Sisterhood of Crafters - Trees
Hello dear friends!
It's time once again for a new challenge over
on the Sisterhood of Crafters Blog!
Our hostess today is Diane and the theme she has chosen is:
TREES
Here's what I have to share ...
A simple note card is what I decided on today.
I've created my background sky using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks
and my tree line was created using the Memory Box 'Fresh Pine Landscape' die
purchased at the Dies R Us Store.
I had some extra frames cut from the
and thought it would bring more focus to this scene.
And, lastly, my sentiment. It is from a stamp set by Stampscapes. This particular stamp comes from the Scenic Sentiment Stamp set #4.
They have some amazing stamps to create scenes ... I just love them and they are always
perfect for masculine cards. Be sure to check 'em out
As you can see, I used another scenery stamp by Stampscapes on the inside.
I hope you'll come join in our challenge fun at The Sisterhood of Crafters!

Dies used on today's creation are:
There weren't too many steps to this creation!
After die cutting my cottage from white card stock,
I adhered it to a panel of black card stock and fussy cut
a narrow border around the image. I added the popped out snowflakes
back into my scene above the cottage. (can't waste you know! lol)
Here's a peek at the inside . . .
(will add sentiment later)
and check out all of the fabulous dies available.

Quick Holiday Cards
Hello Friends!
My goodness but time is flying and I'm still in need
of many more holiday cards! YIKES!!
Today Beverly Cole (Artsystamper) offered up a fabulous Pine Needle
image over on the Artsystamper Art Group. You can actually get this image
for your own by joining the FB group and commenting on her post ... she'll email it
right out to you for FREE!!!
It is actually ONE pine needle but I copy/pasted it over & over to create my
pine needle border ... turning the image upside down & right side up to create
the fullness of the border ... what do you think?
Also from Bev's Etsy Shop I've used the following sets:
From this set I've used the cocoa mug and positioned Santa on the front!
The gingerbread man, the candy canes and the sentiment.
The sentiment is actually the two words together but I used it twice,
cropping it to create individual words so I could position them as you see it on the card
vs side by side.
I've used all .png pre colored images in Word10 to create this card.
From this set as you can see, I've used the pre colored Blue Jay & the Chickadee
From this set I actually grabbed the blue ribbon bow.
Once I created the scene as I wanted it to look, I printed it out onto 4x6 photo glossy paper, matted and adhered it to a blue card stock base card which I then added 'snow' using a white gelly roll pen. I have actually saved this 4x6 in my document files so I can print & create more quick cards if I get down to the wire and don't have the time to create other from scratch (a real time saver)!
THEN ... I decided to change the ribbons to RED and enlarge the Blue Jay just a bit and created this card ... (one is never enough for me! LOL) and these changes took a matter of minutes!
Yes, I also saved this file too for future use!
I had SO MUCH fun creating these cards and other cards using Bev's digital images!
You really owe it to yourself to check out her Etsy Shop ... TheArtsystamperShop! OH and did you know she also has an Artsystamper Challenge Blog? I hope you'll come check it out and play along! It's an Anything Goes w/theme challenge and you could WIN one of her stamp sets for your very own!! They are SO MUCH fun to create with!!
Well, that's it for me today!
Hope you have a FABULOUS day ahead!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Something Different . . .
Hello Friends ...
I'm away in PA today enjoying breakfast with 'old' High School friends and taking mom out to buy a new washing machine! But last night I spent a little time in the cave just 'playing around'! I saw a technique over on Darnell's Blog and thought it looked pretty cool and wanted to give it a try!
What she had created ended up not working out for the challenge she was going for but I thought her technique was still pretty cool so I made a couple cards! I watched the video and tried the actual Oxidized Metal Technique ... but it turned out to be a real mess and didn't work like they said it would ... So, I'm sticking with Darnell's technique!
I used silver metallic paper and alcohol inks. I probably am not using the proper paper
for the alcohol inks since it was pretty wet so I put another sheet of silver paper on top and slid them around. When I pulled them apart they were both beautiful (should have STOPPED there!) but no, it was still wet along the edge so I used yet another sheet and then it came out ok but not nearly as pretty as the first time I did it!! So now I'm stuck with using these panels ... such as they are!
After I was sure my panels were dry, I ran each one through a different
holiday embossing folder. Then turned them into card fronts.
This second card didn't turn out nearly as nice as I had hoped!
Can you see the deer down in the corner in front of the lamp posts?
And of course, you can see the smudge on my stamped sentiment ... after I stamped
it I saw there was a small piece of lint on the stamp ... Grrr!
Should have noticed it BEFORE I stamped it onto my card ... oh well, again, too late now!
I don't think I'll be sending these cards to anyone since I'm not very proud of them
but I did want to at least share them to give you a new idea that hopefully
you will do better with than I did! LOL
That's it for me!
Hope you have a FABULOUS day ahead!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Double D - What is your Christmas Style?
Hello Dear Friends!
It's time once again for a new challenge over on the Double D Challenge Blog!
I'm hosting today and as you can see by my blog title ... the theme is:
What is Your Christmas Style?
Traditional? Modern? Elegant? All White? Vintage?
Here's the mood board I've created to inspire you . . .
I happen to be an old fuddy duddy and enjoy Traditional!
Actually, both of my sister's are more modern with white trees
that are decorated in teals & pinks ...
but I'm very happy with the Red, Green, Gold & White decorations! LOL
Here's what I've created for my 'traditional' styled card:
Obviously the plaid portion of the mood board caught my eye
and I immediately recalled have an older Graphic45
8x8 paper pad with this plaid that I thought was so pretty!!
I've also used one of the journaling cards available within the paper pad
as the focus of my card front but added a few other goodies too.
The Santa is a 'puffy' sticker tag from my old scrapbooking stash,
the dies I've used are:
I have popped up my focus panel for added dimension
and added gold Stickles to the center of the ornaments.
REMEMBER: We have a fun prize to give away to one lucky player,
which will be chosen by Random.org
ALL are welcome to enter ... we will ship internationally!
So be sure to pop over to the Double D Challenge Blog to see all the details and amazing samples offered up by our VERY TALENTED design team ladies!!

The message they are sharing this time around is as follows:
And, here is the card I created using this beautiful passage:
I felt this message fit perfectly for this time of year
so I went with Fall (Thanksgiving) colors to showcase this
fabulous verse!
My background Fall plaid came from Hobby Lobby, the cross die
I've used is a beautiful set by Momenta and my
leaves are by Impression Obsession.
I've also used the Tutti Designs Cross Stitched Nesting Rectangles
to die cut my sentiment and the olive branches is an old die
from Cheery Lynn Designs.
Today's sponsor with a $20 gift voucher is
I
hope you'll come check out the other beautiful creations shared by the
design team and then join in the fun. I'll be back on the 20th with
