Beautiful Inspiration . . .

Happy Weekend Friends!
Today I have a card to share that was inspired by crafting friend Ros (Mikey's Mom).  When I saw her card HERE earlier in the week, I just knew I had to case it!  So beautiful!  Ros has such a wonderful creative style!!  Here is my take on Ros's gorgeous creation ...

I must admit, I'm surprised it turned out as good as it did because, right off the bat I used the wrong paper to create the background.

My intention was to use my Tim Holtz oxide inks with what I thought was the correct paper.  (A new paper pack I bought from Simon Says after watching one of Jennifer McGuire's videos.)  So I went about using the oxide inks and wondered why it wasn't drying properly ... only to then look at the package and see it is designed for alcohol ink ... I must have ordered the wrong paper.  Ugh!

As I was cutting a piece to put behind my corner die cut, it was smearing so I took a cloth and wiped the excess from it.  I wasn't about to waste it so I added the piece behind the corner then die cut my butterflies & vine from the remaining piece.  With these additional elements I grabbed my alcohol inks and started playing around ... didn't turn out to shabby after all ... whew!

Then I die cut my sentiment from a scrap of light blue card stock.  Wasn't happy with how it looked so since I still had my alcohol ink dauber still laying on my work mat I dabbed over my words ... hmmm not too shabby either!  It will do!

The dies I have used today are:
Memory Box - Dies - Open Studio - Distressed Addington Collage
Sue Wilson Mini Expressions
Sue Wilson Designs - Mini Expressions - Happy Birthday
Cheery Lynn Designs Exotic Butterfly Small

Cheery Lynn Designs - Small Exotic Butterflies #1 w/Angel Wings

BoBunny Flutter Dies 12839812
Crafter's Companion Marilyn Robertson Kimono Fluttering Butterfly
Elizabeth Craft Garden Notes Ivy Vine 1297

Inside View
Again, I'm so happy with the outcome of this creation and can't thank Ros enough for inspiration.
So many times I will see a card online and think "OMG that is beautiful, I need to save it for future inspiration" ?  At that point,  I either do it right there and then or pin it to my card inspiration board for future use.   Do you do that?

Ros does have an amazing style & you've done her proud! Jennifer did use the TH AI cardstock with DO & then used the Distress Micro Glaze over it. I bought it, too, but haven't had a chance to use it like Jennifer did.

Oh, I LOVE how this turned out even with all the trials and tribulations and, hey, you have some good paper for your alcohol inks at least. The butterflies and sentiment look amazing cut from the backgrounds you created. Love how you added the Nuvo drops, too. My, oh, my... a beauty, Darlene! I was smitten with Ros's card, as well.

Now you are pulling one of my tricks, thinking I am buying something for a project and find out I got the wrong thing. I am glad it worked out after all, love the colors in the butterfly. The ivy and flowers along your collage corner is just beautiful. you have me wanting to grab my corner dies and give it a try :) Just Beautiful!!

Lovely to see you again at DCM Dar! Beautiful creation, love the softness of the blue behind the pretty filigree die cut - proving there’s no such thing as the “wrong” paper in this case, just different than anticipated! Thanks for joining us this week at Daring Cardmakers!

This is a stunning CASE of Ros's pretty card, Darlene! It isn't shabby in any way, shape, or form!! I'm sorry it gave you fits, but I'm so glad you persevered! Yes, I save or pin cards for later CASEing, but unlike you, I don't do any there and then. More's the pity because that means I never go back to all those saved pins! Self-discipline, wherefore art though?! Hugs, Darnell
