A Challenge Card & A Recipe

WOW ... I'm not getting a whole lot of crafting done these days ... I'm sure you understand ... still trying to be sure I have all my Christmas cards in the mail ... shopping completed & wrapped and NOW ... we've decided to have a neighborhood Christmas Party THIS Sunday!  Yikes ... nothing like waiting until the last minute!  (I can thank hubby for that one!!) LOL

Anyways ... today I did make a card!  One that fits two challenges that popped out at me.  The STAMP SOMETHING challenge to make a tag or pocket card ... and ... PATTIE"S CREATIONS challenge to use your punches.
I'm so happy with how this creation turned out and I have to thank these two challenge blogs for their influences!  I have added Deco Art Glamour Dust to the tips of the wings on the doves as well as the inner lining of the punched hearts for a touch of sparkle.
My card contents:
Papers:  Whisper White cs, Cranberry Red cs, Melissa Frances dp
Stamps:  Pattie G's digi (Doves), American Crafts (sentiment)
Punches:  Martha Stewart Lacey Heart, All Night Media Corner
Accessories:  Offray Red Satin ribbon, Deco Art Glamour Dust, Prismacolor markers

 * NOW FOR THE RECIPE I PROMISED YOU *
This is one of my favorite dip recipes and it's always a hit!

Dried Beef Dip
1 - 2 1/2  oz pkg. (jar) dried beef  (rinsed & chopped fine)
1 - 8 oz package Philadelphia Creme Cheese (softened)
2 Tblsp. milk
2 Tblsp. fine chopped green pepper (or red if you prefer)
2 Tblsp. fine chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Mix all ingredients together ... place in a baking dish ... back 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.  Serve with your favorite crackers.  We prefer either Triscuits or Wheat Thins

I hope you will try this recipe.  And if it starts to cool ... that's fine too ... it's just as good that way or you can rewarm it!

Thanks so much for stopping by during this busy time of the year!
Hugs to you all!

More Challenge Fun . . .

Good Evening All!

Here's another challenge I've been wanting to get involved in!  It's the challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenges.  This is their third challenge and they're now switching to a weekly format!  How much fun is that going to be!!  Today's challenge is to create a Christmas Card or Project.

I have used Pattie's digi image called "Pattieboop's Ice Skates".    This particular image is actually one of Pattie's Freebies.  I've used the SKETCH for this week's challenge over on Stamp Something.  I really thought this layout would showcase Patti's ice skates perfectly and I'm very happy with the outcome!

The recipe for this creation is as follows:
Papers: Basic Black, Whisper White, Graphic45 (Christmas Past), American Traditional Designs (Snowflake Sky)
Image: Pattie's Creations
Accessories: Nestabilities classic circles, Fiskars swivel craft knife, Kaiser half pearls, glue pen, Glamour Dust

This was such a wonderful layout and I'm sure I will be using it again very soon!  I thought you  might like a closer look at the sparkle on the skate ribbons.

Here are other challenges this creation qualifies for:
Craft Your Passion - Recipe (Two of Anything) - two designer papers
The Crafty Calendar Challenge - Winter Snowflakes
Paper Sundaes - Let It Snow
Raise The Bar - Curves

Thanks for stopping by ... hope to see you again tomorrow for two of my favorite challenges.  Enjoy your evening!  It's nearly time for Pittsburgh Steeler football ... gotta go!

Hugs,
Darlene

Playing the Challenges and a need for your Prayers!

2nd Post Today
Please scroll down for SCS Crafty Secrets Fun.

How adorable is this "Little Stinker" image from *Wink *Wink Ink!!  I have used the PRE-COLORED image you receive when you purchase any of Melanie's stamp sets.  You get a Black/White, a Transparent & a Pre-Colored image with every set!    I also chose to use the "Out of the Box with Nestabilities" technique ... that is how the little skunks tail is outside the circles.  This is a fun technique!  I first saw it done over on GinaK's StampTV site but last week SCS came out with the tutorial I have linked for you.

