Inspiration Station Challenge

Hello Friends!

I hope the year is off to a good start for you!  We can only hope that 2022 is far better than the past couple of years as far as normalcy is concerned.  To help keep myself sane, I'm having fun on my new design team spot over on the Inspiration Station Challenge blog.

Here's today's inspiration . . .

Please remember, to be eligible for the Prize, you will need to *Let us know on your blog or Social Media Post how the Photo Inspired You*.

When I saw this image, my first thought was sitting with one of my long time friends sipping on a cup of hot chocolate and just chit chatting.  She & I have been friends for more than 50 years and I can't tell you how much her friendship means to me.  She's a true treasure!  So, I decided it was time I sent her a 'surprise' in the mail ... hence today's card.

  • I started out by creating my background panel using Tim Holtz Oxide Distress inks.  Then I splattered on some 'snow' using an artist brush & white acrylic paint that was thinned out with water.

  • From my scrap box I spotted this extra strip of buffalo plaid paper that was left over from my sister's Christmas card and thought it would work perfectly.  I did tear it in half for a rugged edge and now I have another piece for another card.

  • The sentiment comes from a Simon Says Stamp set called 'Thoughtful Messages' (SSS101740).

Thanks so much for stopping by today and sharing in my excitement!

As always . . .

  6. Oh Darlene what a lovely and fun card. Your friend is going to love it. That will be "happy mail" for sure. I have friends that I have seen since I left South Africa, 23 years ago now. Would love nothing more than to be able to sit with each one of them and enjoy a cuppa and catch up. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Have a lovely week.

  7. I love your mugs with the candy canes! What a great die set that can be used for many occasions. A cozy and cute card with the chilly background and buffalo plaid like a warm blanket. We do need our happy diversions and I'm sure glad to have this craft and the other things I love to do at home.

  10. Well I'm going to check out that challenge, sounds a good one! Love your card and your story. You know I had a friend, shes my son's godmother. We'd been friends since forever and never had a cross word. We were like sisters. After 40 years she walked out of our lives without a word... Broke our hearts. That was 20+ years ago then just before Christmas she got in touch asking to meet up. I was so shocked! The thing is, I can never forget the hurt it caused and I still see that in my son's eyes when her name is mentioned. Life moved on, so no, there will be no meeting... Stay well my friend
