A Sketch - Recipe Challenge Combination ...

Today I finally found time to work on a couple of challenges. I decided to combine the RECIPE challenge over on the Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday blog with the SKETCH challenge over on the Get Sketchy blog ... and here's what I have come up with.
My image is a digi from Jules Junk which can be purchased over at the Digital-Ink Co. Store. Be sure to check out all the digi's available ... they are awesome!!! My bacground papers are Graphic45 and K&Co. Ancestry. I have bordered each panel using a gold Pilot marker with the exception of the main image of course, and that was matted using gold metallic paper and cut using a Nestabilities oval scallop die. I've used watercolor pencils and a blender pen for my coloring ... the gold satin ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the garden green sprigs are from the Martha Stewart "branch" punch.
Thanks for stopping by today! Now I'm headed back to my craftroom for more fun. If all goes well, I'll have a few more creations to share with you over the next day or so. Happy Day Everyone!!!

A few Touching Moments ...

Just a quick post to share with you today. Mark & I were invited to the wedding of our friends Mark & Nancy Beelman's daughter Sarah to Travis McKay over the weekend in Toledo, Ohio. I was thrilled that my DH was feeling well enough to make the trip. Unfortunately we didn't arrive in time for the wedding but did make it to the reception and had a wonderful time.

The Beelman's were our neighbors when we lived in Perrysburg, Ohio (Toledo area) and we have remained very close, loving friends even though we don't see each other as often as we would like. Mark & I were SO THRILLED to see Sarah so happy on this, her wedding day ... she & Travis make a wonderful couple and we wish them many years of love & happiness.

Stamp Simply #104 - Halloween is Almost Here!!

A moment of rememberance for those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001. God Rest Your Souls ...

**************

Today's Stamp Simply challenge over on Sharon Johnson's blog was all about Fall/Halloween! Here it is in Sharon's words:

Halloween is Almost Here! - Today’s challenge is to make a card or project
for Halloween, or perhaps a bag or container for treats! Anything
goes. And I realize some don’t care to do Halloween, and that’s just
fine — then just incorporate a pumpkin into your project! Everyone can
play, and we hope you do!!!

Since I had friends coming to "PLAY" today ... I made this card VERY quickly. So, it's a true STAMP SIMPLY creation. My main image is from the Crafty Secrets Halloween Cotton Scraps and the background paper is Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday designer paper. The orange satin ribbon is from Offray.

**************

My friend Terri Snode was on vacation this week so we decided to "get together and play" ... so I put the word out to a few others and my daughter even took her "day off" and drove the hour to come play. We shared snacks, chocolate, techniques, stamped images and a lot of laughs! Terri got several cards created, while my daughter Carolyn learned a few coloring tips from Lana Edward. Friend Carol Smuts joined in on the fun today and shared several vintage images among other things. This time we decided to each bring "grab bag" gifts, drew names for the drawings ... another fun way to share!! In the grab-bag there were some really cool items ... stamp sets, stickers, ribbon, rubber wheels, holiday envelopes ... WOW!

1999 vs 2008

Yippee ... I have a NEW (used) car and I love it!!!

I "LOVE" my Subaru Outbacks!!! The white car here is my OLD car (1999) and when I traded it in today, it had 182,669 miles on it and would have gone to 200,000 without a problem ... but, it was getting older, was going to need all new tires again before winter and I didn't want to put anymore money into it since we had been considering replacing it!

The blue pearl car is basically the same car but several years newer ... has under 30,000 miles and has all the "yummies" plus MORE! A few additions are: a built in Navigation system, sun roof, climate control, and several more! I really loved my other car and hated to get rid of it but I wasn't trusting it to go on long trips anymore ... so I did the next best thing ... bought a REPEAT!!

I know this probably wouldn't excite a lot of people. I don't need a FANCY car ... but I do need one that I can rely on and that I won't worry about driving in the snowey winters here in NE Ohio!
OKAY ... that's my exciting news for today!!! Thanks for letting me share it with you!!! Sorry for the bad photos ... I took them with my cell phone since I didn't think about taking my camera with me.

Blogaversary Candy

My online friend Amy Johnson is about to celebrate her 1 Year Blogaversary ... Yippee ... and she's offering up some awesome Blog Candy for the event. Please hurry on over and wish her well!
Congrats Amy ... wishing you even more fun in the upcoming year!!!
*********************
Stop back later when I'll have some EXCITING news & photos to share with you (on a personal note this time)! Have I peeked your interest????

