Challenge Fun Time . . .

WOW!  Are you as busy as I am???  

What's up with that?!?

I finally decided to set everything else aside and play a couple of my favorite challenges. 

Every Tuesday, over on Splitcoast Stampers, there is a challenge at the CRAFTY SECRETS forum and this week Joanne is our hostess and she's asked us to

PIN UP

That's right ... use any type of PINS on your creation along with your Crafty Secrets/Heartwarming Vintage products for this CSSC198 challenge.  Could be stick pins, safety pins, or even an image of pins from their 'Sew Special' stamp set.

I have used stick pins that my mother gave me several months ago figuring I'd find a use for them in my crafting someday.  Guess today is that day!  The image is from the Crafty Secrets Christmas Booklet.  The designer paper is from the Cloud9 Designs Holiday 12 x 12 pack, ribbon from Michael's, Poinsetta from Petaloo and the corner's are from my new Spellbinder "Fanciful Holiday" die set.  A touch of Gold Stickles was added here and there for a touch of sparkle.

The other challenge I always find intriguing is the one at Joan's Gardens.  She and Selma come up with some of the most fabulous challenge ideas that really make me think!  This week we were to:

•  Make a card and/or tag using some kind of animal. 
• Use a die  
• Create a winter theme 
• Do some kind of embossing

 For my card, I have used the same background paper that I used on my CSSC card above.  The Heartfelt Creations tree was stamped with Versamark on white cardstock then embossed with Ranger 'evergreen' embossing powder.  The ornaments were created using red Stickles.  My snowflakes were created using sparkle paper from a DCWV mat stack pack with the Spellbinder Shapeabilities 'Create a Flake Three' die set. Rudolph came from the Spellbinder "Fanciful Holiday" die set.  I've given Rudolph his famous red nose with red Stickles and his eye is a Stampendous Diamond Dot.

Guess I'd better get back to work!  I have had several requests for cards/ tissue box covers/ gift card holders & altered tablets before the holidays.  How awesome is that!  So glad folks like my work enough to want to share them with others.

Here is my creation for the "priscillastyles" design team using one of Priscilla's latest digi images called 

"Catching Snowflakes"

The background paper for this creation is the Paper Studio and the snowflakes have been punched from scrap snowflake papers using the Martha Stewart snowflake punch.  Diamond Stickles adorns the centers of each snowflake as well as the snowflakes on the image.  Prismacolor markers were used for my coloring and the satin ribbon is from Michaels.  I have also used the Martha Stewart icicle border punch and added diamond Stickles on the icicles.

Nicecrane Designs Creations

Happy Monday Everyone!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  

We were able to get the NEW shutters on the house on Saturday.  It looks SO GOOD!  With the new landscaping & shutters, our 13 year old house looks like new again!  Great curb appeal too!   When it stops raining, I'll go out and snap a photo to share with you and see what you think!

But for now, I thought I'd quickly share with you a few cards I created last week 

for Ignacio at Nicecrane Designs.

Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge - Christmas Theme

Did you realize today is:

Here we are at the end of another week!  Christmas is right around the corner ... and with that in mind, Dawn over at Wags 'n Whiskers has challenged us to create something using a

CHRISTMAS THEME

I have used the adorable SWEET DANNI AND BELLA digi image for today's creation.  She has been colored using Prismacolor Markers, the tree is from the Spellbinder's Nestled Trees die set and the tree skirt was created using a piece of lace.  The garland on the tree was created by twisting Scor-tape, adding to the tree then cover with Gold embossing powder & heat embossing.  The star was made with gold metallic cardstock and a Creative Memories star punch.  The background paper is from the Cloud9 Designs holiday 12x12 pack.

The Sisterhood of Crafters

WOW ... how blessed am I to have all of you wonderful people come visit and comment on my creations!  For THAT ALONE, I am VERY THANKFUL!!

I went two different ways with my interpretation!