(click on ANY image for a larger view)
This card fits three different challenges.  Today's MIDNIGHT MADNESS SKETCH CHALLENGE, the CCEE CHALLENGE to make a Get Well card and the STAMP SOMETHING CHALLENGE to use Layers.

I chose to use the CAS sketch this week ... it just fit better with what I was trying to accomplish and I've given you a little sneak peek at the inside.  Cute huh!!!

Here is the recipe for this creation:
Stamps:  *Wink *Wink Ink digi, AMuse, Inkadinkado
Papers:  Bo Bunny dp, Basic Black, Whisper White, Taken with Teal
Inks:  Versafine black
Accessories:  Nestabilities classic & scallop circles, White Gelly Roll pen, Kaiser flowers, Basic Grey brad, Fiskars swivel craft knife, Offray black satin ribbon

I'm sure this little cutie will put a smile on the face of anyone who is a little down in the dumps or dealing with a stomach virus (like so many are right now!) or whatever is ailing them at the time.  Speaking of that ...

I would like to ask you to keep a local crafting friend of mine in your prayers today!  Her name is Mary Frances Cornell and she was just diagnosed with Leukemia!  She a very sweet, giving lady and she could certainly use all the help we can give her to help fight this battle.  She has been in the hospital for the past week and it looks like she might be there for another 3-4 weeks.  She's in isolation so is not allowed visitors but if you'd like to send her a card, please email me at akadafney@yahoo.com and I will get the address to you!!    Thanks for your prayers ... they are very appreciated!!

Well ... it's past lunch time (haven't eaten yet ... too busy crafting, teehee) and I really need to get outdoors so I'd best get off my 'puter and get my work done!!  Happy Day to you!

1 Card - 5 Challenges

Here we are at the beginning of another week already!!
My Sundays are always peaceful ...
and for that I am very thankful!!

Today, I am in a "vintage" mood, my favorite style of creating!  And after checking out a few challenges, I have come up with this creation.

(click on image for larger view)
I have several ways to satisfy my "vintage image needs" and today I have used one of the beauties found over on Art Creations Friday(If by chance I forget to attach the link to any of the vintage sites I refer to in my postings, you can always find them on my "Vintage Creations & Links" page ... located under my header).  The designer paper used here is K&Co Ancestry ... I just love that paper pack!  The three border punches are: SU lace ... Fiskars Apron Lace ... and Martha Stewart Arch Lattice.  For the matting I have used Nestabilities Classic & Scallop Ovals as well as the Classic Circles.  The ribbons, brads & charm all came from JoAnn's.
Here are the challenges this card covers:
Card Patterns Sketch #59 - Basic sketch
Crazy 4 Challenges - 1 ribbon, 2 buttons or brads and the use of 3 different punches
Stamp Something - Stitching (real or faux)
Our Creative Corner - Use Bows
Dare You To Digi Stamp - Metal  (hope this qualifies ... not a "digi image" but is an internet image which I consider digital).

We seem to be off to a very slow start here at the Pavlick house today ... guess I'd better get out of the crafting cave and see what DH has in mind and get this day moving!!  Thanks for stopping by today ... your visits & comments mean so much to me!!

Tomorrow is *Wink *Wink Ink DT day and I have another "cutie" to share with you!  Hope to see you there!!

Spring is Here ???????

Oh how I wish I could really say "Spring is Here!"  But as I look out my front door this Saturday afternoon ... I see nothing but snow, snow & more snow.  And yes ... it is actually snowing AGAIN!!!  So, since it is snowing, I have no choice but to stay indoors and play with paper & ink!  Oh wow is me!!  LOL!!!

(click for a larger view)
Looking through a few challenges that are out there to play, this card came together.  I love these Sugar Nellie images and since I don't use (or have) Copics, I don't feel my coloring is as good as some others but hey ... it is what it is!!  I do love this new technique where you cut out a portion of your image and slide the Nestabilities die in behind before cutting it out.  I really like the look of part of the image extending beyond the cutting line.