Penny's Challenge #6 - Sketch

Welcome to another Penny's Challenges challenge! Today we have a fun sketch to play with! I went a little "outside the box" but still kept the sketch concept recognizable.

This little gal is called "Hanna in Daddy's Shoes" and I've made her a red-head because she reminded me of my own daughter when she was little and was always walking around in ANY shoes that happened to be sitting around.

Here are the material details:

Stamps: Great Impressions
Papers: Whisper White, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Daisy D's designer paper, Chocolate Chip
Inks: Versafine Black
Accessories: Creations by Penny image, Martha Stewart picket fence border punch, Martha Stewart bird punch, Prisma pencils, Gamsol, Fiskars swivel craft knife

Please pop over to Penny's Challenges to check out all the details ... then come create with us!! For even more inspiration, check out my co-design team members blogs listed below.

Delicious Doodles ...

I recently realized that one of my co-team members on the Digital-Ink Co. design team ... Teresa Sherman (Teri's Cards and Toppers) has her own little digi store and adorably cute images. You can check out her store here - Delicious Doodles.

Well, of course I just had to make a few purchases and here are a couple of cards I found time to create early this morning. Isn't this little snowman guy the cutest little thing!! I used Prisma pencils & Gamsol for my coloring and the papers are Pacific Point, Whisper White and Basic Grey (Wisteria) designer paper. The snowflakes were from an EKSuccess snowflake punch and I've used Nestabilities for the Snowman Circle & scallop circle mat. My sentiment is by Sarasota Stamps ... stamped onto Whisper White with Pacific Point ink ... matted with Pacific Point and all cut out using my Fiskars swivel craft knife.

For card #2 I decided to make a country scene where this little horsey might reside. The background scene was created using Stampscapes stamps and I've used Prisma Pencils/Gamsol for coloring. I started out with a piece of Whisper White paper cut to size ... then using sponge pods, smeared soft sky ink on the top and old olive ink on the bottom. Then I stamped the cabin, extra pines on the right side and the geese in the sky. After coloring my horsey, I used my swivel craft knife to cut him out and dimensional tape to pop him up. If you'd like to read the sentiment, please click on the image for a larger view.
I also have the Bat and Bunny images of which I haven't had time to create with yet ... but I'm hoping my creations have inspired you enough to jump on over to Teri's blog and store. Thanks for stopping by today ... please stop back tomorrow for PENNY'S CHALLENGES, Week #6.

I'm HUMBLED ~ Awards

I'm thrilled to have received these awards from two new co-design team members. It's so heart warming to know that such talented ladies are inspired as much by my work as I am by theirs!!
The "I {heart} Your Blog" award came from Cheryl (CherCroppin's Stamp Pad) who is on the Penny's Challenge design team with me ... and ... also from Kim (Memories In Thyme) who shares a seat on the Digital-Ink Co. design team with me. Both are very talented ladies and I would appreciate it if you pop over to their blogs, check out their work and say Hello!
Cheryl also was kind enough to honor me with the "I Like Your Style" award! Isn't it awesome!! Now the rules for the "I Like Your Style" award is to pass it on to 5-7 bloggers who inspire you and that's going to take me a little more time to decide and post.
Thank you ladies for your kindness and support! I will pick recipients for these awards and come back later with that information!

A "Fairy" Simple Post ...

I've always been intrigued with "silouette images" and couldn't wait to design with this awesome digital stamp. This digi was created by Stitchy Stamps (Kathy) and is available at Digital-Ink Co.

Being a silouette, my first instinct was to stick with the basic Black & White layout with a pop of color ... for instance Red as I have used here. OR maybe Teal, Purple, Lime Green ... well, you get the picture! After laying out my pieces, I didn't like ALL the black & white so I added the red flourishes to the striped designer paper.

NOW for something a wee bit different using the same Fairy2 Silouette image by Stitchy Stamps. I put this together from pieces out of my scrapbasket. Although you can't see it very well, I've used my Creative Memories Decorative Cutter for the background designer paper to give it a little more movement. Again, I didn't like the solid black color so stamped a flourish onto it with Stazon White to mimic the wings of the silouette. The white Nestabilites oval had been sponged with orange for a different project but was put aside at that point in time and works perfectly for what I was trying to achieve here!!