First, of course, is a card to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.  I do so much coloring these days with all the digis I work with, that today I decided to 'get inky'.  Here are the items used to create this card:

Paper:  the Paper Studio designer paper, white & green cardstock

Inks:  Tim Holtz 'Brushed Cordoroy' distress ink, Momento 'Bamboo Leaves' ink, Versafine Black

Stamps:  Penny Black (pine branches), Inkadinkado (turkey), Anita's (sentiment)

Accessories:  Michael's gingham ribbon, Prismacolor markers, Whisper's Stroke Markers, sponge applicators

Secondly, is a simple yet beautiful Thank You card which would fit any occasion! This lovely digi image is from one of our very own 'Sistah' Teri at Delicious Doodles.  The embossing folder is Sizzix and the zig-zag stitched ribbon is from JoAnn's.

Sharing my creations . . .

I had so much fun making the 1st pizza box for the challenge over at Joan's Gardens, I decided to make another one!

What a beautiful day it has been here in N.E. Ohio today!  It gave me the opportunity to finally get the deck furniture put away and get ALL those Morning Glory vines pulled down and thrown away!  WOW ... they were climbing to the sky!!  I actually had to get the step-ladder out to reach to tops.

Now I'm headed out to dinner with a friend then back to getting caught up on my DT work!  It's really hard to hide in my cave with it's so beautiful outside!!

A New Challenge at Joan's Gardens

With all of the hustle & bustle of getting ready for last Saturday's Craft Show, I didn't want to forget to participate in the new challenge at Joan's Gardens.   Joan's designer, Selma Stevenson has created & shared the instructions for a mini pizza box and although the pizza box idea has been around for a long time, I have NEVER made one and now's my chance!  All the details for this week's challenge can be seen HERE.

So what do you think?  I'm so tickled with the outcome, I plan on making several more!  With the craftshow still utmost in my mind ... I think these would be a fabulous idea for next year's show.  What a 'special' box to house that new ornament gift or a pair of earrings for that special girlfriend ... there are endless ideas for this little gem of a box!!

2011 Craft Show

Hello Everyone and HAPPY SUNDAY!

DID YOU REMEMBER TO TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK??

Well I didn't and have just realized that I've been up for over an hour and it's just now 6:30 a.m.!  YIKES!!  LOL!!  (Going to be a long day!)

Anyways, yesterday was the big GREEN HIGH SCHOOL CRAFT SHOW that I've annually participated in for the past three years.  It's a lot of work and you don't make a lot of money, but I make out OKAY and truly enjoy seeing all the people and get a lot of positive feedback from them. 

This year, besides ALL my cards, I also had altered tablets, gift card holders, refrigerator magnets and tissue box covers for sale.  The BIGGEST SELLERS were the tissue box covers and gift card holders.   With the holiday season approaching, the gift card holders are always a big hit and I was hoping the holiday tissue box holders would be a good seller too ... AND THEY WERE! 

 

I didn't, however, limit the tissue boxes to just Christmas.  Many people liked the 'WINTER' boxes with snowflakes & snowmen on them ... figuring they could use them for a longer period of time I'm sure.  Even the everyday Boy's Room, Horses & Birds were good sellers.

I was SO THRILLED when friend & fellow crafter, Kim Bradfield offered to come help me set up and sit with me.  She was a HUGE help with sales and it was just plain FUN to have her there to keep me company!  THANKS KIM!!!   
As I said, Kim is also a crafter and she brought along some FABULOUS creations to share with me.  She has an upcoming craftshow and was sweet enough to offer to take the remaining tissue boxes with her to try and sell for me.  How awesome is that!   I just LOVED several of the items she shared and will certainly be hounding her to show me how to make them once things settle down a bit.  Already thinking about next years show!

Well ... guess I'll see if hubby's ready to go out to breakfast!  He's going to be out of town all week so NO CRAFTING FOR ME TODAY!  I think I'll just spend the day with him!  After all, I'll have all week to spend in my 'cave' crafting.  Have a great day everyone!

I've added a 'touch' of color along with my B/W monochromatic theme.  Sorry ... just couldn't do B/W without a touch of color and the RED blood drops seems like an appropriate 'spooky' touch!

HOLIDAYS ....

This week's Crafty Secrets Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers is being hosted by Jan and she's challenged us to ANYTHING CHRISTMAS!  Well, since I'm still working on tissue box covers for this weekend's local craft show, I used an image from the Crafty Secrets 'Vintage Christmas' stamp set and made this tissue box cover.