Here are the challenges this card satisfies today:
Inky Impressions #30:  Think Spring
Inspirational Card Sketches #55 - Sketch by Dawn B.
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday - SPARKLE
Crazy4 Challenge - Three Textures
Stamp Something - Recipe (designer paper, buttons, ribbon)

For the sparkle on my card, I have used Tiara Stickles, Red glitter ribbon & Teal glitter ribbon ... both from the Flower Factory.  I wish I could get a better photo of this ribbon ... it is REALLY SPARKLY!!!  I also colored the little girls clothes & the flowers using Gelly Roll Stardust Glitter Pens (again with the camera angle, uugh!)  Tiara Stickles was placed in the centers of all the flowers as well as the centers of the buttons and around the half moon panel.

The three texture portions of my card comes in the form of the Cuttlebug swiss dot embossed panel ... the grit of the sparkle ribbons and the embossing from the Nestabilities panels.

The designer papers used are from various Stampin' Up designer paper packs. And, my lovely sentiment is an Integrity Image from my friend, Joni!!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Stay warm, stay safe & above all, stay happy!!
Life is too short to be anything but happy!!

Thoughts of SPRINGTIME ...

Good Monday Morning To You All!!!

More snow is expected today but I'm going to "think happy thoughts" and create with "thoughts of SPRINGTIME"!

My creation for today satisfies four different challenges!  I'm not as good at combining challenges as some of the ladies out there in blogland, but I do the best I can, LOL!!

The sketch comes from the PCP sketch challenge for this week (SK022010), the theme of SPRING is for Stamp Something, CCEE Stampers is looking for something SWEET and using a CHARM is requested over on Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday.

Another Shabby chic papirskatter image was used for my focus panel and it just made me instantly think of Springtime!!  Here is a list of all the items used on this creation:

Stamps:  Stampin' Up "So Very"
Papers:  Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Crafty Secrets "Radiant" designer paper
Inks:  Versafine black
Accessories:  Image from Shabby chic papirskatter, Nestabilities classic & scallop circles, Michael's satin ribbon, sponge, Bow Easy, Making Memories heart charm, Prima flowers, Basic Grey brad, Kaiser pearl

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed your visit!!

Valentine for Jon-Boy

While covering a few challenges tonight, I made a mistake and used an older idea from the one site which was to make a "masculine" valentine card ... well, that idea has past and they've moved onto a sketch challenge now, but that was the basis for my creation tonight.  Hopefully my grandson (Jonathan) isn't viewing my blog ... because I intend to sent this to him, teehee!!

The challenges this card does fit are as follows:
Crazy4 - Valentine Card
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday - Valentine card with a twist - NO red
LOVE Something Challenge - love is the theme

The items used for this card are:
Stamps:  Valentine set from Target, The Rubber Cafe
Papers:  Whisper White, Graphic 45 dp, Colorbok dp
Inks:  Versafine Black
Accessories:  Nestabilities classic & scallop hearts ... Labels 9,  Stampendous Diamond Dots, Creative Memories fine tip black marker for Faux Stitching

Thanks so much for taking a peek!  Please stop back tomorrow for my Crafty Secrets Challenge  & Midnight Madness creations.  Hope to see you then!

It's All About the BLUES ...

It's difficult during these winter months not to come down with a case of "the blues" but never fear ... Spring is right around the corner! Well, at least I am hanging on to that thought!! And if you can't PLAY OUTSIDE ... you may as well PLAY IN YOUR CRAFTROOM!!!

