Inspired by others . . .

 Hello Friends ...

Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving?
I'm almost there!  We are hosting this year so hubby has his menu figured out (yes, he's the MAIN cook in this house) and I have everything I need to make pies and side dishes when the time comes.  Plus I have my tablescape all figured out so I guess we are as ready as we're going to be until it's actually time to cook!  Only 11 for dinner but that's okay as two weeks later (Dec 15th) we will have between 30-35 people here for our annual neighborhood Christmas Gathering.  Yes, we do all the cooking for that too so it's going to be a very busy month lol.

SO ... while I still have some free time, I thought I'd do a little crafting.

I spotted THIS card by Deborah Wheeler over on one of our challenge blogs and asked her if she would mind if I cased it for some addition holiday cards I am in need of.  She generously said yes and even though I ended up not casing her card exactly, I certainly did pull inspiration from her fabulous CAS design.  What do you think?

Using Scrapbook.com 'mint tape' I created my TH 'peeled paint' panel across my white card stock.  Then I used a red Tombow marker to create the red accent lines above and below my green panel.

The stamped holly branch is from an old (circa 2006) Penny Black stamp called 'Winter Bough' (#3508K) which you might still be able to find out on the web.  And, my sentiment is another very, very old stamp from a Stampin' Up set called 'A Cardinal Christmas' (do you remember that set?  I think everyone bought it when it came out lol!).

After creating my focus image I realized I had cut my panel too short so I simply created an icicle bottom by punching a scrap of white cs with another VERY old item ... the Martha Stewart icicle punch and adhered it to the back of my white panel just down far enough to fit my red matting perfectly.

A few red Nuvo Drops and VIOLA!!

I actually made two cards.  They are very similar, only slightly different one to the other.  Can you pick out the differences??

  2. It really is a beautiful CAS design, easy to mail and ideal for Christmas cards! Love the icicle punch for a filler. You are going to be busy. I did half the grocery shopping yesterday and next week I'll shop for the perishables. Our son is coming for a 4 day visit over Thanksgiving -- yay!
