Love Is In The Air

Hello and happy weekend Everyone !!!

Are you ready for another unique challenge at Saturday Spotlight ... GREAT! Here is what the Spotlight Divas are challenging YOU to try this week:

The Spotlight Divas would like to challenge you to make a Valentine/wedding/ love style creation with NO HEARTS used on it!! So think of another way to represent "love" without using hearts!

Here is what I've come up with:

This lovely image & sentiment panel are from the Crafty Secrets Valentine Cotton Scraps. Aren't they awesome! I just love vintage images and even without the sentiment ... this one scream LOVE!!
I've triple bordered the main image using black card stock and a scrap of DCWV dp (which I distressed) in between. The background paper is Graphic45 and the snippet of music paper is by The Paper Studio. The embellishment consist of Opaline half pearls by Basic Grey and Prima flowers.
I had to really think for a moment on this one!!! How do you say Love / Valentine / Wedding without hearts???? Well in my book ... kissing ALWAYS says LOVE ... so that's the route I took. I can't wait to see how YOU interpret our challenge this week!!

Our Spotlight sponsor this week is...

More Challenge Fun ...

It feels so good to get back into the Stamping Swing of Things!!! The holidays were great but I'm really glad to get a little more routine back in my life. With that being said, I have a couple of creations to share with you again today!!

It's a new year and a new round of challenges over on the Crafty Secrets Forum of SCS. We are on challenge #101 ... great number to start the year with! LoriLynn couldn't help but think of SPOTS when she say the #101 ... I'm sure you are familiar with that little movie, LOL!!! So, our challenge today is "SHOW ME YOUR SPOTS" ... using spots, dots, round things!!

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I decided to use my NEW Crafty Secrets "Couple of Cuties" stamp set. My background paper & dp used for the hearts is from the Crafty Secrets Radiant paper pack. I used Prismacolor markers to color my image then sponged out around using Ranger Tattered Rose distress ink. The string pearls are by Darice and purchased at Joann's. The hearts were created using the Nestabilities class heart dies and I decided to do a little paper piercing here ... something I seem to forget about these days!!! Don't know why because I love the look it gives! My friend Julie, (A Vintage Chic) has gotten me hooked on adding a touch of SPARKLE to my creations of late ... hence the silver glitter outline! Thanks girlfriend!!!

This second card is my creation entry for the LOVE ME challenge over on Stamp-By-Step. I actually submitted it the other day but hadn't uploaded it yet ... and since it also fits today's Crafty Secrets challenge I thought I'd share it with you today!!

My focus image is actually from Crafty Secrets! This is from their Valentine Cotton Scraps. I have mounted it onto silver metallic cs and popped it up for a little more dimension. The background paper is also Crafty Secrets, from their Radiant pack. For the center strip, I have used a 2" strip of Whisper White which was run through the Cuttlebug with their hearts embossing folder. I then cut out hearts with my Creative Memories heart punch using the same polka dot Crafty Secrets dp and adhered them with glue dots.

The challenge over on Stamp-By-Step is not only a theme challenge but a sketch challenge as well. This is where my layout came from and to complete my creation I have used various sizes of Prima flowers and added silver Stickles to the centers (again for that touch of sparkle!).

*** My friend Vicki (Stamped Smiles) clued me in to the fact that these creations also fit the fun-filled Crazy 4 Challenge for this week ... polkadots! So, I'll be sharing it with the Crazy 4 folks too ... thanks Vic!! ***

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by today! Those of you who are in the SNOWY regions ... I hope you are staying warm and for those of you in the WARM regions ... I AM SO JEALOUS!!!! LOL!!

Now I'm headed back to the Crafting Cave ... it's snowing outside ... I don't have to go anywhere until this afternoon so I'm going to GO PLAY!!! Happy Stamping Everyone!!!

Crafty Secrets Challenge - SHOW US YOUR LOVE

Today is MY day to host the Crafty Secrets challenge over on SCS and I have TWO cards to share with you. Last week LoriLynn brought to our attention that we've been hosting these challenges for a year and had us doing birthday/anniversary cards. Along those lines, I decided to go back through the challenge archives and sent out a "special invitation" to all those who have played this challenge in the past but haven't popped back in for one reason or another. Unfortunately only half of the ladies have read my message but I have received responses from several of the others and am looking forward to their participation!!