My creation today covers various challenges and a few of those challenges were looking for you to use the color "blue". The items used on this card are as follows:

Papers: Blue Bayou, SU Blue Bayou designer paper, Garden Green, Whisper White
Inks: Blue Bayou, Ranger Vintage Photo
Accessories: Image from The Lady's Closet, white paper doily, Basic Grey Opalite half pearls, Basic Grey pearled brad, JoAnn's Clear Iris String Pears, Prima flowers, Creative Memories corner rounder, distresser, sponge, Martha Stewart branch punch

And the challenges it covers are:

Simon Says Challenge Blog - Shabby Chic

Stamp Something - Blue & White

The Play Date Cafe (PDCC12) - Shades of Blue

Our Creative Corner - Blue & Green

Crazy 4 Challenge (C4C20) - Sketch

Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday - Girly

WOW ... I think that's the most challenges I've ever put together on one card! You ladies who do this all the time must be "rubbing off " on me!! LOL!! Plus the fact that I'm suffering from bicep tendinitis/arthritis in both arms/shoulders right now and crafting/typing is a bit painful ... guess my brain said, "put them all together and get back to resting those shoulders"! So that's what I've done!

Hope you find inspiration from this creation and thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Dream ...

Happy New Year's Day!!

It's a pretty quiet day around here, hubby's watching football so I thought I'd take the opportunity to participate in a few challenges. Actually, I think this is the first time I have created a card that fits 4 different challenges (that I know of ).

The challenges are:

The Play Date Cafe #10 - color challenge using turquoise, chocolate & pink
SCS Sketch Challenge
Stamp Simply #120 - NEW Things
Stamp Something - NEW Somethings

My something NEW is this SWEET image from the UK. Isn't she precious!! (click images for a larger view) It's from a company called Charmed Delectables. And, the "dream" sentiment is from another new set ... Inkadinkado (round frames). Of course the layout is from this week's Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge and color scheme from Play Date Cafe color Challenge.

My card is A-6 in size and Whisper White in color. The background panel is Basic Grey Marrakech designer paper as is the paper used for the main image matting. After stamping my image with Versafine Black I have used Prismacolor Markers, Prisma Pencils and EK Success Chalk for my coloring. I've also used Spica pens and American Crafts glitter pens. For the sparkle on the wings, I have used Crystal Effects covered with DecoArt Glamour Dust. Diamond Stickles was used for the flower centers and Mermaid Glitz Stickles was used on the turquoise flowers and center squiggles between background panels. The flower centers are Stampendous Tuquoise Diamond Dots. The paper flowers were created using the Spellbinder's Shapeabilities Flower die.

As I type this post, the snow has begun to fall outside again and it's coming down pretty fast & heavy. They are only calling for 1-3 inches but it's going to be VERY cold ... high tomorrow only 16 degrees ... Brrr!

I hope you are enjoying this 1st day of the new year and that 2010 is the best year ever for you!! Thanks for stopping by and God Bless You for taking the time!!

Need More Cards to send ...

I just realized today that I still need SEVERAL more cards created to send to family & friends! (Some of you might be getting them late ... sorry!) So while I had a few open moments, I played around with images I had already colored (that's what I was doing while waiting for jury duty) and scraps of holiday paper piled on my worktable. AND .. I saw this layout over on Danni's Dreams Blog and thought it was a great layout to use up those scraps. This is the layout for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and it was really fun to work with. Here is what I came up with.

Last week when the girls came here for a get together, Lana Edwards brought along her new Sugar Nellie images to share. They are from the "Funky Kits" store ... I just loved this little gal and couldn't wait to get her colored. I used my Prismacolor Markers then cut her out with a swivel craft knife. I've added Liquid Applique to her ear muffs, cuffs & jacket bottom for additional dimension. The blue & snow flake paper is from a DCWV holiday 12x12 pack (shared by Terri Snode) and the music paper is from The Paper Studio (shared by Linda Davis). Thanks girls ... you're the best!!!
I see this week's Stamp Something Challenge is Winter Wonderland and I think this creation works perfectly.
This next creation again is using up some of those scraps of shared designer paper from friends. Also, the red cuttlebugged panel was created using the SU Sizzix embossing folder that friend Carol Smuts brought along to share with everyone ... I need to get this one ... doesn't it look awesome on that metallic paper!! My image came from the internet and for the life of me I can't remember where!! I'm thinking it was from a site I linked onto from my friend Julie Campbell's blog (A Vintage Chic).. Julie if you're reading this and know where this came from ... PLEASE let me know so I can give proper credit ... thanks!!
I have used the same snowflake designer paper from DCWV as the other card as well as garden green cardstock. I've used the Nestabilities Decal Rectangles to cut out my image ... Creative Memories snowflake punch and Prima holiday flowers.
Well, looks like I'd better get some work done around here! Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek ... I do appreciate you taking the time during this busy holiday season!

