Making Tissue Box Covers . . .

What a fun time I had this morning teaching some new friends how to make Tissue Box Covers. 

I always enjoy meeting new people and learning new crafts.  These ladies are all scrapbookers and work with Creative Memories products.  If you know anything about scrapbooking ... you know all about Creative Memories and what fabulous tools & albums they have.  That is actually where I started my love for paper crafting.

I let the girls pick from a variety of 'vintage Christmas' images from Nicecrane Designs to decorate the front of their tissue boxes.  Here is MY finished product using 'A CHRISTMAS CAROL'.  We all used the same designer paper for the box but used various images to adorn the front panel.

By precutting the papers for the tissue box & lid, that left us with enough time to also make an ALTERED TABLET.  The girls really thought they were a great 'gift giving item' and I was so glad to be able to share another project with them.

I sure hope the ladies had as much fun as I did today and I hope they'll come back again!

Here's what I've come up with using today's sketches:

The designer paper as well as the Santa and ribbon 'cardstock stickers' are from the Paper Studio.  That's correct ... this image is a sticker and so is the 'checked ribbon'.  The beautiful poinsetta flower & leaves are from Petaloo.  And I've used gold Stickles around the outside edge for added sparkle.  The green with red double stitching ribbon is from Michaels.

As a proud member of Priscilla's Store Design Team, I'd like to share with you a creation I made using her dig image called "Winter Christmas Skates".  I'm very happy with the outcome of this card and I hope you are inspired by it too!  I have used a 5x7 Sizzix snowflake embossing folder for the background panel.  Prisma color markers were used for my coloring and the holly leaves are by Recollections.  The holly berries are red half pearls by Kaiser and there is gold Stickles in between the berries also.

CURB APPEAL ...

Happy Saturday Everyone!!

I've been telling my friends about the Make-Over my house is getting and thought you might like to have a peek too.  During the summer, we managed to give nearly every room a fresh coat of paint and new carpet was put in the entire upstairs.  The downstairs rooms were replaced when we moved in 8 years ago and with there only being the two of us ... only one room gets wear & tear ... the Family Room and we put a berber carpet in there and it's holding up very well.

But this past week, we were focusing on the OUTSIDE and decided to have a landscaper come and give us some ideas and work up a drawing for us and we both liked what he came up with.  It was VERY AGGRESSIVE but I think it gives the house a wonderful new look.  What do you think?

Keep in mind, these plants are only 2/3 their full size and I think that's something the original landscaper didn't take into consideration.  Come spring/summer there will be a variety of color and as the plants start to grow, I think it's going to look fabulous.  We also sprinkled SPRING bulbs all through the beds for that early pop of color in the spring.  

Did you notice we moved BOTH trees??  I really like the new location of our Jack Frost Birch tree and with a flood light shining up through it at night ... it looks fantastic.  I'm still getting used to the little apple trees new location but I think it will be okay.  Oh yea, we relocated all the outside lights too.  I'll have to get a night time photo to share with you ... it looks SO MUCH BETTER!!

BTW ... the NEW SHUTTERS were delivered yesterday ... now to get them up before winter hits!  Too windy today to tackle this task but hopefully we'll still have a few nice days before the S_ _ _ flies!!

Well that's it for me today.  I'm having 5 ladies come (for the 1st time) on Tuesday for a card making class ... so I'm trying to get everything ready ahead of time.  I'm also going to be teaching a project out at Joan's Gardens in Indiana at the end of the month so I'll getting those packets all together as well.  AND ... the craft show is coming up on Nov. 5th ... still have LOTS to do for that!  YIKES ... I'm running out of time!  Guess I'd better get busy!  HAPPY WEEKEND TO YOU!!!

I just LOVE Fall and the 'changing of the leaves' and they are just GORGEOUS all around us here in N.E. Ohio right now.  And as you cross over a bridge and look across the hillside ... it is truly FALL MAGIC!!!  Mother Nature is a true artist and her coloring is PERFECT!

I chose to dress up 'ANGELICA' in fall colors and she is helping Mother Nature with a little touch of color magic.  MY fall leaves were created by using various Tim Holtz inks on glossy white paper then cutting them out using the Spellbinder Fall Leaves dies.  My lettering was done with Creative Memories stickers.  Background paper is from the huge Cloud9 Designs 12 x 12 seasons paper pack and a touch of gold Stickles adds the sparkle.

I just LOVE how this creation came together!  I've printed the Fall Friends image out three times and popped up different parts of it for wonderful added dimension.  Coloring was done with Prismacolor Markers and the Fall Leaf behind the sentiment panel was made using Fall Paper I created with glossy paper/fall colored inks and cut using Spellbinder Fall Leaves Dies.  I've also added 'birds' to the sky using a Stampscapes Stamp.