My challenge today is "SHOW US YOUR LOVE". This is totally open to your interpretation! It could mean showing love to your sweetie with a Valentine's Day card ... using a Crafty Secrets stamp set that you just LOVE ... maybe incorporating some chocolate into your creation ... or maybe a "Just Because" card for the sole purpose of putting a smile on a friend's face who is having a rough time. I always LOVE being able to do that!!! The choice is yours - just have fun with any of the awesome Crafty Secrets products you may possess!!
As you can see, my cards today spotlight my LOVE for Vintage Design! Several years ago I found that I truly enjoy anything from "yester-year". Love vintage photos, dresses, jewelry, decorating ... just love it all. Of course, I'm sure you've kind of noticed that about me if you've been following my blog. I guess that's one reason I enjoy Crafty Secrets so much!
My first card utilizes designer paper from the Crafty Secrets Pastel paper pack, the "Saying our Prayers" image and "Hear My Dollies Prayer" sentiment from the Little Dolls booklet. I have also used the Crafty Secrets Flourishes and stamped directly onto the designer paper. The foreground image is from the Internet and I've used a Nestabilities negative to showcase this sweet little girl. The stars are punched using a Creative Memories star punch ... sticker pearl centers are by Mark Richards and the little gold touches are Stampendous Diamond Dots. The lace I actually purchased in the sewing department of JoAnn's ... the manufacturer is Wright. My "Amen" sentiment was created using clear alphabet stickers.
My second card not only spotlights my love for vintage ... but my LOVE for my GIRLFRIENDS! I don't know where I'd be today without them!!! This image comes from the Crafty Secrets Girlfriend booklet and the background designer paper is from Crafty Secrets Earthy paper pack. The dp was mounted onto SU pink pirouette paper which was mounted onto an A-6 premade white card from Michael's. I've used a gold Pilot marker to edge each panel to give the illusion of matting without the bulk. Two ribbons were used on this card. First pink Offray grosgrain was placed horizontally ... then mauve Darice ribbon was positioned and tied vertically. The pearl accented flower if by Offray was purchased at JoAnn's and the gold thread is left over from the holidays and came from Michael's. My Girl Friend sentiment is from the Crafty Secrets Sew Special set and was embossed with gold sparkle embossing powder.
(Feel free to click on any image on my blog for a more DETAILED VIEW! )
Do you have any Crafty Secrets products in your stash?? Why not come play the challenge ... it's a lot of fun and we enjoy being able to inspire each other. Today's challenge is WIDE OPEN to interpretation ... pretty much anything would fit!! You have a full week before the next challenge is posted ... we would love to see you join in!! Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Simply #72 - Love Is In The Air!

Today's Stamp Simply Challenge has to deal with LOVE!

Please stop by Sharon Johnson's blog and show her a little love ... she has had quite a lot on her plate lately and now has been down with the flu bug for the last four days!

Now on to the challenge! In Sharon's words "Make any love themed card you’d like — it could be for Valentine’s Day or for a wedding or anniversary, or even a LOVING birthday or thinking of you card — just incorporate LOVE into your project somehow!!! " (You can click on any of my images for a closer view).

I've had these beautiful vintage images hanging on my pegboard just screaming to be used. I printed them from DigitalCollageSheets.com. My intention was to use all three images on one card but as I started, I realized I wanted to focus on each image individually ... so now I have THREE cards to share with you on this challenge! I know ... CALL ME CRAZY!!!

My first card is my favorite!! The background paper is designer paper to mimic antique lace and is by Karen Foster. All stamping has been done directly onto the paper. Stamps used were: Crafty Secrets (Sew Special), Autumn Leaf Clear Stamp (Love) and Flourishes (Open to Love) double hearts.

My second card was very simple! The background paper is from the DCWV 12x12 Old World pack. The only stamping on this card is the "Special Love" sentiment which is from the Crafty Secrets (Mini Memories) set. I placed my vintage image behind a Darice photo frame and matted it with a scrap of SU designer paper. The organdy ribbon is from JoAnn's and the sticker pearls from Mark Richards. LOVE the softness of this card.

My third card was a little tricky due to the color tone of the image. I finally decided on Pacific Point for my card base and a scrap of SU dp for my background panel. The paper lace is by Around the Block and was given to me by my friend Tammy Hershberger (Stamp Happy). The heart tag I had in my scrapbooking stash and the fibers were also a gift and matched in perfectly. The only stamping on this card is the "Happy Anniversary" sentiment which comes from an Inkadinkado Wedding clear set.
Okay ... that's it for today's Stamp Simply Challenge cards. What fun I had once I decided what to do!! Hope you are having fun today too! Still cold and snowy here in NE Ohio ... so I guess I'll just have to go to the craftroom and play somemore ... oh wow is me!! LOL! Happy Day my friends and thanks so much for stopping by!