Cuttlebugging & Glitz

While sharing crafting time with friends on Friday, Carol Smuts brought & shared her new Holiday Cuttlebug embossing folders with us and I wanted to show you a couple of creations I have made using these folders. She also directed me to the CuttlebugChallenge Blog and wanting to play along this week, I have created with this first card. The theme of the challenge is to use your cuttlebug and GLITZ. Here I have cuttlebugged on silver metallic cardstock then used Green & Silver Stickles to add Glitz to parts of the embossed image. My sentiment is a K&Co. chipboard and the flowers are from Prima.
Using the same embossing folder on red cardstock and adding Green & Gold Stickles I was able to quickly create this beautiful card. My image/sentiment are from the Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas stamp set and I've used this card for the Heartwarming Vintage/Crafty Secrets Challenge for December over on PaperCraft Planet. Using these embossing folders certainly make quick work of holiday cards!!
Speaking of QUICK CARDS ... this creation took all of 5 minutes! Boy, you can't beat that during this busy holiday time!! Using Holiday Green cardstock and this new holiday embossing folder ... my card is all but complete!! I've simply placed it on a burgundy card base, punched out a few circles & snowflake, added a touch of Stickles on the snowflake and viola ... card complete!! How's that for quick card making!!!!
Either of these first two cards also qualify for the Stamp Something - Glitz Challenge so I'll be adding them to that blog challenge as well. Love to share new ideas and I'm really thrilled with the quick turnout of these creations.
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you are enjoying your weekend ... maybe decorating with Christmas music in the background ... or shopping online with the same music playing! Whatever you are doing ... hope it has put a smile on your face! Enjoy!

OCC & Stamp Something Challenges

This is my LAST posting for today ... sorry if I've overloaded you today! But I'm just having so much fun I couldn't stop myself, LOL!!

I purchased a Thomas Kinkade Christmas Series 8x8 pack last year from Cornish Heritage Farms and just never got around to using them. After viewing THIS creation on my friend Joanne's (Ambrosia & Iron) blog, I decided it was time to open the package and this image would be perfect for the layout I wanted to use and the monochromatic portion of the card fell right into place. The felt snowflakes and brads are by Creative Impressions and the satin ribbon is by Darice. The background paper is from the DCWV Old World pack and the sentiment is from the SU "A Cardinal Christmas" stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by today! I can only hope you find inspiration in my work ... Good Night!

What's your favorite color???

This creation is to cover two challenges today ... the layout is for Carol's Sketch Fun #14 and the theme is for the Stamp Something with your favorite Color or Paper Challenge. Anyone who knows me, knows I love PURPLE and VINTAGE. So, I've combined my two favorites into this one card. I've taken a "little" liberty with the layout but I think you can still pick up the original sketch on my card.

I just LOVE vintage papers ... almost to the point of obsession I'm afraid! LOL!! Sometimes it just so hard to cut into it once I buy it but I've used portions of this 12x12 Tapestry Lavendar & Lace dp before so it wasn't as painful today... LOL!! The tag is actually a portion of the paper that I carefully cut out with my Fiskars swivel craft knife, then used the other portion as background matting for this same card.
The only stamps used is the little Stampendous Funky Flower stamp that I used with Versamark on the foreground lavendar panel (just looked too plain ... needed something ... you know how that is). The ribbon is Offray Amethyst satin purchased from JoAnn's and I've attached the tag with a Making Memories polished gold brad and wrapped a piece of Inkadinkado gold thread around it.
I'm happy to say that my fever has finally broken so I'm starting to feel a little more human today and thought I'd work on a couple challenges. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and if you've commented ... a double thanks goes to you!! Your comments on my work mean so much to me ... whether they are good or bad ... it helps to make me better at this craft that I love so much!! Have a great day!!