For my second creation I decided to make a  

Birthday Treat Bag.  

I first made the card using the image named MARCY then attached it to my treat bag so it can actually be signed as normal before filling the bag with 'goodies'.  The outside birthday wish is from Studio G and I've again used a touch of Liquid Applique to add texture to the cupcake icing.  Coloring was done with Prismacolor Markers and Prima sparkle flowers were added to the topper.

Marching Band Memories

 (l.-r.  ME, Morgan, Jonathan, Carolyn)

This past Friday nite I made the trip down to Leetonia to see something that truly warmed my heart and actually brought back fond memories for myself! (I too played clarinet in the marching band of my high school ... oh so many years ago!)  Both grandkids LOVE music and have/do play instruments in their school's marching band.  With there being 5 1/2 years between them, the kids never had the opportunity to march 'together' ... UNTIL TONIGHT!!

Morgan is now a Sophomore at Kent State but was THRILLED when the band director at Leetonia School decided to have an ALUMNI NITE!   She played clarinet and was field commander her Junior/Senior years and Jon plays mellophone/french horn.  How awesome that 25 or so alumni came back to participate in the evenings events.  

Once the band marched onto the field, the alumni ran into their places to join in on playing God Bless America, Star Wars theme and Land of a Thousand Dances.  And I must say ... THEY SOUNDED AWESOME!!!  It was so nice to see them all laughing & truly enjoying the entire experience!

Carolyn has certainly played HER part for the band.  She has been a Band Booster Officer for 6 years and does an amazing job over at that concession stand!!  I can remember we had hot dogs, chips & hot chocolate when I was in the marching band .... HOLY COW ... they have hot sausage, meatball sandwiches, scallop potatoes & ham, pepperoni rolls, etc., etc.   Those kids get a MEAL when they hit the Leetonia Concession Stand!!  LOL!  

She rarely gets to see the kids march because she's busy over at the concession stand ... but tonight she told them they were on their own for awhile ... she was going over in the stands to watch her kids perform on the field TOGETHER for probably the FIRST & LAST time!! 

(We got LOTS of photos ... but I'll only share a few here!)

One last photo to share with you.  Here's Morgan and her friend Tina who was also a commander and came in for tonight's festivities.  LOVE those SMILES!

A CHALLENGE BETWEEN FRIENDS

A short while back my friend Lana ... Blest With Stamps and I spent a day crafting then decided to go to lunch and stop by the local Goodwill store.  Lana has an awesome knack of turning Goodwill (low cost) items into AMAZING works of art.  Yep ... she's certainly the Queen of Trash to Treasure!

Anyways on with my story and the purpose of this posting.  While looking through all the different glass, wood & metal wares on the shelves, Lana came across TWO clocks of the same style and that is when we decided to CHALLENGE each other with altering the clocks but not let each other know what our creative thoughts were until this week.

This past Monday, Lana & I decided to link up at Archiver's (One Day Only 43% off designer paper sale) and that is when we excitedly shared our 'altered creations' and WOW how DIFFERENT the SAME item can be!

First I will show you how I decided to alter this clock.  I used last years Graphic45 Christmas designer paper, a little fancy cutting and some Stickles.

CDAC progressive fun & FALL Decorating

HAPPY Friday to you all!  

I don't know about where you live, but here in N.E. Ohio it is a GORGEOUS FALL DAY!!!   This morning was very cool & crisp and this afternoon is bright & sunny!  Makes one take a deep breathe and appreciate all the goodness God has given!!

Here I have used Prismacolor markers for my coloring and have added bat & ant stickers as embellishments.  The ribbon is from Michaels and a scrap of Cloud9 Designs dp for the bottom panel.

 

This cute little guy is from Sew Many Cards and I have used the same elements for my creation as I used in the first two.  Spellbinders classic & scallop ovals were used for matting of this cutie pie!!

I still have a couple more images to use for this challenge.  They are already colored and ready to go ... here's hoping I find the time to turn them into cards!

The reason I didn't get all five of my cards created for the above challenge is that I was in the mood to do some Fall Decorating and surprise hubby when he comes home from his business trip tonight.  I haven't decorated for fall in several years.  After hubby's cancer diagnosis and going through all the treatments & stem cell transplant ... decorating was NOT a priority.  BUT ... now that he's been cancer free for 2-1/2 years... HOORAY! ... it's time once again to have fun and decorate our beautiful home.

Of course, there's going to be decorating done on the outside also ... once the landscapers are finished with our landscaping REDO which is going on RIGHT NOW!!!  (I'll be sharing that with you on another posting).