Using my trusty Fiskars Swivel Craft Knife, I cut around my silouette image before attaching with dimensional tape ... in my mind, it kind of gives you the illusion she's walking out of a mist ... can you see it????? I used a Martha Stewart floral punch with another scrap of designer paper to create my embellishments. I can't wait to see what else I can come up with using this digital stamp.

Well, that's it for today! Ooh wait ... please be sure to check back on Monday, Sept. 7th (I know it's a holiday but stamping continues on ... hahaha!) for the very FIRST challenge on the Digital-Ink Co. Challenge Blog. I'll be there ... hope you are too!!

Have a WONDERUL, FUN-FILLED, RELAXING weekend!!

Stamp Simply #103 & Stamps and Smiles

Oh my gosh .. can you believe it's Friday again already! I know, I say that every Friday but they are coming and going so fast ... that means I'm getting OLDER ... FASTER!!!! YIKES!!

For the Stamp Simply Challenge today, the topic is OVERSTAMPED SENTIMENTS ... merely stamp your sentiment OVER your image. I've decided to stamp my image & sentiment over designer paper from the K&Co. Ancestry 12x12 pack. VERY simple and yet very striking (in my opinion)!

My only embellishments used on this card are the Colorbok metal dots in the upper & lower corners. The floral stamp is from the SU Oh So Lovely set and the sentiment is by Art Impressions. I used a blender pen with Ruby Red ink to color in my poppies and filled in the center with a Creative Memories gold metallic pen.

Don't forget when uploading to either SplitcoastStampers or Papercraft Planet ... be sure to use keyword: ssnotime103.

**********************

Another creation I would like to share with you today is for The Fresh Batch blog ... Stamps and Smiles Weekly Sketch Challenge.

I've turned things around a bit but you can still get the drift of the layout. Here are the details:

Stamps: JustRite (Thinking of You)
Papers: Brocade Blue, Almost Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Basic Grey Wisteria designer paper
Inks: Versafine Black
Accessories: Martha Stewart flower punch, various Stickles, Hobby Lobby satin ribbon, Nestabilities (classic ovals), dimensional tape

I don't think I've ever made a card that used this many paper flowers ... but I really like how it looks! I'll have to remember this layout!! Again, when uploading to SplitcoastStampers or Papercraft Planet don't forget to use the keyword ... in this case it would be SASSC31.

************

ON A SAD NOTE .... I will be sending this card along to a family who lives in our neighborhood and lost their 13 year old son yesterday. Over the weekend, this young man was doing what a lot of young boys of his age do ... riding his bike with some buddies! Somehow he fell off his bike, hit his head but didn't seem too concerned ... he wasn't bleeding or in any pain. Within hours he was at Cleveland Clinic in a comma and past away yesterday afternoon.

From what I can gather, his injury was similiar to that of actor Liam Neeson's wife, who had that skiing accident last year and although it didn't seem that bad at the time ... within a few days she was gone! Please say a little prayer for the Spencer family! Thanks

Images from Friends ....

Good Friday Morning All!!

Over time, I have received images from various online friends and have finally gotten around to making a few cards with those images to share with you!!

This first creation uses an image from Marie in Sweden! I can't even remember how or when Marie & I first starting talking but somehow we discovered we were both Pittsburgh Steeler fans. And, not only did she send me this (and a few other) adorable image, but she created a Steeler card to send them in!! Isn't she sweet!!! Thanks Marie ... GO STEELERS!!

Details:

Stamps: Rosebud Rubber Stamps
Papers: Bo Bunny dp, Whisper White, Only Orange, Close to Cocoa
Inks: Versafine black, Only Orange
Accessories: Nestabilities, Making Memories brads, sponge, Creative Memories corner rounder, watercolor pencils, blender pen, crystal affects

This adorable rocking chair is an image my friend Kay Squires in Indianapolis, Indiana, sent to me! I happened to comment on an awesome group of cards she had created with this image and asked her if she would send me a few and WOW, she sent me this image and several others along with a whole lot of other goodies ... what fun!! Thanks Kay for your generosity & kindness!!