A "3 in 1" Challenge Card

I am WAY behind on my challenges this week so I combined three challenges into this one creation.

The sketch is from The Fresh Batch "Stamps and Smiles" Sketch Challenge ... the Fall/Autumn theme is for the Our Creative Corner Challenge and for the Stamp Something - Favorite Embellishments Challenge, I'ved used ribbons & pearls ... my two favorites.

The ribbon comes from a local wholesale company called The Flower Factory and my friend Terri Snode (Terri's Cards N' More) shared it with us at our last get together. The leaf main image was also an RAK from my friend Kay Squires (Creativity is Good) ... from the GinaK "Autumn Leaf" stamp set. Inks used are Versafine Sepia and Kaleidocolor Autumn Leaves. Papers are Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Really Rust. Other items used are Kaiser bronze half pearls, dimensional tape and Nestabilities (scallop circles).

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back tomorrow for the Sharon Johnson's STAMP SIMPLY Challenge. Should be great fun!!!

2 for 1 Creation ..

Here is a card I created last evening to satisfy two different challenges. The layout is for the Carol's Sketch Fun #13 challenge and the "theme" is for the ANIMAL - Stamp Something challenge.
I decided to use this awesome "cat" image from The Rubber Cafe and I've stamped in both Versafine sepia and black inks. The sponging around the outer edge was done with Ranger Vintage Photo distress ink. The antique brass brads are by Making memories. The designer papers I chose to use are all from the Stampin' Up "To the Nines" specialty pack. They have texture and depth .. perfect for this layout design.
Hope you enjoyed this creation! PLEASE come back tomorrow when I have a BIG announcement and some exciting news to share with you!!!! Until then ... have a great, fun day!!!

Stamp Something - VACATION

I am running this challenge right to the end of time ... YIKES!!! So it's going to be SHORT ... I know, I can hear you shouting "YEAH!!!!" LOL
This card was created for the Stamp Something - VACATION challenge. This is a quick snopses of the challenge:
This week we thought with summer unfortunately winding down, we should look
back at the fun times we had. So we want to see projects inspired from something
from your summer vacation. Take inspiration from somewhere you went, someone you
visited, something you saw or anything at all that reminds you of summer!!!!
Cards, layouts, and altered items are always welcome!!
With my DH having a stem cell transplant in April, vacation this year was pretty much out of the question ... BUT ... we are hoping to share a BIG vacation next summer when he's healthier. That doesn't mean I didn't envy those family members that were fortunate & lucky enough to walk the sandy beaches this summer ... so, that was the inspiration for my card.
Details of my card:
Stamps: Inkadinkado
Papers: Whisper White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue, DCWV designer paper
Inks: Versafine black
Accessories: chalk, makeup applicators, swivel kraft knife, detail clear ep, Creative Memories decorative cutter

Paper Pieced Something - CHALLENGE

This week's challenge over on the Stamp Something blog is to do Paper Piecing. This is one technique that I just love but don't do often enough. Anytime I see it done I think ... WOW, that looks so amazing.

I didn't know what I wanted to work with today ... then I spotted this little dress that my friend Kris Turner started to cut out (she was practicing paper piecing) last weekend when she & the girls came to play and thought it needed a "home".

I've used two different papers for this creation. My background floral paper is from the SU "Delicate Dot" designer paper pack and the coral floral 2 sided designer paper is from Colorbok "Tracy Porter" 12x12 pack. Of course the Martha Stewart doily lace border punch goes perfectly with this little dress image from Serendipity. The sentiment stamp is by Outlines Rubber Stamps and I've used a ZIG Island Coral marker for the bordering color. My vintage buttons are from Bucket O'Buttons and I've used Michaels gold thread for the centers. The faux stitching was created using a Creative Memories fine tip black marker and a metal ruler. (click for larger view)

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you find inspiration in my work ... I know I certainly find inspiration from all of you!!!

P.S. Don't forget to comment on my blog candy posting to be eligible for the "goodies".
