Welcome back friends!
We are so excited to have Jen Schoolcraft as our guest designer today!
I've created the background for today's card(s) using 1" strips of card stock that I felt matched the color scheme ... although now they look much brighter! I really struggle with color challenges sometimes as I think I must be going color blind in my old age! LOL (they never look the same when I'm done!) I felt that the beige/mauve color was too bright so I sponged over each piece with some white dye ink to help tone it down.
After creating my color pieced background, I die cut a white panel using an older Cheery Lynn Designs Chicken Wire Frame (FRM 144) and popped it up over top. Also used on today's creation are Poppystamps 'Jumbled Happy Birthday' (#1472) and Altenew 'Springtime Azalea Stamp & Die set'.
Here's a peek at the inside of my card ...

It turned out that I had cut more 1" strips then needed so of course, as not to waste, I created a second card. What fun to get 2 for 1 today!
I had this Memory Box 'Curved Get Well Soon' die (#99356) cut and laying on the work table so finally gave it a home. I die cut a sprig of Sue Wilson - Petite Vinery and added a few prima flowers with Nuvo crystal drop centers to balance out the design.
I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun ... here's the link for you one more time ...
As always . . .
Two gorgeous card Darlene, love them both.xxx
ReplyDeleteHow cool! The strip background looks great through the die and on it's own. It makes me feel guilty for all those little pieces I've been throwing away!
ReplyDeletealways great when you can get two cards, I love the pretty flower on the first one and your fancy swirls with the flowers on the second card!
ReplyDeleteThis card is just so happy and bright! I love it! And great use of those little left over pieces. Jill
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE! Makes me happy just looking at it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love that chicken wire. I always think it looks good with flowers. Your second card was a nice surprise! Very pretty! It's hard to match colors exactly, but I believe you did an excellent job of it!
ReplyDeleteOooh, well I love the bright colors! And your 1" strip pattern is delightful. Both cards are great, I especially like how you shadowed the sentiment in the first card with a second layer. XOX
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! What a great idea and way to use up colored snippets! Love the trellis look over the first one! Great work, Darlene!
ReplyDeleteYour colour matching is just perfect. Both cards are absolutely lovely. This is also a great way to use up some of your scraps! Beautifully done!