Details:

Papers: Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa, Basic Grey designer paper
Accessories: Watercolor pencils, blender pens, Nestabilities, Creative Memories corner rounder, Offray grosgrain ribbon

Last but not least ... this very whimsical image from my friend Janine Orchard in London, Ontario, Canada. While meeting up with some of the Stamp Simply ladies back in July, Janine had several different little whimsical images like this to share with us all. As most of you know, I am NOT a whimsical crafter ... so this was out of my comfort zone but was GREAT FUN to play with! How do you like the colors I came up with ??? Thanks Janine for making me "try something different" ... Waving Hi!!!

Details:
Stamps: Impression Obsession (sentiment)
Papers: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Rainbow Sherbet dp
Inks: Versafine black
Accessories: Prima flowers, Doodlebug sugar coated brads, Making Memories brads, Offray Amethyst satin ribbon, dimensional tape, detail clear embossing powder

Isn't it wonderful how we can make friends all over the world and share this wonderful craft together! I have a few others that were kind enough to share their images with me and really must get busy creating with those to share with you! I just LOVE meeting new crafting people here on the internet and am always THRILLED when I get a personal email, surprise via snail mail or even just a comment on one of my creations that I've shared here on my blog!! This is just a little token of my thanks for these ladies kindness .. I certainly wouldn't want you to think that your efforts weren't appreciated and put to good use!!! God Love Ya for being so kind!

Thanks to you too for stopping by today and letting me share! Please stop back later in the day when I hope to have today's Stamp Simply creation completed and ready to share with you!! Today Sharon has us doing "overstamped sentiments" ... should be fun!!!

My Baby is 40 ...

Tomorrow (Sept. 3rd) is actually my daughter's 40th birthday... (I was a child bride, LOL) ... but in the hopes of surprising her, WE (her friend Sandy, husband Frank, daughter Morgan and myself) put together a dinner party tonight! We were successful ... she was surprised (cried even)!! There has been a lot of things going on in her life lately and she really needed a nice surprise ... WE ... were very happy to be able to give that to her!!

Morgan works at a florist so she & Sandy took care of Balloon & Flowers! There were a LOT of balloon & flowers !! (Well done ladies!!)

It was a small group, but consisted of some of her best & closest friends. With working outside the home, starting up a business of her own, two kids in school, racing, etc. ... etc. ... there hasn't been much time left for "Carolyn"! Well tonight was "All About Carolyn" and though it was for only a couple of hours, I know she cherished each moment!! Carolyn was thrilled to see her friend Beth Bayda sitting at the table ... Beth was a god sent when Jonathan (my grandson) was a baby and I was living 4 hours away ... when she couldn't call Mom in the middle of the night, she could always call Beth!

Even though I took SEVERAL photos, I will share a few more photos with you and save the rest for Carolyn to post on her own blog! Her friend Sandy honored her with a "40" tiara and Morgan was more than happy to place it on her head!

Carolyn received several wonderful gifts from her friends ... stamping/scrapbook supplies, figurines, books of encouragement and enlightenment, birthstone earrings, and more that I can't remember at the moment, but we all cracked up laughing when she opened this pair of "reading glasses" (which she may need now that she's OLD) ... but in a Mother's Opinion ... I think they look rather attractive!!

Now these chocolate covered strawberries are MY kind of birthday present!!! But somehow I don't think she's going to share ... LOL!!! You notice she's indicating she's only going to have "ONE" ... yeah, right!!!!!

Now for my last and favorite picture! Do I have a reason to be proud or what!!! It seems like only yesterday that my dear, sweet daughter was born and here it is 40 years later ... where have the years gone!!! I am very proud of the person my daughter has become! She's a wonderful, devoted wife ... an amazingly attentive, loving mother and the best daughter any mother could ask for!!! Keep doing what you're doing my sweetheart ... because even though you doubt yourself at times ... You've Got It Right !!!!!
I LOVE YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Another COMBO card creation ...

This card was created for today's Color Throwdown Challenge and the sketch challenge over on SCS.

Here are the materials details:

Stamps: Embrace Life, Wordsworth

Papers: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Always Artichoke, Basic Grey (porcelain)

Inks: Versafine black

Accessories: Detail Clear EP, Fiskars Apron Lace Border Punch, Basic Grey Opaline Pearls, Faiser Pearls, dimensionals, Fiskars swivel craft knife

I just love how you can now find pearls in all colors and sizes! I think they make such a wonderful addition to any card! Here I've used them to accent the flower center as well as using the larger pearls for a finishing touch in the lower corner. (click on the image for a closer look)

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed this creation!! Have a wonderful day in whatever you are doing!!