How thrilled was I to learn that it was showcased and commented on over the the Splitcoast Stampers Facebook Page.  This is a real honor for me and I was also thrilled to get a comment from Sandy Redburn (owner of Crafty Secrets) letting me know she will also be showcasing this creation in her upcoming newsletter.  HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

One more quick photo to share with you today is my granddaughter, Morgan.  She and her 'gang' spent Halloween night BOWLING!  Yep, a group of them dressed up and went to the 10 pm to 2 am bowling at the local alley.  She had a BLAST!! 
Glad she was able to stay awake for her job interview the next morning!!  Good News!  She GOT THE JOB ... starting tomorrow, she's a server at the Applebee's in Boardman, Ohio.  That should help with college expenses.  GOOD LUCK MO!!!

Okay ... hubby's home and HUNGRY!!  This will be last time we eat dinner out on the deck!  Temps are dropping so I'd better get the furniture put back in storage until next spring!   Uuugh!

Round #6 at the CDAC . . .

 . . . Progressive Challenge and what fabulous digi images we once again have to play with!  If you are new to my blog,  CDAC (Crafter's Digital Art Center) is obviously a site ALL ABOUT DIGITAL IMAGES and they have some fabulous fun & challenges you'll want to be a part of!  Currently we are in the 6th round in the progressive challenge and it's NOT to late to get involved ... click HERE for all the details.

I have used THREE of the FIVE digis offered to the past players.  Hopefully I'll find time to get the other two images colored and turned into cards before the deadline. 

 This first card utilizes an adorable digi image from Designed 2 Delight.  I have used a scrap piece of holiday paper for the background and my coloring was done with chalks and Prismacolor markers.  The snowflakes are Martha Stewart ... the sentiment is Inkadinkado and the ovals were cut using my Creative Memories cutting system.  A touch of sparkle was added using quickie glue and DecoArt Glamour Dust. 
 

 For my second creation, I have kept it simple to showcase these beautiful candles from Daisy Doodles.  After coloring them with Whispers & Prismacolor markers, I used my swivel craft knife to cut them out.  This card is 6x6 and I've simply used a piece of last year's Graphic45 Christmas 8x8 paper for the background.  A little trimming was done to create the top card shape and the lower border was cut from the same piece of designer paper.  These beautiful candles were also popped up using dimensional tape.
 

There's NO PLACE LIKE HOME when the holidays come around and that was my first thought when I began creating with this sweet digi from Ginger Loft.  My coloring was done with chalks with the exception of the trees/bushes which were colored with a Prismacolor marker.  The gingham ribbon is from Michaels and the birds are a Martha Stewart punch.  I have rounded the top corners using my Creative Memories corner rounder ... just for a little different affect.  And the holiday verse if from the SU  'Home for Christmas' stamp set.  Hope you like it.

The annual craft show is coming up this coming Saturday and I'm not sure I'm ready!  Guess I'd better get off the computer and FIGURE IT OUT!  LOL!!  Thanks so much for stopping by and PLEASE ... come check out CDAC and join in our fun!!  Hope to see you there!!

I chose to use a new Heartfelt Creations Stamp which I purchased over the weekend at the workshop held in Indiana at Joan's Gardens for my MMSC creation.

The designer paper is from a holiday 12x12 Cloud9 Designs pack.  The ribbon is from Michael's and I've used gold Stickles to 'decorate' my tree.  Tim Holtz 'barn red' distress ink was sponged around the image for a holiday glow.  Gold metallic cardstock was also used for my matting.

This next card is my design team creation for the "priscillastyles" store.  When you pop over to the MMSC, you will also see below the sketch posting, creations using the sketch & designed using Priscilla's awesome digi images.  This one is called "Merry Christmas Wreath" and is a set of TWO digi images.

The designer paper is from ' Paper Pizazz' and I've colored my image using Prismacolor markers.  The beautiful poinsetta's are from Petaloo and I've used gold Stickles to border my image.  The holiday sentiment is Hero Arts and the snowflake stamp is from SU and was stamped with SU Soft Sky blue ink.
