A box of cards for my mom . . .

Good Afternoon Evening my friends!

I've finally found a few minutes to jump onto my computer ... check out all my emails and share a little something with you here on my blog.  

Today was the day for my scheduled hair cut/color and pedicure (boy I look forward to this day more and more!!).  Then, since I was in the area of my family, I linked up with my Mom and daughter for lunch.  

While at grandson's birthday party on Saturday my Mom asked me to make a box of cards that she could send to a friend in Texas.  Nothing fancy she said ... just make a variety.  I ask her how many she wanted and she said "Oh, 12 aught to do it!" ... Well, of course since she is an hour & a half drive away from me and I was going to be seeing her for lunch today I just had to get busy and start creating.  

Here's a few of those cards ...

We are always in need of Birthday cards so I included several in this pack.  And, since I didn't have a lot of time, I chose to use design paper from my scrap bin and dies.  Worked PERFECTLY!

One for the Boys with Crafty Secrets

Hello my friends!  

I'm back this afternoon with a fun card to share which I made for my grandson's 16th birthday last week!

My 'kids' are RACERS and that includes the grandkids.  So it was only fitting that I would make Jon a card with CARS and metal looking stuff on it!  Now mind you, he is NOT into this type of old, hot rod car ... he's more of a truck, SUV, dragster kind of kid.  (see photo & video below)  But I knew the fact that it had cars on it, he'd appreciate my efforts.

I have used the Crafty Secrets 'Car Classics' which is now available in digital form at Crafty Vintage Girl.  By using the digital files, it makes it really easy to manipulate the images in size and spacing to create a scene as I have on this card front. 

I've used the Sizzix 'diamond plate' embossing folder and silver metallic cardstock to create the 'metal' look on this card.  (could NOT think of the name of that stuff [diamond plate] and had to call daughter Carolyn to get it before I went crazy!  LOL!)

Again I have turned this A6 size card into a gift card holder card.
Base card is cut at 6 1/4" x 11 and scored at 4 1/2" and 9".  This gives you a 2" gift card pocket on the inside to hold a gift card or cash.  If you'd prefer, you can cut it at a 10" length which would give you only a 1" pocket.

This beautiful background paper comes from my new 'favorite' the Paper Studio Kirby Teesdale Studio pack.  Isn't it awesome!  I simply added this fun 'Stampabilities' verse with matching cardstock mattings, a Cheery Lynn Designs flourish and Hobby Lobby flower ... VIOLA!  

Doesn't get much easier than that!  
I decided to leave the inside of this card blank because I think it could be used for a variety of occasions!  I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun and by all means, if you need inspiration, be sure to check out the amazing creations by my team mates!!

Morning All!

Well here we are in another new month and that means the start of the new MONTHLY challenge at Shelly's Images.  

This month is a fun challenge called ROLL 'EM.

Hello my friends!

I was in such a hurry to get a post ready to share my daughter's birthday yesterday (trying to be sneaky and have it come live JUST as she was driving in ... she sees my blog posts on her phone) that I TOTALLY FORGOT to share with you the card I made for her.  So ... I'm back again today to do that!!

I actually pulled this card together while she was on her way.  

She lives an hours drive away so I knew I had time. 

The background paper is REALLY OLD DCWV that I think I've had since I first started scrapbooking/card making.  But I knew it was colors she would like.  Pretty quick/simple ... easy/peasy design.

Happy Birthday Carolyn !!!

Today is my 'baby girl's' birthday!  And she is such a SPECIAL lady!!

She has grown into a wonderful person, woman, mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter & friend!

There is nothing my daughter won't do for her family & God!

 Frank & Carolyn have been married over 20 years and even though they have been through some tough times ... they got through it together and became a stronger married couple because of it!  What a wonderful example they have been and continue to be for their children. 

In the past few years Carolyn has gotten involved in running the Warrior Dash 5K with obstacles and other races for charity & good health.   This year her son Jonathan (16 on the 5th) ran it with her ... along with friend Theresa!  WELL DONE!!

A very HANDS ON Mom ... Carolyn gets involved in the many facets of her children's lives ... schooling, chores, life's lessons and yes ... FUN STUFF TOO!! 

I am SO PROUD of you Carolyn!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY and MANY, MANY more!!!

Anyone who knows me is aware that I do a couple of craft shows in the Fall of each year and with that in mind, I'm working on many cards, gift card holders, tissue box covers, etc.  

SO ... today I'm working on ...

Full Size Christmas Card - Gift Card Holder Cards.

Other than my card 'sets' which are A2 sized, I've gone to making A6 size cards mainly.  Which I cut from an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock at 6 1/4" and 9" ... folded at 4 1/2".

While in bed the other night I was thinking ... why not leave that extra 2" on the end of the card, score it and make it into a gift card holder card!!  SO THAT'S WHAT I'M SHARING WITH YOU TODAY!!!

 

  For my 1st card I've used medium blue cardstock for my base card which I thought looked 'wintery' with the Crafty Secrets CD#5 Retro Christmas pattern paper I chose. I even used some of my left over scraps to punch out snowflakes for the inside cover. 

My cover image is another one of my FAVORITE holiday stamp sets called 'Winter Wishes' #DAS-L46 which is now available in DIGITAL form giving you even more flexibility when creating.  This set brings back wonderful childhood memories for me since my sisters and I spent a LOT OF TIME outside with Mom & Dad enjoying every new snowfall by building a snowman!!  I've had this set for awhile now and can't believe I'd never inked it up!  Well ... today's the day!!!

Other items used on this card are:  Martha Stewart Icicle punch, Memory Box Snowflake corner die, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers for coloring and Stickles 'Waterfall' for sparkle.

For my 2nd card I went with a little more of a nostalgic look by using Crafty Secrets CD#6 'Vintage' Christmas pattern paper and tags.

My my inside sentiment I've used the same stamp set as above.  Sparkle was created by doodling with Stickles 'Holly'.  The red bow on the card front is from the Cheery Lynn Designs #DL143 Ornamental Wreath & Bow die set.  After die cutting from red card stock, I cut the bottom streamers off and moved them more to the sides under the bow so as not to hide the top of this adorable tag!

Inside for my gift card flap, I chose to punch this adorable snowman/tree border with a Martha Stewart punch I purchased several years ago.  Remember, if you want to punch a border, do that before you put your Scor-tape on the sides to hold the panel in place for your pocket.

I just LOVE the images on this paper ... I've used it over and over again in SO MANY ways!!!

Now, last but not least, for my 3rd example today I've created a card with a little more 'modern' look/style but still using papers from these two FABULOUS Christmas CDs.

Three Cheers for Teachers!!

Happy Sunday Evening All!

I had a few moments to create in my cave this evening and wanted to be sure and play along with the current Dare To Be Sassy challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs.

This week it's a Labor Day theme.  

Create a card or project representing a profession or type of work.

Well, Labor Day has always meant the start of a new school year to me, so I've created a card for a teacher! I've left the inside blank so it could be used any time throughout the year to relay a message.

This was truly a QUICK creation.  I colored my Sassy Studio Designs 'Professor S' Sassy using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and did some fussy cutting with my Fiskars swivel craft knife!

My background paper as well as the chalkboard image and sentiment are from Craft Secrets.   I've simply popped up 'Professor S' with xPress It Foam Mounting tape to give her a little more dimension.

Well, hubby's not feeling very well so I'd best go spend a little time with him to see if I can do anything to make him feel more comfortable.  Nothing serious ... mainly just a summer cold, but sometimes those can be the worst!!  He's an excellent patient so I really don't mind 'waiting' on him!
