Black & White Sympathy

 Hello Friends and Happy Tuesday!

Today's card was created out of a curiosity happening.
I purchased some new embossing folders recently and I was playing around
with this one by Nellie's Choice.

 It's beautiful within itself
but I wanted to see what else could be done with the 'embossed' area.
So I decided to die cut it from a panel of black card stock
that was laying on the work table and then started doing some outlining
with a white gelly roll pen.  Here's what I ended up with . . .

I did continue to fill in the actual flowers but left
everything else in an outlined format.   Instead of adding a mat to the back of my black panel, I chose to move it to the center fold of my card base and then I used a very old Just Rite stamp set that included this little flower stamp to add the flowers down the right side of my card front.  A strip of ribbon was added for texture and a small delicate sentiment was all I felt necessary to complete my card.

I wasn't sure what sentiment I wanted to put on this card but
these days it seems I'm always in need of more sympathy cards so that
is the direction I took.

AND, I must confess, if I were to do the flower border on another card, I would get my ruler out and premark where I wanted to stamp them ... obviously just eyeballing the spacing isn't working for me anymore!  LOL   ...  old eyes ya know!    But it's the thought behind the card that counts in this case so I hope the recipient will overlook the uneven spacing.

  2. Dear Darlene
Your card today is gorgeous. Nobody will notice the uneven spacing. I have to do a masculine Birthday card with Black and White for one of my loving son and friend as he only likes Black and White. I might borrow something from you. Blessings to you and yours

  4. Wow, that's almost like having a whole additional embossing folder. It looks more like a stamp. Really beautiful, Darlene! I also like the flowers down the side because they look like they're all part of a set. Didn't notice anything wrong with the spacing until you mentioned it and I looked very closely. We're so critical of our own work!

  6. Your card is so beautiful. It has a quiet elegance needed for a sympathy card. I never have enough of this kind of card on hand because I hate doing them. I seem to struggle to achieve the look I want but your card is just lovely and I'm making notes for future reference!

  7. Oh wow it is just lovely with the white on black background, it makes a lovely sympathy card. Do you know that I had to go back and look because I never noticed the flowers being off until you mentioned it so I don't think that will be noticeable!
