challenge - Mixed Media

Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

 Anything Goes + Mixed Media

I chose a slimline design for today's card figuring that would give me a little more surface to play with for my design.  I've used some VERY OLD stamps and dies today.  Also used a dream catcher which was originally a book marker but removed that portion and just used the dangling portion.  It came in the mail from one of the companies we make donations to, so I kept it and knew it would come in handy at some point!  LOL  Today's the day!

Mixed Media is not something I do a lot of so I did my best and can tell I could use some practice!  I'm looking forward to learning from the creations shared on this challenge.

Mix It Up Challenge - Aperture any shape

Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

Anything Goes + Aperture (any shape)

I decided to base my card on snow (you know, the Christmas in July thing lol) and went with a snowflake shaped aperture.  Your thoughts??

My card is A2 in size.  My usual is A6 and upon completion, I realized I could have very easily gone with either size for this technique.  I have used a VERY OLD Stampin' Up snowman stamp for the inside panel and my 'large snowflake' die is by Impression Obsession (DIE093).  I have cut a panel of acetate and placed on the inside back of my card front.

My sentiment is from Hot Off the Press 'Winter Wishes' stamp set.

I do hope you'll pop over to the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and join in the fun!

Mix It Up Challenge - STAMPING

Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

 Anything Goes + Stamping

Today I've created a card using a stamp set that had never used before and hopefully I did it right!  LOL  It's the Spellbinder (STP-001 ) Layered Rose stamp set purchased through Simon Says Stamps.
STP-001 Spellbinders LAYERED ROSE Clear Stamps Preview Image
I've die cut a 'stem' from a old die set and popped up the rose with dimensional tape.  My background was a die cut panel using Penny Black 'Elegant Stitching' die set then sponged the edges using Tim Holtz 'Wilted Violet' distress ink.

For my sentiment, I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamps called 'Thoughtful Messages'.  Then die cut it using the smallest dies from the Sue Wilson 'Pierced Flags' die set and purchased through Dies R Us.

Mix It Up Challenge - LAYERS

 Hello my friends!

A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

Anything Goes + LAYERS (3 or more)

Today I've created a card using a variety of dies.  I will list them for you below.

I actually made this card with a special friend's upcoming birthday in mind.  She too likes the color purple so that's the direction I headed for my colors.  I've not only used several layers on my overall card, but I layered my sentiment with 3 layers.

The dies I've used are:

Paper Rose 'Stitched Rectangle Frames' (#16679)
Memory Box 'Catalina Wreath' (#98189
Memory Box 'Wishes' (#94122)
Sue Wilson 'Happy' (#CEDME010)
Elizabeth Craft 'Cupcakes' (#1144)
Cheery Lynn Designs 'Decorative Corners'

I have used Mauve & Purple Sparkle Nuvo Crystal Drops for the added sparkle on the cupcake and flower centers.  The cupcake was also popped up with dimensional tape.

I do hope you'll pop over to the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and join in the fun!

Today I've created a card using a couple of dies from the Tutti Designs Company.

Today I've created a card using a die set by Sue Wilson balled 'Happy'

Mix It Up Challenge - Fancy Fold

Hello my friends!
A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

 Anything Goes + Fancy Fold

Today I've created a card using the Double Z fold technique.

I decided to take care of two things at the same time!  My card for today's challenge and make a special Valentine's card for hubby!  If you've not made this fold before, here are the easy measurements.

It's basically an 11 x 4 1/4 piece of card stock that you score in half (5 1/2) and then score again at 2 3/4.  The strip piece is also 11 inches long and scored at 5 1/2 and again at 2 3/4 and attached the opposite direction from card base piece.  The strip can be any width you like...mine measured at 1 1/2.

I have really gone back into the archives for today's stamp set.
It's by a company named Flourishes (remember them??)
They are no longer in business and I've probably had this stamp set for a good 10 years.

I do hope you'll pop over to the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and join in the fun!

Mix It Up Challenge - Bleaching

Hello my friends!
A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

 Anything Goes + Bleaching

Today I've created a card using a 'Flowers & Ribbons' stamp by Hot Off The Press.

After stamping onto white card stock using Versamark, I embossed with white embossing powder and heat set.  I then sponged on three different colors of blue Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in an ombre pattern.  After sponging, I wiped over the entire panel with a soft cloth.  Then, I began bleaching the flower petals using a small artist brush and regular household bleach.

I added my sentiment to a vellum panel then die cut it using a banner type die to tie in with my stamped image.

Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

Anything Goes + Clean & Simple

Today I've created a card using some dies that I've had for over a year and had never used on a creation and I love how it quickly came together.  Why oh why had I not used this die yet?  LOL

The dies used are:
Dee's Distinctively Dies - White Pine Branch
Dee's Distinctively Dies - White Pine Needles

and the pine cones are from the Sue Wilson 'Woodland Collection'.

Mix It Up Challenge - Make Your Own Background

Hello my friends!
A new month means a new challenge over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog.
Remember, this is a monthly Anything Goes challenge but with a fun twist that you can choose to join in on ... or not!  This month's theme is:

Anything Goes + Make Your Own Background

I love creating backgrounds with Tim Holtz Oxide Distress Inks
so that's what I've used for today's card ... hope you like it!!

I used various shades of blue onto watercolor paper then of course used the technique of spritzing water and dabbing dry with a soft cloth for the spotted background.

For this sweet (sad looking) Rover, I've used the Stampers Anonymous - Tim Holtz Collection - 'Crazy Dogs' stamp set.  After stamping and coloring, I fussy cut him so he could be popped out and stand alone.  Don't you just love that face ... lol!

I've die cut a grass panel for him to sit in and my sentiment is from an Impression Obsession stamp set called 'Greetings Galore'.
